Mr. Schmaltz moved that Mr Christie act as auctioneer Tax Sale and that Mr. King act as clerk. Carried Mr. Schmaltz moved that the Council withdraw the applic tion made for the use of the poison 1080 for coyote contro . Carried. Mr. Campbell moved that the required amendment be made t the 1953 application for Prairie Farm Assistance so that the south portions of Township 337 Ranges 24 and 25, and th north portions of Township 32, Ranges 24 and 25, could be included for award. Carried. Mr. Wilfred Evans met the Council and discussed the tax si uation in respect to S.W.i- 33- 31 -24 -4. He stated that the t .es would be paid as soon as a cheque could be issued agains the Estate of Arthur Evans, deceased, this will likely be by the end of Januarys 1954. Council adjourned for dinner from 12:15 to 1:20 P.M. Mr. E. Fleetham, of Costello Egikipment, met with the counciL and discussed Tourna- tractors and other equipment. He als stated his Co has a used FUTD with snowplow whikh can be rented at $15.00 per hour Mr H Dean, of Cruickshank Road Machinery, mpt the Counci and discussed a 4X cu. yd. scraper for the Payloader Mr Ohlhauser moved that Mr Roy Campbell be author- ized t deliver 6 tons of coal to Mrs. Hart at Olds, at a price f $10.00 per ton. Carried. Mr. Schmaltz moved that Millican and Quigley, barristers of Calgary, be notified that the Municipal District had made arrang ments to secure gravel from N W 4- 19- 30 -25 -4 at 100 per cu yd. and that Mrs. Powlan has no valid claim for further payment Carried. Mr Campbell moved that Mr Parry and Mr King inter- view 4, Nelson Wild regarding the above Carried The report of Mr. Purvis and Mr. Olson was read in respect to Mr Geo Webber They recommended that the Drumhe ler Municipal Hospital be paid $1 80 per day from Sept ' 9 to Nov. 30, and $4.25 per day after Nov. 30, 1953, this w s agreeable to the Hospital After discussion, Mr. Schmaltz_ moved that Mr. Olson investigate this further with particular consideration of: 1. Disposition of the pension cheques 2 The opinion of the attending Doctor as to whether or not Mr Webber should be considered an actual hospital case.; and that the payment to the Hospital be with -held in the meantime. Mr Meston moved third reading to By -Law # 183 re j the sale of 69 acres of SE- 14- 29 -23 -4 to Vernon Ohlhauser for $200.00. Carried. Mr. Campbell moved lst. reading to By -Law # 187 to purchase 3 steering boosters at a total cost of $1,950.00. . Carried Mr Ohlhauser moved 2nd. reading. Carried. Mr. Schmelke moved 3rd.. reading. Carried. Mr Schmaltz moved lst reading to By -Law # 188 to J purchase cab for $315. and snowplow for $1,385. for the Hough Payloader from Industrial and Road Equipment Carried. Mr. Meston moved 2nd. reading. Carried. It was agreed that the February meeting be held on the r gular date, viz. Feb. 8/54, commencing at 10:00 A.M. Mr Schmelke moved that Mr. Olson investigate the Brune ki relief case further, and that the store be notified not t issue more than $14.00 per month until further notice A letter was askeA read asking the Council not to press for immediate collection of the taxes owing by Comet Drilling Co Mr. Schmaltz moved that the Council co- operate as requested, but ask for a further report for the meeting of Feb. 8, 1954. Carried Mr. Wm. Toews, of Linden Machine Wdlrks, met the Council; he gave the following as approximate prices: 1 $3,178 plus labor for a travelling beam and hoist compl to for the Three Hills Shop to cover full width and a len th of 50 ft. (Welding labor included in the $3,178). 2. $1,256. plus labor for a cross beam with hoist for fill width of Shop Mr. Meston moved that the complete travelling beam and h ist, etc , be ordered from Linden Machine Works on the f llowing basis. 1 Cost of supplies for welding and all materials to be subject to a 15% handling charge. 2. Labor supplied by the Machine Works to be at the rate Df $2 30 per hr 3. The Municipal District to supply as much labor as po s ible. (See page 4) J �I H 1 be dri Mr J January 11, 1954 Page 4 4. Motion carried Mr Campbell moved that an old fresn.o be sold to W. Haller for $5.00. Carried. Letters were read regarding the bridge at NW- 7- 31 -26 -4; the re ort of the committee recommended a new bridge for this 1 cation. This reno.rt was accepted Mr G King presented the paysheets. Moved by Mr. Schmalt? that all pay[sheets signed by Councillors be passed for pa lent. Carried I Mr. Schmaltz moved that 1953 holiday bonus at the require rates be paid to all regular employees (incl James Grant) ho were hired on the hourly bgsis Carried. Mr. i4eston moved that Mr. C. J. Christie be the assessof for the year 1954 Carried Mr. Ohlhauser moved that Mr C J Christie be the Inspect r of Mothers' Allowance Carried Mr. Olson moved that the assessment of 1953 be adopted for the year 1954, subject to the provisions of the Ass ssment Act. Mr Schmaltz gave a brief report of the Agricultural 'Board, mentioning in particular. 1. Municipal seed cleaning plant at Rosebud was by the Board; it is operating satisfactorily 2.
