The Council of the Municipal District of Kneehill #+8 met on Monday the 11th day of May, 1953, at 10,00 a.m, Councillors present: Mr, J. W. Olson: Div, 1 Mr, J. A. Campbell: " 7 Mr. Ohlhauser moved that the minutes of the meetings held on Aril 4th, 7th and 28th, 1953, be approved. Carried. The following salesmen interviewed the Council: Mr. Morrison, representing Union Tractor Co. Mr. Robinson, " Waterous Limited. Mr. Deans, If Cruickshank R. M. Co, Mr. Dickinson, " Industrial R. E. Co. Mr. Arkley, it Westeel Products Ltd, Mr. Mackay, it Armco Drainage Products. Messrs. Martin and Graff of the Carbon area interviewed regarding the back - sloping of certain roads. Correspondence read: Western Geophysical Co. Mothers' Allowance It 11 Motor Car Supply Co. C.P.R. C.P.R. re: Work N.W. of Acme re: Rose Nikolaus re: Agnes Rasmussen re: Prestone anti- freeze re: Sharples over -pass re: Entice crossing Mr. Schmaltz moved that permission be granted the eophysical Co. to carry out seismograph exploration 0w26 --4, providing no blasting is done within � mile ngs or wells, and that no undue damage is caused to ,oulders and ditches* Carried. Mr. Ohlhauser moved that the Secretary- Treasurer be authorized to order 1953 -.1954 requirements of Anti- freeze from /0 a 7aC the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts. Carried. Meeting held May 11, 1953, Page 2. -------------------------------- - - - - -- Mr. Meston moved that Secretary- Treasurer be kuthorized survey made of the Entice crossing on C.P.R. Carried. Mr. Olson moved that application be made to the Provincial Government for financial assistance in the rebuilding of the Sharples overhead crossing on C.P.R. Carried, Messrs? Gerlitz, Paget and Beagrie interviewed the Council regarding the need for gravelling certain roads east and north of Swalwell, especially to serve a 36 passenger school bus to be put in operation in this area soon. Mr, Schmaltz moved that the Public Works Committee investigate this request and report a a later meeting. Carried. In his interview with the Council, Mr, Robinson, represen ative of Waterous Limited, stated that his company will replace he transmissions at present in the Allis-Chalmers AD -3 and AD-4 Motor Graders with constant -mesh transmissions at a cos of approximately $260.00 for each machine. Mr, Fred Lammle interviewed the Council regarding damage t his well; presumable because of blasting by the Sun Oil Co. The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to write to the Depa tment of Mines and Mineralsq and to the Sun Oil Co. for info ation regarding this matter. Council adjounned from 12,30 to 1,30 for dinner, Business resumed at 1,30 p.m. All Councillors were in atteInce. Mr. John O' Hanlon 2 owner of NE-19-29-25-41 was present2 and asked Council to take no action in the matter of closing rhe road diversion in NE- 19- 29- 25..x. that would likely result in the railway crossing just north of Acme station being closed, r. changed from a "public" crossing to a "private" cross- ing. Mr. O'Hanlon was informed that the Municipal District will supply tie material (Wire and posts) for fencing the west side of the n w road in NE- ,19 -29* -25-41 providing he (Mr, OSHanlon) does the work, He agreed to do this. Brodner and Torell met the Council, and asked that consideration be given to the grading of the two miles of road west of Sections 17 and 20-31 -23 -4. Mr. Schmaltz moved that the Public Works Committee investigate all routes in this vicinity and repo -t back to Council. Carried. Major Steele, of The Salvation Army, interviewed the Council, and made an appeal for the customary grant. Moved by Mr, Ohlhauser that grant of $700.00 be paid to The Salvation Army in 1953• Carried. Mr. Dupont, representative of Sundre Contracting Co, of Sundre, Alberta, met the Council, and quoted the following rates for loading and crushing gravel in 1953: for load ng pit -run gravel: (if over 11000 yds.) 201 per yd. It li if if It (if less than 1100o yds) 250 if to for crushing and loadings 1�11, 65¢ per yd.; 1i", 750 Per yd.; 1", 850 per yd. No extra charge for bull-crusher, if contract for crushing includes a 11 1.95 ravel crushing work, Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the Sundre Contracting Co. be given a contract for all of the Municipal District's gravel crushing work in 1953. Carried, Mr. Campbell moved that the following hauling rates be authorized for 1953 gravel work: 0 to 5 miles: 150 yd. per mile. 5ito 10 miles: 13¢ yd. per mile. Over 10 miles: 110 yd. per mile, Carried* A delegation of six ratepayers from the Lumni area met the Council and presented a petition asking that the road to the M rrin ferry from Ghost Pine Creek be routed via Lumni. It vas Pointed out that this is impossible in 1953, but that in anoth r year the road from the North -East corner of Sec. 33�: 1 -22-4 might be done east for approximately three miles. James Blanchett, Morrin, Alberta, (phone 33) met the Council pit rum gravelling. He will load pit -run gravel f iegarding r 25¢ per yd, and has trucks. No work promised to him. Mr. Craddock and Mr. Findlay, respresenting the Indemnity Insurance Co. of North Amertea, interviewed the Council regarding the endorsements added in 1953 to the Municipal District's policy No. LB -12116 Mr. Craddock explained the meaning #Ad purpose of the said endorsements. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that William Howell be paid 7¢ per mile for 900 miles for use of the truck rented from Highway Motors. Carried, Moved by Mr. Schmalke that James Ohlhauser be paid 25¢ per mile for use of 2 ton truck. Carried.
