D. of Kneehill # 48 held a meeting at the Municipal Office on June 13th & 14th, )mmencing at 9.00 A.M. June 13th The following councillors were present throughout Le meeting. Mr. A. H. Carried. Mr. G. King, Sec.- Treas., gave information as to the financial standing as at end of June 10/55- -see the Agenda, Item 3 Correspondence was read as per the Agenda included in thes minutes. Mr. Peters moved that approval be given to the line extensi ns as requested by Canadian utilities, Ltd. subject to the required set -back on District Highways and subject to a cl ar height at cross -roads of 22 ft. above the road grade. Carried Mr R Brown and Mr Campbell reported on their trip to Edmonton with the committee on Hail Suppression, and con irmed the letter stating that the Municipal District could n t levy a special mill rate for this purpose m Mr Campbell moved that payment be made of the $6.35 of ing to the Dept. of Municipal Affairs for Educational Tax arrbars collected. Carried. Mr. Schmelkemoved that approval be given to the survey of the Acme sewage disposal line and that any required transfe be granted to the Village of Acme Carried. See page 2 7 �. L t/ COUNCIL 14EETING June 13 & 14, 1955 Page 2. � Mr G King, Sec - 1reas , reported on the hearing before the Board of Public Utility Commissioners which was held in 'Drumheller on June 1155 The City of Drumheller had protested the division of the requisition of the Drum- heller Municipal Hospital and the Board heard arguments offered by contributing authorities. Decision was reserved. Adoption of the report was moved by Mr Brown Carried. Mr. Peters moved that the Road Comm and Mr Brown make further investigation following the recommendations in the letter from the Bridge Branch dated May 27/55 in respect to the bridges, etc., in vicinity of SW- 2- 30 -26 -4 (Goerlitz). Carried. Mr Sec -Treas r C J Christie, , presented the acc unts Moved by I' =7r Peters that the accounts be paid, a3 per the list included in these minutes. Carried. The need of a re- assessment of the I "lunicipal District was discussed. Mr Boese moved that application be madefor a re- assessment of the whole District, this to be started about July 15th of this year and completed by the nd of 1957. Carried. Dickieson, of Construction Equipment 80., melthe Council- -they are now agents for LeTournbau and Adams Mr. H J Gimbel, Road Foreman, met the Council and gav a report on work done recently. Mr. Heston moved that a new belt be ordered for the ext nded Adams Elevating Grader -- 4-ply- -app. 46 ft. Carried. Mr. Peters moved that the road crews be granted leave o absence on July 15 & 16 to allow them to attend the Cal ary Stampede Carried After discussion re gravel contractors, Mr Peters moved that B & T Contracting Co. of Linden be given preference for crushing work, that Sam Eslinger be given the screening work, and that Sundre Contracting Co be given work in the northern part, if Necessary. This was tabled Mr N Ellithorpe, of Sundre Contracting Co., met the Council He agreed to change his price for crushing, loading and spreading gravel to* 55� for 12 ", 60¢ for 1 ", and 70¢ for 1". Mr V Hanna, of Great west Distributors, met the Council re the proposed fuel oil business of David Falk, stated that his Company had contacted the Govt. for permission for Falk to handle farm sales. Mr. Campbell moved that the Council approve of David F lk's application for a fuel oil business, subject to prop r licences being first secured Carried. Mr. Arnold Boese, of B & T, met the Council and discussed gravel work, said they might do some stockpiling of crushed gravel at no extra cost during rainy weather Mr. McLennan, of ��aterous, met the Council and quoted he following prices- H.P. G M. Diesel used motor `A,000. Cable 23¢ ft in 300 or 500 ft. rolls. Mr Ken Moore, of Union Tractor, met the Council briefly. Mr. Aeston moved that the Council approve of the transfe of a Pt NE- 10- 31 -22 -1 from David Kaechele to the United 10hurch of Canada, the area being immediately south of the 3arcee Butte School and being Rxwmxd 8 rods south by 12 r ds west. Carried. Mr. Campbell moved that the Sec. - Treas. inquire further re the Mother's Allowance application of Mrs Julia Allen. Carried Mr Meston moved that the account of Allen, MacKimmie, Matthew and Wood for $7.00 be paid, this being the cost of registr tion of title of lots purchased from Sturdie 11ropane. Carried. ? Mr. Campbell reported re the claim of lvlr F H Robertson for X105 00 for damages for years 1951, 1953, and 1954 ca sed by traffic crossing his land The Sec - Treas. was instructed to investigate further re previous payments made to Mr. Robertson. 