Mr Peters moved that the minutes of the meeting of
and 23rd be adopted. Carried.
The monthly statement for July, 1956, as included with
these mi utes was presented and discussed, this showed a net
balance 3f $127,194.79, with all loans repaid. Its adoption was
moved by Mr. Church. Carried.
Mr Brown moved that the Council approve the request of
the Village of Carbon for x_00 cu yds of gravel from the Thorburn
Pit in N - 10- 29 -22 -4 on condition that this District be paid 10�
per cu. Td. for our expenses in stripping etc. Carried.
iMr. Peters moved that the road diversion in NW- 29- 32- 26 -4
be added to the list for survey (Roy Morley) Carried..
Correspondence was read as per the agenda enclosed with
these mi utes.
Mr Meston moved that the Bridge Branch, Department of
Highways be advised that the Council wlLshes to straighten the
road sou h of 5- 32 -22 -4 and therefore requests a new bridge for
file No 1137. Carried.
Mr Church moved that the Council approve the application
of Canad_an Utilities Ltd. for extensions in the Over- the -Hill
area and Grainger area. Carried.

Mr. Schmelke moved that the Council accept the contract
.11elli and Sons for work from the pit in NE- 34-34 -25 -4
to a maximum of 7000 cu. yds for this Municipal District
e of 80� a cu. yd.for 12 size either loaded on trucks
piled, and that the Contingency Grant work be considered
ubject to the approval of the District Engineer. Carried.

Mr. Peters moved that the settlement of the Insurance
with Superior Paint and Body Services Ltd. for repairs
a53 Ford one ton truck be approved; and that the Reeve
;tart'- Treasurer be authorized to endorse the cheque
repairs in the amount of X466 15 Carried.
Mr. Meston moved that the Alberta Association of
L Districts be asked for prices of 5/8" grader blades.
Mr. Peters moved that a letter be written to Ed Ehrman
him that he must keep his stock at home Carried.
Mr Brown moved. that Medical Services
be reque ted to change the group opening dates
to June , and December 1 Carried

Mr Schmelke moved that E. Howard be paid ;110.00 for
two acre of land required for road widening, being one rod
strips o the W /SW -14 and E /5E -15 both in 34 -25 -4. Carried.
Mr. H. Machell met the Council regarding the outlet from
his resi ence in the SW- 24- 31 -26 -4 to our road on the easterly
side of the C P R. tracks. He was advised that the approach to
our road could be put in a new location if he arranges with the
C.P.R. for a new crossing. Carried
Mr. Peters moved that Mr. John Leh-man's account for
work in orrington be paid - 5 hrs. @ t1.00 per hr., and that
Mr. Alex Schimke's account for $27.00 also be paid. Carried.
Mr. Sam Eslinger met the Council regarding gravel work
He stated that if he was able to get work he would be able to
have more trucks ivir Schmelke stated that he has some donation
gravel work to be done with pit-run gravel and they would let
him know at a later date if he was to be given any of this work.
Mr. H. J Hanson presented the paysheets for consideration.
Mr. Chlar h moved that these be paid as presented. Carried.
Mr. Peters moved that the meeting adjourn for dinner from
12 00 non until 1 00 P M. Carried.
The Secretary- Treasurer reviewed with the Council a
list of those who owe 4,?12.00 or more in Minimum Taxes. Each had
been sent a special notice on August 7, 1956. I,Ir. Brown moved
that unpaid accounts as at August 31, 1956, be turned over to
Mr. J. P Ferguson, of Trochu, for legal action and that costs of
collectilon be added to the accounts Carried.

Mr. Peters moved that the Bridge Branch, Department of

Morley p and damage claim in respect to horses owned by J. Ehret
and stat d that Mr Morley had withdrawn his claim. Mr. Peters
moved that each party be refunded. his $2 00 deposit Carried.
Mr. P. F. Clemens met the Council and reported that

damage c aim of $60 00 He protested this claim and deposited
X2.00 as required by the Domestic Animals Act Mr. Meston moved
that Mr. Schmelke and Mr. Campbell investigate the damage claim
with poi ,+r to act. Carried.
Mr Sam Toews met the Council and requested approval for
a licens for Linden Propane and Appliance Sales, of which he
would be Proprietor. Mr.. Peters moved that this be granted Carried
Mr H McConnell of Clark's Tire Service met the Council
regardin tires bought through the Association, and stated that
they are well equippall o continue with good service.

