Municipal Affairs: re: Auditor approval Alberta Motor Transport association, re: 1953 rates (gravel haul) I Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that a grant of x;200.00 be made in 1953 to The Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Carried, Secretary was instructed to inform the Board of the Drumheller Hospital District No. 3 of the contents of Mr. J. W. Judge's letter of April 16th, 1953 re guarantee of hose &tal bonds. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that this Municipal District discontinue its membership in the South Centre Alberta Association of municipal Districts. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Mr. F. B. Connors be asked to inspe t and make recommendations re the proposed work in 1953 on (a) N cmine hill road, and (b) road of west side of sections 2 and 11 29 -24 -4. Carried. Moved by Mr. Campbell that Policy No. LB -12116 with the Insurance Co. of North America be continued in force, and payment of the premiwn of $810.00 authorized. Carried. (Cheque o. 4045 Royal). Secretary was instructed to inform Milton Lyczewski to apply for permit to trap muskrats in the fall of 1953. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that By -Law No. 180 (to provide for the losing of certain roads) be forwarded to the Minister of Municipal Affairs for approval. Carried. Third reading given to By -Law No. 178 (to provide for Municipal rate of 18 mills in 1953)• Mr. Schmelke moved that said reading be approved. Carried. Mr. Schmaltz reported on his negotiattaons with the Calgary Associate Clinic regarding the account of Clarence Gutt- ridge, and it was moved by Mr. Schmelke that the Municipal Dist- rict offer $60.00 as full payment of the said account. Carried,. Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that entire Council investigate ditching job for Mills & Schmidt at next meeting. Carried. Moved by Mr. Olson that the Municipal District purchase n hose carried on the Three Hills fire- engine, the said main on the engine and to be used for country fires when ssary to draw water from cisterns, tanks, etc, Carried. I The report of the Shop and Machinery Committee was read, and it was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that approval be given to the purchaselof the following equipment: For use in Carbon shop and South camp: Heavy duty vise, Windshield wiper for A.D. -3 Motor Grader; Insulation and wiring of Carbon shop, Constant -mesh trans- missions for AD -3 and AD -4 motor graders; chassis for Grose's bunk -car S+3iiWW electric wiring in Grose's bunk -car; Taps and Dies front Gimbel for $60.00; six mattresses; one double bunk, one hydr ulic gear puller. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that approval be given to the purchase of the following equipment for the Three Hills, shop: Spare tires and tubes for Motor Graders; repairs to roof cf Elvin's bunk -car; tables for cook -car and Elvin's bunk-cari six mattresses, air compressor, Hoist for shop, provisior for water supply in shop. Carried, Mr. Meston moved that sale of old oil wagen to Wm. Howe 1 for $30.00 be approved. Carried. Secretary was instructed to investigate the possibil- ity of purchasing from North Star Oil Co. the warehouse on the C.N.R. r ght -•of -way, and also the possibility of getting water to the T ree Hills shop from the Town of Three Hills water system. Mr. Meston moved that the Sanitary Inspector of the Drumheller Health Unit be asked to investigate the proposed sewage disposal at the Torrington Hotel. Carried. Mr. Schmaltz moved that the Sanitary Inspector be asked to take the office of Fire Inspector for the Municipal District,1 Carried. in the n4 1 the 1953 informed will be 1953. Fe Mr. Schmaltz moved that the re- assessment of parcels rth- western part of the Municipal District be added to assessment roll, and that ratepayers of this area be (by advertisements in local papers) that 6% discount llowed on all payments of 1953 taxes made before July 15, rried. Council adjourned for dinner 12.15 to 1.15 p.m. Business resumed at 1.30 p.m. All Councillors were Mr. Schmelke moved that the Shop Committee investigate ility of getting gravel from bed of Red Deer River by le and clam -shell scraper. Carried, Mr. Schmelke moved that Mr. G. G. King contact Mr. .son regarding payment of Ehrman gravel account. Carried. The following parties interviewed the Council regarding the position of operator of the new Caterpillar Motor- Grader: Leslie Rist, Douglas Drummond and Stanley Copeland, The Council also gave consideration to applications submitted by Donald Henderso , Gilbert Ruby and Verne Bogner, Mr. Olson moved that Douglas Drummond be engaged as operator of the new Caterpillar Motor- Grader, wages $1.00 per hr. for first 200 hrs. then $1.30 per hr. King, Secretary of the Agricultural Service )matted the Agricultural Service Board program and agree - the Department if Agriculture. It was moved by Mr. that s�-ime be approved as submitted Carried. Secretary was instructed to get prices of carload lots of Douglas Fir and Native lumber from Whitlock Lumber Co., Drumheller, Farmers Lumber and Building supplies, Torrington, and Crown Lumber Co , Three Hills, Alta I Mr. Belsheim, Asst District Engineer, met with the Council garding the 1953 public works agreement. Mr. Ohlhauser moved that the 1953 Public works agreement be approved, and that (Reeve and Secretary- Treasurer be authorized to sign the same. Carrie( Mr. Olson moved that approval be given to the policy of local residents contributing one -third and the municipal District contributing two- thirds of local gravelling projects Carried Mr. Olson moved that future meetings of the Council start at 9 00 a.m. Mr. Ohlhauser moved that Council adjourn Time: 6.30 p m U Form 149- P— Special Carried.
