It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the next meeting of

Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the minutes of the meetings

Mr. Vorrath and A. A. Thurn interviewed the Council

Moved by Mr. Schmelke that account of R J Gillanders
for taking Enzie girl to Calgary be paid. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Meston that Henry Tippe be advised of the
claim of $62.00 against him registered by the Department of
National Revenue; and that if he approves said claim be paid in
two instELlments of $31.00 each. Carried.
The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to advise Mrs.
Myrtle Krause that the matters complained of in her letter,
piling of brush and trees, has been taken care of
Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that road committee investigate
the matt r of encroachment of the Acme sewer pipe line on the
road div rsion in NE- 19- 29 -25 -4 and 5E- 30- 29- 25-4. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Schmelke that a grant of $55.00 be paid
to Torri gton Chamber of Commerce for fencing of Torrington
Cemetery Carried.
Moved by Mr. Schmelke that, as Mr. Harold Davidson is
now receiving Disability Pensions of $40,00 per mono., the
relief a�lowance for this family be reduced to $30,00 per month
Carried.!
Moved by Mr. Reston that letter be wriyten to the
Department of National Revenue advising the Department that the
hoist on which sales tax was collected is used for the repair
and ma %t nance of road building machinery. Carried.
Mr. A. H. Church reported on an interview with Mr.
Leonard Wilson, Secretary of Drumheller Hospital regarding
George Webber; and it was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that said
report be accepted and payment authmmized of payment of $318.55
for maintenance of Mr. George Webber during April, May and
June, 19$4. Carried.
Moved by Mr A. H. Church that George Webber be kept
in the Drumheller Hospital's chronic ward, and that his account
be guaranteed by the Municipal District Carried
Moved by Mr. Church that application be made to the
Prairie Farm Assistance branch, Department of Agriculture,
Regina, LSask. for payment of P.F.A.A. awards on 1954 crop
damage in the floowing townships: 30 -21 »4, 30-22 -4, 30 -23 -41

Mr. Arnold Boese interviewed the Council regarding the
propose water -works plan for Hamlet 6f Linden.
Secretary- Treasurer read By-Law No 205, being a
By -Law to authorize said works.
Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that first reading of By -Law
No 205 e approved. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that second reading of By -Law
No 205 a approved. Carried
Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Haddin, Davis and Brown
be engag d to supervise said works. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that B. & T. Construction
Co. be engaged to dig the trenches for pipes in said works
for a cost of 10¢ per lineal foot for each foot of depth.

Moved by Mr. Winther that Mr. Arnold Eoese be engaged
to move he pump -house at Linden back on its foundation, and
to conne t and put the pressure tank in operation. Carried
Secretary - Treasurer reported that Mr. Schmaltz and
he had i vestigated the matter of sale of bull -calf to Emil
Fischer or $35.00; also sale of aged mare to J. N. Ehret for
$20.00; oth of these animals were offered for sale at an
advertis d pound sale, no bids were made for them at the sale,
and the imals were then sold by private sale as authorized
in Secti n 48 (3) of The Domestic Animals Act, Carried.
Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that these two transactions
be appro ed. Carried.
Messrs. Henry Regehr and Jake Regehr met with the
Council and discussed gravelling of the following:
VNE- 12- 30 -25 -4 Henry Regehr -- donated $120 00 cash
W 12- 30 -25 -4 Jake Regehr (4 mi ) will donate gravel
and enou h cash to pay one -third of cost
They suggested that gravel from a pit on SW- 1- 30 -25 -4
be used or these projects
Mr. Schmaltz moved that the gravelling be done as per
the abov , subject to approval of the road committee. Carried
Mr. H. J. Gimbel met with the Council and discussed the
need for a snow -wing for the AD -3 Patrol. Mr. Schmaltz moved
that the order with Waterous Ltd for a disc attachment be can-
celled and that a new snow -wing for the AD -3 be ordered Carried
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that Mr. Parry and G. King investigate
the dama e to the B. A. Oil filler pipes and tanks at Sunnyslope
Carried
The Council discussed the need for a new Motor Patrol,
but agre d that no purchase would be made this year.
Mr. Joe Heaton, of Sundre Contractors, met the Council
He reported that B & T (sub - contractors) were to start work in
the Klas en pit (SE- 18- 30 -23 -4) on Sept 14th and to do 52 mi.
pit run, plus app. 100 cu. yds. to Swalwell. They would then
move with a crusher to pit on NE- 3- 34 -22 -4 to work for Div 7

Mr Schmaltz moved that the mileage accounts of Leslie
Rist for July and August be paid, but that he and Aubrey Hazel
be notified that their mileage accounts seem excessive and
should ba kept to a minimum Carried.
Mr. Winther moved that Mr. Meston contact Aubrey Hazel
regardin his hours of work and other matters Carried.
Mr G King presented various paysheets for consideration.
Mr Schmelke #iat moved that all. paysheets signed by councillors
be passed for payment Carried
I Meston moved that an old road drag be sold to John
Hugo for $15.00. Carried
Mr Meston that an old Adams Road King # 7 Grader be
sold to �eo. Kaechele for $50 00 Carried
Mr Winther reported on the need to remove about 80 rods
of fence along East 15- 34 -24 -4 (Aubrey Davies land) so that the
drift soil could be cleared when the grading is underway.
Mr. Winther moved that the Municipality remove the fence and
supply now pickets to Aubrey Davies. Carried..
The road corn ittee reported on various inspections made,
with particular reference to:
1. Condition of roads adjacent to Shell Oil drilling
site in - 1- 31 -22 -4.
2. Need for regravelling part of Three Hills -- Drumheller
road near Orkney.
3 Progress for removal of gravel from Red Deer River
being made by Clarence Elvin.
4. Lack of any graded road outlet for Franz Jakob.
5. Need of work east of Finn Hall and at Creek Crossing
near Aar e Niemi's (W/SW- 30- 32- 22 -4).
6. Request for gravelling 1 mi W 35- 33 -23 -4

Mr Schmelke moved that Mr. Winther be authorized to
have 1 m'. road gravelled West 35- 33-23 -4 Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that the matter of holiday bonus due
to Paul lvin (deceased) be tabled, together with his account
due to W lkinson and McClean Carried

Mr Ohlhauser moved that the Council approve of the
(engaging of Mr Jack Lamb of Calgary as surveyor and that the
following be added to the work already undertaken:
1 From SW- 16- 28 -24 -4 north 4 mi (1 rod each side)
2 Changes in the hill north of Grainger Carried.
Letter of Aug. 17/54 from the Bridge Branch was read,
which stated that the Bridge Branch will construct a bridge
at file 1938 S. 16- 31 -22 -4, and that their inspector will
decide on the exact site

Mr. Schmaltz moved that the donations be accented, and
gravelling be authorized Carried
Mr Church moved that the Dept. of Highways be asked to
if the following change in our 1954 road agreement-
Delete # 9 -- 2 miles grading and gravelling south of
substitute: A 4-i mi gravelling near Ted Bitz for
B. Regravel on Three Drum road from correction line
School (3 mi.). Carried.

Mr Schmelke "that the Shell Oil Co. be asked to pay
or road repair in the vicinity of their drilling site
1 -22 -4, and that Mr. Meston and King send them a
showing the estimated damages of app. $2,400. in

Mr. Schmelke moved that Mr Meston be given authority
