Carried. Business resumed at 1.00 p.m. All Councillors present. Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that Councillors be paid for meetings, supervision of roads and committee work in l lows s (a) in the period from January 1st, 1954, to June 30th, 1954, #8. 0 per day, and 10¢ per mile for use of car. (b) in the period from July lst, 1954 to Dec. 31st, 1954, $10900 per day, and 100 per mile for use of car. Carried. The Council discussed probable sources of gravel for use in 1954. Mr. Wimther reported that no good gravel pit could be locate on Wi-1 »34 -23• -4 (Mrs. Kennedyts land). Mr. G. King reported that neither Mrs. Powlan or Mrs. McFarlane had answered letters re gravel on NW- 19-30 -25 -4 and SW- 30- 30 -25 -4, resp. Mr. Schmelke moved that letters be written to the registere owners of NE-16- 32-26 -4 asking what price they want ,for 20 ac es of S.E. part of said quarter - section. Williams be paid hour as from July 1st, 1954. Carried. Mr. Schmaltz moved that Orville Hart be paid $1,25 Carried. Mr Ohlhauser agreed to investigate the report that aser was no longer working in the South camp. Mr. King presented the paysheets. Mr. Parry reported that Paul Elvin had requested the se of th- International truck to haul approximately 25 c.y. ravel. Mr. Ohlhauser moved that Paul Elvin be advised that his truck is needed for Municipal Work and is not available or hauling the gravel. Carried. Mr. Schmelke and Mr. King gave a report regarding e arras ements made for extra right »of -way for road improve« nt from Torrington east approximately * miles. Moved by . Schm tz that this report be accepted. Carried. Winth r that this report be accepted. Carried„ i Mr. Schmaltz moved that the telephone and power companies be contacted re moving their lines for the two ` rojects �entioned above. Carried. Mr. Ohlhauser moved that the Council give notice pf its intention to pass a by. -law to close the road between - �E and SW 2 -29 -24-4 including that portion which goes through jthe lout westerly part of S8+ -2 -29-24-4, all of which forms part of road diversion 2703 M.D. Carried. I JI FORM No. 149 -P Special MUNICIPAL SUPPLIES LTD. i Council Meeting July 12, 1954 Page 7 The probable sale of gravel from NJ- 10- 29 -22 -4 to the Village of Carbon and others was discussed. Mr. Schmaltz moved that the following regulations be made: 1. That the Municipal District charge 10¢ cu. yd. for Municipal expenses for opening pit, building road, etc 2. That 101 cu. yd. be charged for the gravel, this to be paid to the Mun Dist. and by it to the owners of the land. 3. That no gravel be released to contractors or to anyone o tside the extreme limits of the Municipal District. Mr. Schmelke 4k moved that the Council investigate regarding gravel west of Sunnyslope near pages - -on Friday of this wee , if possible. Carried. The minutes of the Agricultural Service Board meeting of June 5, 1954, were read to the Council. The following three motions ere made in keeping with recommendations from the Board: Moved by Mr Schmelke that the charge for tree spraying be $10.00 per a €e farmer, plus cost of materials, plus $3.00 pei hr for Supervisor, helper, and equipment while actually working on the job. ($2.00 hr. if no helper supplied). Work to a done only on the request of the firmer. Carried. Moved by Mr Ohlhauser that the A. S. Board arrange to haVe a portable cattle chute built. Carried. Moved by Mr. Church that Mr Ruby be authorized to get an sistant Weed Inspector if he needs one Carried. Moved by Mr, Schmaltz that the account submitted by W. O. Patton ($185,00 for funeral for the late Martin Davis) b sent to the widow (Mrs, Elizabeth Davis, Calgary, Alberta) for payment, Carried, Mr. Norman Wagstaffe interviewed the Council regarding three so s, property of Mr. Lauder, which he had impounded in the George A. Cranston pound. The Council endorsed the award of $10.00 damages to Mr. Norman Wagstaffe, made by Mr. Martin Winther. Messrs. Weis, Soppit, Cranston and Johnson of the Hamlet of Huxley interviewed the Council regarding the proposal of the Giinadian kational Railways to close Huxley station as an agency. Moved by Mr, Schmaltz that Secretary - Treasurer be instruct +d to write to Board of Transport Commissioners showing reasons by this point should be kept open as an agency. Carried„ Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Mr. Church be delegated to investigate the residence qualifications within this Municipal District;of Mrs, Olive Monroe, of Rosebud, Alberta, who has made application for Motherts Allowance. Carried. Moved by Mr, Schmaltz that one road drag be sold to Otto chimke for $8.009 and one maintainer be sold to George V sseur for $20.00. Carried, Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Municipal District purchase from Wat roes Limited one disc attachment for Allis - Chalmers Motor Gr der for $770.009 FOB Calgary, Alta., and that first reading f Bye -Law No. 199 to provide for same be passed. Mr. Schmaltz spoke on the proposed water -works scheme for Lin en, and reviewed the various steps taken thus far: engagin of Haddin, Davis and Brown to make an estimate of cost, r quirement of the Council that $3,000 be raised in cash by rate avers; proposed growth of hamlet south and east of present boundaries. Mr. Vickerman spoke and steps given below be undertaken (a) Well placed on test (b) Review of scheme to growth 6f hamlet and erection of recommended that the various at once: to determine its capacity. provide for anticipated schools in new area. Hr. Elliott spoke and reported that the matter of water s rvices for the schools has not been considered by the Board o Wheatland School Division as they were not aware of the pro osed water works scheme; matter will receive consideration at next Board meeting on July 19th, two rural schools and two teacher ges will be moved in before school opens in September; 120 pupils in these schools at present with three teachers. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Mr. Vickerman be instructed to review the whole scheme and give a report on the following matters The added cost of installing larger pipe to serve additional areas, greater storage capacity than original estimate, and test on output of the well.
