A special meeting of the Council of the l "lunicipal of Kneehill # 48 was held in the Municipal Office ?7th, 1955, commencing at 9.00 A M Those present were. Mr. A. H. Church Mr. Noah Boese Mr. Ralph Brown Mr. Duncan Peters Mr. L. P. Meston Mr. S C. Schmelke Mr C C Campbell Div. 1 2 3 4 5 (Reeve) 6 7 Mr. Brown moved that notice of this meeting be d that the Council proceed to deal with any business efore it. Carried unan I Mr. Peters moved that the minutes of the meeting of Octob r 11, 1955, be adopted. Carried. The Council then discussed the 1955 Public Works programm , with particular reference to progress in respect to the RO ad Grant agreement. A statement was presented to Council in respect to the Road Grant, showing actual expenditure to date on projects completed with accounts in, showing amounts spent to date on incompleted projects, estimated of additional expendit res on projects underway, and a list of the projects not started (Copy enclosed). It was estimated that B & T Contractors would require the following time to complete crushed gravel work authorized by the Council- Div. 2 3 days 3 6 ►' 4 7 " 7 6 " Mr. Peters moved that item # 5 ( 2 mi. Acme- Carstairs road) be deleted from the ggreement as it appeared impossible for this District to complete the work this year Carried Mr Schmelke moved that the Government be requested to add the following to the 1955 road Grant a reement. Beynon Aoad -- gravel 3 mi app. 1'4,400- 2,500. Wimborne east -west road gravel Carried Mr Boese moved that the South Camp complete the work now unde way (Proj # 21, then go to Div 3 and do patchwork and work on Proj # 19 (W. Unruhts west) Carried Mr Brown moved that the Council approve of the following additional gravel work as an alternate route to the Acme-Car stairs road. W. 6 and S. 5 & 6- 30 -26 -4 (1,000 c.y.). Carried. Mr Boese requested the Council to consider regravelling 2 miles cf road W. 13 & 24- 28 -24 -4 After considerable discussion, Mr Pete is moved that this be done at 300 c.y. per mi , from the Megli pit. The Council adjourned for dinner from 12 noon Mr. Brown moved that a Jubilee Grant of $100 00 be e Linden Board of Trade Carried. Mr. Peters moved that Jubilee Grant of $95. be made to the Three Hills Chamber of Commerce for a Jubilee banquet, and that $100. of Jubilee money be paid to the Town of Three Hills f r sign adjacent to the Town. Carried Mr Schmelke moved that a Jubilee Grant of $40 00 be paid to the Crossroads Community Association, care of Eugene i`oran. Carried. Mr. Brown reported on the progress in the channel diversi north -west of Acme -- Klassen -- Goerlitz, and the Secretary-Treas. reported that the agreement with Klassens and Rat laffs had been signed Mr. Brown moved that the Council approve of the payment of $400. to the Imperial Life Assuran.e Co. as provided in the said agreement. Carried. An account from the Drumheller Municipal Hospital for $1,C68.20 in respect to Mrs. Margaret Isaac, mother of Hugh Isaac, was discussed Mr Boese moved that Meston, Church, and King be a comm to investigate further re this. Carried. Mr. Schmelke moved that Per Peters and Fir Christie see abo t a disability pension for the daughter of Henry Haffner and alsc that they consider the advisability of having both the son and daughter placed in a Home for better care. Carried. The following correspondence was then read - Mrs. S. Fawcett -- road program & telephone lines Salvation Army -- thanks for grant Sisters of Charity -- 11 C. N I Blind - -- it Beulah Home - -- it Supervisor of Tax Recovery -- Swalwell lots Mr. Campbell agreed to see 14rs. Fawcett and to discuss1her letter with her. Mr. Brown moved that Lots 41 and 42 Block 3 Swalwell Plan 5050 A.K_., together with buildings, be offered for sale by tender, subject to the following Buildings to be removed or dismantled within 90 days of the sale Tenders to be considered Dec. 12Y55 at 2 P.M. Sale subject to the approval of the Minister Lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted Terms cash. Motion carried See page 3. (0 o - spll FORM 149 -P— Special MUNICIPAL SUPPLIES LTD. Felker - $15.00 cattle COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 27, 1955 Page 3. Schmelkq, Mr Peters, Campbell,4and Christie reported on the .. Maerz pound dispute and stated that they recommended Lages and that they had advised Felker to keep his home in the future Mr Peters moved that Edward Maerz be paid the $15 damages and refunded his deposit of $2.00, and that Dave Felker be refunded his deposit of $2.00 in the puund dispute. Carried. Mr Chris4asreported re Mrs. Dorothy Daubert and stated that she $xxxxN in the Twilight Home, Innisfail She is receiving $55. mo. Old Age Pension, and. it was agreed that 050. of this will be applied for her maintenance, with the others. to be used for comforts $40 is now owing to the Home for her acco t. She took ill and was transferred to the Innisf ail Hospital One month's cheaue was used for clothing Mr. Pete s moved that this report be accepted. Carried Mr Brown showed a diagram of a grass seeder as proposed by C E. Ruby, Field Supervisor, for seeding backsloped ditches Mr. Brown then moved that Bruce Ruby be engaged to supply parts and build this seeder at an estimated cost of � $75. to 85. Carried Mr Church moved that Mr. Brown, Eoese, and King be a co .ittee re the Linden water works, with power to authorize extensions if the cost is first advanced by those interested. Carried. Mr. Brown and G King reported that they had again interviewed Aaron Megli re land for the proposed Linden Nuisance &round Mr Megli had requested fencing on both sides of the road, with 2 cattle gates. He had also stated that He would accept $280. but was unwilling to accept the x;200. offer r. Schmelke moved that the Council agree to do the fencing s suggested, but that no increase in the offer of $200. be made Carried. Mr. G. King, Sec. -Treas , reported that he had been unable to arrange a meeting in Edmonton with the Ministers of Municipal Affairs, Education, and Highways Discussion took place and reports were given regarding the investigation of the proposed new boundaries.
