a FORM 149 -P— Special MUNICIPAL SUPPLIES LTD. met in School April COUNCIL MEETING HAY 12, 1958 Page 1 The Council of the :Municipal District of Kneehill ;'48 the Municipal Office at 'Three Hills on May 12, 1958, ing at 9 00 AM Those present were: Mr A. H Church Mr Noah Boese Mr. R W. Brown Mr. Dunc Peters Mr L. P. Meston Mr S C Schmelke Mr. C. C. Campbell Div. 1 2 5 (Reeve) 6 7 Mr M Winther, representative of the 3 Hills Div <T 60 was present for most of the meeting Mr. Boese moved that the minutes of the meeting of rd,14th, 30th & May 2nd, 1958, be adopted. Carried The monthly statement for April /58 was then presented and discussed; this showed a net balance of $1,273.04, with $48,00 owing on loans, as per copy included with the minutes Mr. Church moved that this statement be adopted. Carried. Mr Church moved that the minutes of April 3, page 4, be amended and that the wages for Virgil Rempfer be set at X1.40 hr. as from the start of his employment in April, 958 Carried Correspondence was read as per the agenda included with t ese minutes Mr Brown moved that the Council approve of the following property transfers- Lot 3 and south 12' of Lot 4 Linden Plan 3014 FO from Arnold Boese to Peter J. Duerksen Lots 4 and 5 in Lot 4 Linden Plan 3014 FO LESS the south 1 ' of Lot 4 and LESS the west 16' of north 20' of Lot 5 om Arnold Boese to Abraham Thiessen Carried The following were mentioned as people who might benefit under the Rehabilitation program of the Provincial Dept of Public Welfare: Mr. Oscar Gackle Mr. Gary Collard Mr Deer Miss Scheunert Mr. Benedict The local councillors agreed to make further inquiri s in respect to the above. Mr 14eston moved that Councillor Church see Donald McVeigh regarding grading of a private road for the latter (In Sec 34-29 -21 -4) Carried. �Mr l" 4 ton moved that the Road Comm. investigate the Cre k Crong at WISW- 7- 33 -24 -4 and also the proposal for a r ad between Sec. 5 & 8- 32 -24 -4. Carried see page 2 r ' J FORM 149 -P— Special MUNICIPAL SUPPLIES LTD, COUNCIL MEETING Page 2 MAY 12, 1958 Mr Brown moved that the Council approve of the applic tion of Hiss Agatha Esau to operate a lunch counter, with confections, magazines, etc , in the Hamlet of Linden. Carried I Mr. Peters moved that the Council approve of the application of Peter E Neufeld to operate an Automotive Repair and Service Garage and Retailer's Fuel Oil Business in SE-13-31-26-4 (Sunnyslope). Carried Mr Brown moved that the Council request that the old Highway # 21 from Three Hills to junction with # 26 be classified as a District Highway, and also that the Dept. be asked to change their signs near the said junction. Carried Mr. H. J Hanson, as Secretary to the Service Board, gave the Field Supervisor's report,dealing with tree planting, disposal of 1080 Coyote Bait, livestock spraying, and rental Df the grass seeder. Mr H J Hanson presented the general accounts and pa beets for consideration. Mr. Church moved that these ba authorized paid, except that road employees be paid of y for the hours worked on April 3rd with a limit of 4 ho rs each Carried Mr. Brown and Mr. Boese reported on the trip to Edmonton in respect to the Home for Aged and Infirm at Linden Other members of the delegation were. Psr Henry Regehr and Mr. Christ Unruh, of the Linden ome Board; and Mr. L. Owens, M L A The Department advised the delegation that no grant is availab e for such a Home where ownership and control is in the name of a private Church or other group Mr. Boe e moved that the report be adopted Carried. Mr Brown also reported that i,ir Boese and he had discuss ?d the proposed Three Hills Seed Cleaning Plant with Mr. A. H. Wilson, Field Crops Comm., but had no definite answer re the Govt. grant. Mr. Robert Hogg, foreman, met the Council and reported on his work He also reported that oil appeared to be getting into the radiator of the Ford truck, truck also needs new brake shoes and drums He was asked to get an estimate of the repair costs Mr &k Meston moved