's Mr. Brown and 'vir Boese reported further on the propose transfer of a Pt NE- 19- 30 -25 -4 from Jacob L. Baerg to Armi n E. Toews; the transfer of this would almost make it impossible to straighten the road at this location Mr. Brown moved that the Council do not approve of the transfer Carried Mr Peters reported that he had inspected a used Adams # 12 Elevating Grader with motor now at Innisfail and stated that he believed it to be in good condition. Mr Lou Campbell, of Industrial & Road Equipment, mettthe Council re the above Elev Grader, W 30 gas motor; almost mew 42" belt; 19' carrier, rollers very good. Price a ked 42,250. Mr. Meston moved that an old grader be sold to Arthur- $30.00 Carried Mr Meston moved that Clay Thomas be billed for 7 lengths of used 30" cement culvert at a regular price. Carried Mr. Brown moved that an old grader be sold to Harley Gibson for ��20 00 Carried. Mr. Peters moved that an old grader be sold to Emil Be reth for W 00 Carried. Mr Campbell reported that the old grader in the Hamlet of Huxley was being repaired for use in Huxley 'Mr. G. king, Sec - `1'reas , outlined to Council the proposed settlements for land, fencing, and damages in connection with the road project between 9 & 16- 31 -22 -4 and stated that the following would be acceptable to the persons concerned. Dau at -kO.00 each. Carried. Mr. Brown requested that the Bridge Branch be informed of the danger of flooding of farm buildings due to the cult' rt near Witwers west of Acme(S 27- 29- 26 -4). The Council adjourned for supper at 6 P.M. and re -conve ed at -7 P M. I Mr. Church moved that the Alta. Pacific Grain Co. be asked to donate $1,000. for improvement of the road to the north of Taylor Siding in Sec 33- 27 -20 -4, and that the Municipal District agree to match this donation Carried. Mr. Ed. Belsheim, Asst. Dist. Engineer of Aed Deer, met wit the Council and the details of the 1955 Road Grant Agreeme t were outlined. Full details of this form a part of thes minutes. Mr. Brown moved that the application be made for the 195 Road Grant as per the details drawn up, and that the Ree e and sec.-Treas. be authorized to sign the agree- ment ontbehalf of this District. J. for 410.00 ) Carried Mr Church moved that By -Law # 204 be given third reading and finally passed (Lot 4 Blk. 1 Hesketh to John Jankows i) Carried. The Sec. -Treas read the correspondence from Ludwig Thurn regarding payment for fencing, etc. Mr. Boese moved that no increase be offered and that a cheque for $p400.00 be sent to Kr Ludwig `churn as full settlement for land and fencing in connection with road widening. Carried The Sec. - Treas. reported that the land from Oscar Keirle ould be secured for a nuisance ground, but he doubted if the location was a good one Mr Peters moved that Councillors Brown, Boese, and Schmelke investigate re a location for a nuisance ground to serve Linden. Carried Mr. Meston moved that the Council confirm the hiring of Wm Jewel as operator of the new # 12 Motor Patrol, and that his wages be 41.00 hr. for first 200 hrs , then 41.25 per hr Carried. Mr. Meston moved that Raymond Jungling be notified it will be impossible to complete all the grading requested by him, but that the one -half mile E/SL- 17- 30 -21 -4 will be graded this year if time permits. Mr. Meston and Mr. G. King notified the Council that a on- resident indigent had died within the District recently and that the District might be called upon to pay the burial expenses. Mr. Boese moved that the burial expenses of any indigen person within this District be kept at an approx- imate t tal cost of $75. to $100. Carried Mr. Brown moved that the Shop Comm. be authorized to pure ase a fuel tank to be placed in the caboose at Acme. Carried Mr. Schmelke moved that the Bridge Branch be asked to pair 1,000. for a road for an inlet to parcels in West 2- -33 -24 and NE- 1- 33 -25 -4, and that this grant be requested in lieu of bridges for a road W. 6 & 7- 33 -24 -4• Carried.
