Mr. R. W. Currie was present, and urged the Council
to give onsideration to the plea of eighteen resident rate-
payers o the Sarcee Butte - Orkney mail route, who request that
steps be taken to gravel and improve the road: From Sarcee
Butte school 2 miles south, 1 mile east, 1J miles south; � mile
east; -1, mile south; z mile east to junction with Three Hills -
Drumhell r District Highway. It was agreed that a local meet-
ing be held to discuss this matter (Manor School Apr. 5th)
Moved by Mr. C C. Campbell that the offer of
Mr. John E. Johnson, Huxley, to purchase Lot 11 Block 3
for $25. 0 cash be accepted, and that first reading be given
to by -la to provide for said sale. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Petersen that second reading be given
to by -la* No 127. Carried.

Moved by Mr. Schmelke that the Council approve of the
construction of Power transmission lines by the ELNORA WEST
RURAL ELECTRIFICATION ASSOCIATION LIMITED in Township 341
Ranges 2 and 24, as per maps submitted; further that the Council
consent o a Permissive Order being granted by the Board of
Public U ility Commissioners of the Province of Alberta, by
authorit of the Public Utilities Act. Carried.
An application for relief from Mr. Steve Gabara, of
Ghost Pi e Creek, was read. Moved by Mr. Petersen that Mr. C. J.
Christie!it}vestigate this application. Carried.
Secretary - Treasurer was authorized to issue emergent
relief to Steve Gabara, if same is required.
Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that $4.601 refund of 1949
minimum tax be paid to Henry Prohl, Sunnyslope. (Joint owner
of assessable property.) Carried.
Moved by Mr. J. W. Olson that a grant of $100.00
be paid to the Beulah Home, Edmonton. Carried.
Moved by Mr. J. A. Ohlhauser that correspondence
be filed. Carried.

for 195. Fee authorized: $675.00 Carried.
Moved by Mr. J. W. Oslon that Mr. C. J. Christie
be appoi ted Assessor of the Municipal District for 1950.

Moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that Dr. A. E. Russell
be appointed Medical Health Officer for the part of the Municipal
District which falls within the boundaries of Three Hills
Municipal Hospital District in Tps 31 and 32. Carried.
I Moved by Mr. S. C. Schmelke that Mr. W. D. Gentle-
man be appointed Weed Inspector. Carried.
Moved by Mr. J. W. Olson that Mr. W. D. Gentleman
be engaged as Field Supervisor, and that he be paid a salary
of $21701.00 in 1950, and paid 100 per mile for use of his car
in carrying out his duties. Carried.
Moved by Mr. J. W. Olson that Mr. Matthew Schmaltz
be elect d Chairman of the Agricultural Service Board. Carried.
Moved by Mr. J A Ohlhauser that Mr. F. C. Petersen
be elected member of the Agricultural Service Board. Carried.

appointed Secretary of the Agricultural Service Board. Carried.
Moved by Mr. J. A Ohlhauser that Mr J A. Findlay
be appointed Child Welfare Officer. Carried.
Moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that Mr. C. J. Christie
be appoi ted Inspector of Mothers' Allowance. Carried.
Mr. Donald Litz interviewed the Council, and requested
a permit to haul gravel from the Norquay pit to his farm, located
on NE-22-30-24-4. He was informed that this permit cannot be
issued at this time, due to a Ban of all heavy traffic.
Mr. Oscar Lusk, Mr, R B. Lauder and Mr. David Wag -
staffe interviewed the Council on the matter of the improvement
of the roads: 2 miles east of 26 and 35- 34 -24 -4, and 1 mile east
of 36-34-24-4. moved by Mr. Matthew Schmaltz that Mr. C. C. Camp -
bell meet with these men, and inspect the roads mentioned.
Carried.
It was moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that the follow-
ing be ahgaged as Operators of the Motor Graders.
Thos. Sloan, operator of 1114 -99" machine in the area
adjacent to Trochu.
Paul Elvin, operator of the "Caterpillar No. 1211
machine in the area adjacent to Three Hills.
John Esau, operator of the "AD -311 machine in the
area adjacent to Carbon
Earl Holt, operator of the "AD -4f1 machine in the

All of the above men were interviewed by the Council,
and accepted employment in the positions mentioned above.
The following applicants for employment were also
intervie ed by the Council: Victor Gresl, David Friessen,
RobertD ;ans, Bert Ginther, J. A. Christenson, Lloyd Will,
and Eric�Akerstrom.
Moved by Mr. J. W. Olson that Council do now

Moved by Mr. S. C. Schmelke that a duplicate cheque
be issue for Cheque No. T- 4619, issued to Oliver Parry for $77.55
and whie was accidentally destroyed before being cashed. Carried.

of the M�nzicipal District be cancelled on Monday the 10th day

requisit ons be accepted; and that the rates of taxation shown
above be authorized for 1950; and that first reading be given
to By-Lay No. 128 to authorize the said rates of taxation.

The Secretary- Treasurer submitted an estimate of
Receipts and Expenditures for year 1950, and after considerable
discussi n and review it was moved by Mr. S. C. Schmelke that
the said estimates be accepted, and a rate of Nineteen (19)
mills for municipal purposes in 1950 be authorized. Carried.
Mr. J. A. Ohlhauser moved that the Provincial
Departme t of Public Works be requested to re- condition
Highway o. 26 (From Grainger corner to Carbon & South to
Drumhell r trail junction). Carried.
Mr. G G King, Assistant Secretary - Treasurer,
presented the pay - sheets, and it was moved by Mr. J. W Olson
that samie be passed for payment. Carried.

view No. 49 regarding the matter of having the Provincial Govern-
ment tak over the Olds Town -line as a Provincial Highway.

a letter from Department of Public Works advising of the fact
that cer ain roads in the Municipal District are now classified
as Distr ct Highways. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that this letter be

G. G. King be granted leave of absence to attend the Secretary -
Treasuer ' Convention in Banff on May 25- 26 -27, 1950. Carried.
Moved by Mr. M. Schmaltz that each delegate attend-
ing Conv ntion be paid $40.00 expenses. Carried.
Moved by Mr Ohlhauser that F. C. Petersen's expense
account f $30.25 for attending Agricultural Service Board
conference in Edmonton be passed for payment. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Mr. A. E. Staite, contractor,
be given permission to proceed with the maintenance and rebuild-
ing of the road leading east from Highway No. 21 to the location
of the G f Oil well on NE- 14- 34 -22 -4, the said maintenance and
re -build ng to be under the supervision and control of Mr. C. C.
C ampbelly Carried.
Mr. A. E. StaitZe also interviewed the Council on the
matter of gravel work in working season of 1950.

start work as soon as feasible in Division No. 6. Carried.

permitted to expend a reasonable amount on public works until
