Gimbel for correction. (Moved by Mr. Winther that the letter from Hudson Bay route association be tabled. Carried !Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the Torrington Board of Trade be advised of the proposed oil warehouse to be erected by Great 'West Distributors and Eli Scheurer, and that the Board of -Trade be asked to approve of same. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the Veterans' Land Act office be advised that the Council will discuss the problem of drainage of W. D. Roach farm (52- 33- 32 -26 -4) on the site with the representative of the V.L.A. and with Mr. Roach. Carried. . P. J. Rock interviewed the Council regarding the problems associated with the removal of gravel from the bed of the Red Deer River in Sec 10 -31- 21--4. There was a long discussion on this matter. Moved by Mr, Ohlhauser that the Municipal District undertake,to do the following acts: L. To pay Mr. P. J. Rock $150.00 per year compensation for the u5e made by the Municipal District of that part of Sec. 10-3L-21-4 lying west of Red Deer River for gravel removal, storage aid transportation. 2. To notify Mr. Rock each year of the times when work is to commence. To leave the bank of the river as reasonably safe as possible after each seasonts work, and to meet with Mr. Rock or his re resentative at the site before declaring the work completed . That Mr. Rock will assume the risk of loss of cattle. arried. #4r. Carl Reub was present regarding unpaid taxes on ots 21, 2 and 23, Block 4, Torrington. He informed the Council hat he w 11 pay the taxes on Lots 22 and 23, and his father ill pay he taxes on Lot 21. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that a letter be written to Leslie R st, asking if he agrees to have $20.00 per month paid from his 'wages to the Sunnyslope Mutual Telephone Co, Carried. Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that Mr, Schmaltz, Mr. Church and Mr. �urvis be appointed to represent this Municipal Dist- rict at 4he Premier's Safety Conference in Edmonton on May 19, 1954. C rried. Moved by Mr. Meston that Mr. Winther be appointed as representative of this Municipal District at tho meeting of the ratepayers of Elnora Municipal Hospital District No. 44 on May 1 , 1954. Carried. Lot 4, B: that the Block 1 1 Carried, Three Hi: Moved by Moved by Mr. Church that the Municipal District sell ock 1, Hesketh, to John Jankowski for $10.00; and Municipal District exchange Lot 1 for Lot 3, in ith R J Petersen. Carried. Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that correspondence be filed. Court of Revision was held at 2.00 p.m, One appeal was heard: that of Mr. Lyman E. Wilder, ls, Alberta, of assessment of $390.00 on house trailer. Mr. Winther that assessment be confirmed. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Court of Revision be adjourned. Carried. !Mr. Aaron Toews interviewed the Council, and asked that relief for Mrs. Alma Friesin and family be reinstated He was informed that the case would be investigated. Moved by Mr. Schm'lke that Mr. Christie be instructed to investigate this matter again, and be given authority to issue emergency relief, if found necessary. Carried. Mr. Heaton, of Sundre Contracting Co, Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the greater part of the el work in the Municipal District be contracted to ntracting Co. Carried. 'Mr. G. G. King, Assistant Secretary - Treasurer, submitte the labor sheets, and it was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that samE be passed for payment; and that James Bishop and Wm. Trentham be notified that no further payments will be made to them unless work is first authorized. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmel.ke that old Richardson grader be sold to Harry Gibson for ►15.00. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that machine committee be instruct d to have the old Adams elevating grader repaired and put n operating order, and have the elevator extended three felt. Paul Elvin met the Council and informed the Council ind his brother intend to set up operations to remove °om Redc Deer River in NE- X30. -32-21-4. Moved by Mr. that Municipal District guarantee, if gravel is ;ory, to purchase a minimum of 5,000 cu yds. from Clarence Elvin at a price not over 50¢ per cu. yd. Council adjourned from 6.30 p,m. to 7.30 p.m, for Robert Hogg interviewed the Council regarding board employees. No action taken by Council. Moved by Mr Schmaltz that donations of $150.00 from tley and $150.00 from J: W. Tanton be accepted under plan for gravelling local roads. Carried. (Moved by Mr. Meston that the Garnishee Summons on the wages of'John P. Campbell be accepted; and that he be paid $140,00 of his April wages, and the balance paid into Court as per said Summons Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that G. G. King and A. J. Purvis be given leave -of- absence to attend the Secretary's Convention and Refresher Course in Banff May 25, 26 and 27, 1954, and that they be paid their expenses in attending said course. Carried. Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that resignations of Richard Garrett and Leslie Rist as poundkeepers be accepted, and that George Appleyard be appointed poundkeeper to maintain a pound at NEw6- 30- 22.4. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that invitations be sent to the Councils of the villages and town within the Municipal District to send representatives to a Civil Defence organization meeting n the Municipal Office on June 3rd, 1954 at 7 30 p m. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that request be made to the Board of Drumheller Health Unit No. 8 to act as Board of Health of this Municipal District. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmelke that Council approve the annex- ation of Lots 14 to 26 inclusive, Block 2, Plan 908 GA, Three Hills, and 4th Street South by the Town of Three Hills. Carried. Moved by Mr. Meston that Rex LaRue be engaged as cook from April 13, 1954; wages $225.00 per month. Carried. The Council reviewed the position of arrears of taxes on various personal property assessments made in 1953, and it was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Secretary-Treasurer instruct our solicitors to sue delinquent ratepayers where necessary. Carried, Moved by Mr. Winther that Reeve and Secretary inter- view Mrs Florence Price regarding arrears of taxes on NE-7-31-i2-4. Carried. 4n. oved by Mr Ohlhauser that Council endorse removal of road on May 5th, 1954 at 6.00 a.m. Carried. Moved by Mr. Winther that Secretary- Treasurer be authoriz d to pay Robert Hogg and other employees the difference in cost if "CV" and ":C" licenses for their trucks. Carried.
