Page 2. ----------------------------- - - - - -- Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that 1954 dues of $195.00 Lberta Association of Municipal Districts be paid; seven Councillors be sent as delegates to the 1954 )n in Edmonton on Nov. 17- 18 -19, 1954; and that Mr, be sent as visitor to said convention. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmelke that Mr. Church and Purvis investigate the case of George Webber further. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Mr. Winther be appointed to make arrangements for a public meeting in Huxley on August 13, 1954, when Mr. C. F. Gillis, District Inspector of the Board of Transport Commissioners will be present to discuss the proposal to close the Huxley station, and that Mr. Wint1her and Mr. Purvis represent the Municipal District at the said meeting. Carried. Moved by Mr Schmaltz that Mr. Arnold Boese be paid $150.00 for the North 20 feet of the West 16 feet of Lot 5, Block 2, Linden, and the building and tank located thereon. Carried. Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that correspondence be filed. Carried. Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that Mr. J. WD Olson, of Drumheller, Alberta, be appointed as representative of this Municipal District on the board of directors of the Rosebud Seed Cleaning Plant. Carried. The Secretary - Treasurer reported to the Council that there was a loss of $40.00 cash in the business of June 1, c1954; amd it was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that $40.00 be paid to A. J. Purvis in compensation for said loss. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmelke that Council engage Dr. Jack Greenway, V.S., for vaccination of cattle for Bang's disease. Carried. Moved by Mr. Winther that Mr. C. E. Ruby be granted leave -of absence of days for holidays. Carried. King reported that they had inter - Joe Gorman and sons and had informed them that this could not pay two - thirds of the cost of gravelling their ey had, therefore, requested a refund oftheir donation ltz moved that the donation of $102 00 be refunded to orman (Rec # 7255 -- 1953). Carried. Mr. G. King reported that he had interviewed Mrs. Eva Brun ski and had obtained the further information required for her inability Pension- -this had been forwarded to Edmonton. Mr. Meston and G King reported on the arrangements made for the extra land required for road widening on the Three Hills E&ct project. Details of this Ore contained in these minutes. Mr. Meston moved that the report be accepted Carried only and mileage; unless f( be given; Mr. G. King presented the pays beets for consideration. Mr. Schmaltz moved that Leslie Rist be paid for labor that he be asked for an explanation regarding his July that he be notified that no mileage will be paid him ,r going for repairs or such reason; that details must and that he is expected to stay in the bunk -car Carried. Mr. Meston moved that the other paysheets signed by the Councillors be passed for payment Carried Mr. Church reported a slide on the Orkney Hill Mr. Schm ltz moved that Mr Church have authority to hire Parge of Drumh ller to clear this Carried Mr. Gimbel, foreman, met with the Council and dis- cussed v rious road problems. It was agreed that he could get an extra man if required. Mr. Ralph Main was suggested Ted McNair and Clarence Metzger met with the Council regardinE a contract for gravel work, the gravel to be from the Thurn pit on # 9 Highway south -west of Beiseker Prices quoted- Gravel 79 cu. yd.; Crush to 1" size 750 cu yd , hauling at regular iates Estimate for 2 miles East 4 & 9- 28 -24 -4 at 500 cu. yds. mile was $2,100. They offered to contract this for $1,400 ; the balance of $700. to be collected by them as donat ons from interested persons. Mr G King and Mr Meston reported that they had met the Hon G. Taylor, Minister of Highways, on Aug 8th They had then met a delegation from the Sarcee area regarding the proposed bridge across the Ghost Pine Creek west of the said school Mr. Ken Moore, of Union Tractor, met the Council The Cable C ntrol Unit on the new D -8 was discussed. He stated that the int rest rate charged by his Company is now 4-J% instead of the 6% Ireviously charged. Mr Schmaltz moved that Costello Equipment Co. be informed by letter that the Cable Control Unit purchased from them for the new D -8 recently is not working satisfactorily, and that they are expected to either put this into good working conditi n or make an allowance on same. It seems that it is unsuited for the speed of the new D -8. Carried. The letter from Emil Fischer, poundkeeper, was read regarding an impounded bull Mr. Schmelke moved that Mr. Schmaltz and Mr. Purvis investigate, with power to act. Carried Mr Meston moved that an order be placed with Westeel for the following culverts. 2--481' by 50 ft with bevelled ends 1 - -60" by 40 ft it about 300 ft. of 12" Carried It was agreed that the road comm and Mr. Meston would meet at the Municipal Office on Sat., Aug 14th at 10 A.MW to go to Elvins and do other inspection work, other councillors to also come, if possible. Mr Ohlhauser moved that Mr. Meston have authorit to arrange for gravel prospecting in SW- 10- 31 -22 -4 (Campbells. Carried. Mr Parry and the Road Comm. reported regarding the gravel Locations near Pages west of Sunnyslope. The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to take the necessa y action to sell Lot 31 Block 11 Hesketh, to R. J. Peterse , and Lot 47 Block 1 to John Jankowski.
