It was moved by Mr Schmaltz that the Minutes of the

it was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Mr Findlay be in-
t the Council endorses the action taken by him in the

It was moved by Mr. Petersen that a load of coal be
supplied to the Schmaltz family, as requested in letter of
December 29th7 1949. Carried.
Mr. Olson reported on the work being done on the
Wm. R. F rguson house; and it was moved by Mr. Petersen that $r.
Olson be instructed to have a proper and safe chimney built on
the said house Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the application
of Farm Ilectric Services Limited, Calgary, for permission to
build el'ctric power lines in the Beiseker area as per maps
be appro ed. Carried.

The Council reviewed the rates of relief being paid
irious indigent families of the Municipal District, and
>ved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the following changes be made
ivments.
Mrs. Amy Gore. reduced from $25.00 to $10.00 per month.
Mrs. Bertha Buchert: increased from $20 00 to $35.00
Miss Dixon: $ 20 00 per month allowance authorized at
C. H. Na8h Store in Carbon.
Mrs. Arnold Friesin. $20.00 per month allowance.
Carried.
It was moved by Mr. J. A. Ohlhauser that the offer
of Mr Sam Garrett, of Carbon, Alta to purchase Lots 27, 28,
297 30 and 31, Block 4, Hamlet of Swalwell, for :100.00, cash,
be accepted, and that Council proceed to pass first reading
of By-La�w No. 123 to provide for the said sale. `ar.ried.
Second reading given to By -Law No. 123, and moved by
Mr. Petersen that same be passed and approved. Carried.
The Council adjourned for lunch at 12.00 noon, and
resumed �usiness at 1.45 p.m.
Mr W. D Gentleman, Field Sgpervisor, and Mr G G.
King, Secretary of the Agricultural Service Board, submitted
the program of the Agricultural Service Board for 1949; and
it was moved by Mr. J A Ohlhauser that same be accepted and
approved. Carried.
It was moved b Mr. Schmelke that the matter of the
leasing f the N2 and SE* of 13.31 -26-»4 be referred to Mr.
Gentleman and Mr. J P Ferguson for further consideration
Carried.
I The resolution of the A S.B. regarding the establish-
ment of a sub - station of the Department of Agriculture in the
Acme area was read, and it was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that same
be endorsed by the Council and Secretary be instructed to make
application for the establishment of this sub - station. Carried.
H. J. Gimbel and William Howell, road foremen, met
with the Council and discussed matters related to machinery
and public works.
Messrs. Bell and Morrison, representatives of the
Union Tractor and Equipment Co Calgary, met with the Council,
and the following arrangements were made, and accepted by
the Council.
1. Cable Control Unit for new D -8 tractor is now in
Calgary, and same will be shipped to Carbon in immediate fut-
ure.
2. Mr. Bell agreed to deliver a tractor equipped with
bull-dozer to Carbon to replace D -7 tractor when required; the
Municip 1 District to return said machine to Calgary when work
is comp eted.
3. Delivery of hydraulic bull -dozer for new D -8 tractor
is guar nteed by the end of February, 1950.
I"4r. Petersen moved that a telephone be installed in the
Three Hills shop, with extension bell to be installed in bunk -car.
Carried.

It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that an extra fan and
joint for the Rotary snow -plow be purchased. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the ceiling of the
Carbon shop be insulated with Zonolite. Carried.
Mr. William Howell, foreman, was instructed to repair
track pl tes on the D -8 tractor, and to postpone general over-
haul until later date.
Mr. E. Fleetham, representative of Costello Equipment
Co. Ltd. Calgary, interviewed the Council and quoted prices and
data on FWD motor trucks.
Mr. G. G. King, Assistant Secretary - Treasurer, sub-
mitted the pay - sheets, and it was moved by Mr. S. C. Schmelke
that same be passed for payment. Carried.
Mr. C. J. Christie, Assistant Secretary - Treasurer,
submitted the accounts; and it was moved by Mr. J. A. Ohlhauser
that the following accounts be passed for payment.