that Mr C J Christie investi ate the request of Mrs. Rasmussen for an increase in Moth rs' Allowance. Mr Stan Bell, of Construction Equipment, met the Counci and discussed small crushers, also discussed a demonstration of a Tourna- Tractor for a later date. Tiny Sexsmith and Dick Depue, of Precision Machine, met thE Council re the torque on the Austin 99 Robert Nogg, foreman, was also present. Mr. Sexsmith stated that new roller bearing and front housing set -up can be put in -- this is an improved set -up, and that, with other required parts, the torque should be 0 KL He recommended that a Servic -man from Waterous make the change -over, together with a mechanic from Precision, and our foreman. May 121 at 9:3C COUNCIL MLLTI G Page 10 May 26, 1958 The Council meeting which had been adjourned from 1/58 reconvened at the Municipal Office on May 26th A.M. with all councillors again in attendance. Prior to meeting at the Municipal office, the Council inspected the gravel in S_1.4- 1- 31 -23 -4 (A. Arvidsons) at a.3 M. T,Ir Church moved that a 5 -year gravel lease be entere into with Albert yrvidson for gravel from 5�1 -1- 31-23- at a price of 100 cu yd Carried Mr. Church moved that comprehensive insurance be placed on the three Municipal trucks insured through the ag ncy of S. F. Torrance, subject to 425 deductible on the glass. Carried. The Sec -Treas reported that Mrs. Minnie E Toews had paid $779 82 to clear the tax arrears on land on which she is the registered owner, namely- ICE -3, SE -9, and Sti,1 -10, all in 29 -25 -4. Mr. Ivan Schmidt, of Trochu, purchaser of the said land had requested that his cheque be now accepted for thE said taxes and that the Municipal District make a refund to Mrs. Toews. Mr. Boese moved that this District accept Ivan Schmidt's tax payment and refund X779.82 to Mrs. Ainnie E Toews on condition that she first return her re eipt for cancellation. Carried Letters re banking business were read from: Bank of Montreal, Trochu, Royal Bank, Three Hills, and the Tr asury Branch, Three Hills No action was taken but it was suggested that a record be kept of the exchange charge on our outgoing cheques for one month.. Mr Doug. Hazelton, of Linden Contractors, met the Council and the following work was authorized. Tues. May 27th -- testing for gravel under the supervision of the Road Committee. ! Wed May 27th -- start crushed gravel work from il:egli Rit in Ni-10-30-25-4 and proceed to gravel those toads ready in Divs. 2 & 3, then move to Saerg Pit in SE-2)+-10-26-4 and continue work for Div 3; then move to I�Iunici al pit in SE- 16- 32 -26 -4. Mr. Brown moved that the Council accept the assigru ent from W R D C. to the Royal Bank, Calgary Carried Mr Brown moved that the Court of revision meet on Juno 5, 1958, at 1:30 P 14 Carried. Mr Brown moved that arrangements be made ,Ti th the Bridge Branch to drive piling and install a bridge with 2 ft roadway at West 5- 31 -25 -4 at Municipal expense I Carried. Mr. Peters moved that the Bridge Branch be asked to re-clac our culvert stock with 60 ft. of 60" C I P now being installed W/5V1- 34- 32 -23 -4 (Smyths) Carried. diver Mr. Elmer Nielsen met the Council re the road on in SE- 25- 32 -27 -4 No action was taken. A ,R. on 11ay 15/58, si5ns now erected stating that the Overpass is closed to all truck and pus traffic. Mr Church moved that the Sec - Treas. write to the Hoard of Tra sport Commissioners and ask who should be responsible for the building of a new overpass. Carried. The following met with the Council for a discussion of the Sharples Overpass: 'Three representatives of Alta. Wheat lool, two representatives of P & H Elevator Co and Hr. Jack Barber, farmer of that area. The Elevator Companies were concerned over their probable loss of business at Sharples and offered to assist in g;tting the matter I settled. It was suggested that the Sec.- Treas. write to Mr A. F. Fryers, Superintendent's office for the C. P. R. Medicir e Hat about the proposed site for the new Overpass lr.
