Court of Revision- Moved by Mr Brown that the members of the Court of Revision be Councillors Schmelke, Campbell-, Boese, Church, and Teston Carried. Mr. Peters moved that Mr Church and Mr. Boese represent this District on the Board of the Drurlheller Health Unit Carried. I Mr. Peters moved that 1,11r. L. He gaVE a cheque from his Co. for $116.40 as refund of the Sales 5ax on the snowplow wing He gve the following prices: Power Unit for Elevating Grader -- 4 cylinder AC Gas Motor--45 h.p. at 1400 rev., 56 h.p at 1800 rev. $1,000. less s les tqx AD -40 Motor Patrol -- 104 h.p.-- $19,000 basic; with extras, about $20,234. net, Snowplow & wing $3,510 CORRESPOKDENCE as listed in the Agenda was then read and dealt with Mr. Church moved that the Council approve of the site for a e1l_ing and private garage in S E -1-- 27- 28 -20 -4 as reques e d by Mr & Mrs Andrew Harper. Carried Mr Boese moved the proposed site for a United Church in S E. corner of SE- 15- 31 -22 -4 be approved, but that the Council request that the building be set back far enough that the Municipal District may later acquire 1 rod along the south boundar{Y if this be desired for road widening. Carried. Mr. Brown moved ist reading to By -Law # 213, being a By -Law to prohibit the erection of any building or other obstruction within5kij ft. of the centre line of a District Highway unless permission be first obtained from the Council. Division of Assets and Liabilities was next considered. After d scussion, the proposal for division with Calgary Mun Distric was tabled. It was arranged to meet with the Council of the jiun. Dist of Red Deer at Red Deer on Apr 16/55 at 10 AM , with al our Council to attend if possible. Iv1r Meston moved that all councillors be delegates to the spr ng meeting of the Central Alta. Association of Municipal Distric s at Red Deer on Sat , April 16th. Carried Mr. Church moved that the $15.00 dues be paid to the Central Alta. Association of I'lunicipa.l Districts. Carried Mr Broim moved that the application of Bert & Walt's Electric to operate an electrical business in Linden be approved. Carried The following requisitions were presented* Three Hills Iunicipal Hospital $291600 (tentative) Olds Minlicipal Hospital $ 4,338.00 Mr. Brown moved that the requisitions be accepted, and that the first quarterly payment be made to each. Carried The following applicants for office work were wed by the Council: Harvey Hansen -- married; age 25 in July; no family; d Grade 11, typing in school; experience in bank, etc., ing at Three Hills Motors as book - keeper. Robert Deans -- married; age 28, one child, grade 12; ping at school; has been on road crew for 4 yrs. Geo. D. IuaclAillan -- age 66, 1 boy aged 14 at home, ly with C.N.R , now at Sawdon's Drug Store. Ronald Callaghan- -age 17; part grade 12; stopped ue to financial reasons Mr. Brown moved that the hiring of an Office Assistant ;d until tomorrow Carried. Mr. Schmelke moved that the same charitable grants be in 1954. Carried Mr. Schmelke reported that he had not been able to Mr. McKenzie re damages to his truek, but that he would to this. Mr Brown reported that the account of Mrs. Tony Doth with th3 Holy Cross Hospital is being paid by her husband at $x10.00 per month, and he moved that the Hospital be informed that th3 Municipal District is not accepting responsibility Carried Mr Brown moved that the accounts for assistance of IVIrs Ed th Walker and her daughter Betty be referred to the Dept oC Public �Jelfare, as they are not residents of this District and would appear to be transients Carried Mr. Dickieson, of Industrial hoad Equipment, inter- viewed he Council and gave them literature of Adams Tdotor Graders Mr. Ken Moore, of Union Tractor) met the Council and disLssed Motor Patrols, etc. Mr. Brown moved that this meeting adjourn until Tuesday, April 5th, at 9 A.I1 Carried ( Time at adjournment 6.30 P .I.R . ) 6 April 5, 1955 The Council reconvened on April 5th at 9 A L6 , with all councillors again present. Letter from Vellner Motors of Red Deer was read regarding a used motor for an Elevating Grader; price $1,350. Mr. Campbell moved that the Council approve of the placing of the half -load ban against traffic on all Municipal roads as from Fri., Apr 1/.55 at 6 Ally Carried. Mr. Schmelke moved that the said road ban be removed on Monday, Apr. 11th at 6 Ali, Carried Mr. Graff, Alta. Pacific Grain Co Superintendent, met the Couricil re road improvement near Taylor Siding He said his Company had spent about �vl 000. on the roads in 19547 and that they would pay a further 17000. this year if the Municipal District would meet this dollar for dollar, Socony Vacuum Oil Co. is also interested, Govt. may give a special grant This was referred for inspection by the Council See page 5 FORM 149 -P— Special MUNICIPAL SUPPLIES LTD. Ohlhauser and with the owners of the land required for road widening as per surve made for 4 mile of Grainger South road (SVJ- 16- 28 -24 -4 north; the said cc to arrange rates of compensation with the owners Carried Setting of rates of pay for councillors was tabled. Iilr. Boese moved that all accounts for mileage must show reasonable details of the roads travelled, and that all employees be notified of this Carried. 141r. Schmelke moved that the rates of pay for foremen be $340 per month each, as from Apr. 1/55 Defeated Mr. Brown moved that the rates of pay for the foremen be $335 per month each, as from Apr 1155 Carried Mr H urant and Mr A Jacobson of the Three Hills Town Council met our Council and discussed installation of water aid sewer lines on 1st. Avenue (facing our Shop) They stated it would be possible to provide this by lowering the grade a p 1 ft from our shop south, and raising the grade app. 3 t. from the shop north toward Main Street; they request d assistance from the Nlun. District 11'r Church moved that the 11unicipal District agree to do the dirt work (with record of time to be kept) as an outright donatiom to a limit of 20 tractor hours, on condition that the water eaid sewer line be installed in 1955, and that fir Reston and Mr. Peters be a committee to meet the Town Council re this Carried. Mr Arnold Boese, of B & T Construction, met the Council; has a good used Cedar Rapids gravel crusher with capacity of about , 0 c.y. day. Rates quoted: 1G " - -55¢; 1 *11- -60¢, 111--6.1,50i7 said rates to include spreading with Patrol 20¢ for pit run; 50 less if 11. D. does the spreading. Back -ho rate $10 hr , charging time for moving one way. I Mr Peters moved that final settlement be made to the Estate of A J. King investi ate the rates of exchange, etc Carried. the Ree` cheques resumed IIr Peters moved the Banking Resolutions to authorize -e (or Deputy - Reeve) and the Sec - Treas. to sign all and other legal documents on behalf of the District. Peters moved that the Provincial Government be requested to establish a Provincial Highway linking Iiigh- Ways # 7 9, and 21, with a bridge to be built over the Red Deer River, and the route to cross through the central portion of this municipal District. Carried. lir. kIeston moved that a request be made for the followirig road to be classified as a District Highway, and that a copy of the request be sent to Hon. G. Taylor. Mr. King opened the matter for discussion and outlined the reasons for the 1, D of Kneehill requesting a share of the assets of the 11 D. of Red Deer, he then presented a tentative proposal for the division by which the I.' . D. of Red Deer would pay app. $15,000 to 11, D. of Kneehll This was discussed and the Red Dee Councillors suggested that the depreciation allowed for mac inert' was much too low 14r Judge spoke regarding the 55 limitation clause, and explain d that the Minister could consider this a special case if he ought this was justified.