The Road Committee reported briefly on its inspection
26th and stated that Mrs Edith Morse has a fair road

The Council Meeting reconvened on August 27, 1956 at

Mr. Brown moved that Mr Boese and Mr. Gimbel investigate

Mr. Brown moved that approval be given the annual plan

A price quotation from the Alberta Association of
municipi Districts for grader blades was given as follows*

A letter from the Department of Highways regarding C.P.R.
overpass at Sharples acknowledging our request for inspection was
read to he Council.
A letter from the Public Trustee re Estate of Emil Niemi
was read to the Council. The Council instructed the Secretary to
advise the above that Mr. Niemi had no land, property or any effects
of any value at the time of his death, and that there were no
known relatives in this District.
Mr. Brown stated that he would advise Mr Donald Kostrosky

they were not willing to accept $500.00 as full settlement of the

Mr. Schmelke moved that the Secretary again write to the
Bridge Eranch requesting 40 ft. of 5 ft. culvert for Bridge File
No. 139-11 - W/NW- 2- 34- 25 -�.. The reason being that we have graded
the roae up to the water course this year and that the individual
using t is road needs an all weather outlet. Carried.
Correspondence from the Department of Municipal Affairs

Mr Hanson, Assistant- Secretary, reported that Mr.
and himself, on August 15th, had taken Mr. Ban Srigley
Olds Municipal Hospital to the Gleichen Home. Mr.
felt that Mr Srigley was not capable of living alone
hospital stated that he was not ill enough to occupy a
ded bed. Mr. Schmelke stated that Mr. Srigley was not
to remain at Gleichen and had returned to Wimborne.
Mr Schmelke reported that he and Mr Campbell had
investi ated the pound dispute between Mr A Petersen and Mr.
P F Glemens and that they had awarded Mr. Petersen ':10.00
damages to be paid by Mr. Clemens.
Mr Brown moved that the Secretary write Gallelli and
Sons re uesting that they bull crush the pile of rock removed
from the creek that is stockpiled in 5E- 16- 29 -23 -4 south and west
of Carbcn. They could possibly do this job before moving their
machinery to the location west of Huxley. Carried.
Mr Church moved that the following gravelling be added
to the 1956 program upon receipt of the 113 donations

Mr. Campbell moved that the Bridge Inspector be requested
to make an inspection with Mr Campbell at Bridge File No 6991
W /SW -30 32 -22 -4. Carried.
The Secretary then gave a report on the progress being
made with the gravel program for this year The report showed
approxirr.atelY 36,000 cu yds of gravel yet to be placed on roads.
Of this 36,000 approx. 26,000 to be crushed, the balance being
either lit run gravel or stockpiled. Grading of roads under Road.
Grant s owed that approx. 232 miles of road has been graded, leaving
about 1 a miles to be done Grading of roads that has been
approvee but is not on Road Grant Program showed showed approx.
24 mile to do and that 122 miles had been completed, plus the
install tion of 5 large culverts and other repair work
Mr Peters moved that the meeting adjourn for dinner
from 12 noon until 1 00 p m Carried.
Mr. MacKenzie of Robertson -Irwin Ltd. met the Council

Mr. Brown moved that Mr J. J Barkman be paid $100.00
for one mile of fence plus X25.00 for damages resulting when
culvert were installed adjacent to his land. Carried.

and discussed the Gravel Program. Mr. Boese stated that they
were purchasing a new crusher to be delivered in two or three

not ava' Table he would be able to obtain the services of another
contrac or.
Mr Brown moved that an additional 500 cu yds of
gravel e approved for the District Highway east of Three Hills,
SSE -2- 2 -23 -4 - east two miles. Carried.
A 5 ft. culvert installed at location Bridge File No
13238 - ,1/NW- 24- 31 -25 -4 had been washed out during the recent
rain. Yr. Church moved that B.& H. Construction make a temporary
crossing at the above location which would serve until our own
crew was close to this location and could install the culvert
