held a regular meeting on Monday the 12th day of December, 1949,

It was moved by Mr. C. C. Campbell that the minutes of
us meeting of the Council be adopted and approved.

It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that approval of the
given to the application of Mr. I. Klassen for
to operate a butcher business at Linden, Alberta.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the contract pre-
pared by Mr. J. P. Ferguson, between the Municipal District and
Walter 0 Haining, be accepted; that payment of $25.00 compensa-
tion to Walter 0 Haining be authorized, and that the fee of
$10.00 to Mr. Ferguson for preparing contract be paid. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. S. C. Schmelke that John Esau,
Ayleswor h Petersen and A. J. Purvis be instructed to attend the
preliminary hearing of the Fuller claim in Calgary on Dec. 13th,
1949. Carried.

It was moved by Mr. F C Petersen that the account
of Dr. R th Johnstone- Harvey, of Olds, Alberta, for $35.00,
being medical services for Mrs. Jake Enzie, of Torrington, Alta.
be accepted by the Municipal District and paid. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that 1949 taxes on
Lot 36, lock 8, Three Hills, for X3,78 be paid. Carried.

The Secretary - Treasurer reported to the Council that
iry 8th, 19497 58 acres of SW- 27-31 -24 -4 was bought by
of Three Hills as site for reservoir. It was moved by
Petersen that the data on Tax Roll Card No. 6107 for
•24-4 be altered as follows.
Acreage: from 157.50 acres to 99.43 acres
Assessment: from $2,740 to $2,370
1949 Levy- from $134.53 to $116.37 Carried.
It was moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that the request
MacDonald for 5 discount on 1949 taxes paid on Nov. 22,
refused. Carried.
I Third reading was given to By -Law No. 120 (a by-law
to provi e for compromise in the payment of arrears of taxes);
and it w s moved by Mr. Schmaltz that same be passed and approved.
Carried.
The account of the six members of the Council present
were sub itted by the Assistant Secretary- Treasurer, Mr, C. J.
Christie and it was moved by Mr. C C. Campbell that the said
accounts be passed for payment. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that each delegate who
attended the 1949 Convention of the A.A M.D. be paid $35.00 for
expenses parried.

It was moved by Mr. F. C Petersen that Robert Hogg,
employee, be given leave of absence for the winter months. married.
14r. Parry reported that the D«-7 tractor can be kept
until thq bull -dozer and other equipment for the new D--8 tractor
is delivered.

Council adjourned for lunch at 1.00 p.m. and resumed
at 2.00 p.m.
Mr. Artley, representative of Westeel Products Limited,
Ted the Council, and agreed to the return of 200 steel
!ch were not suitable for snow - fence, and he was also
order for 86 signs of various kinds.
Mr. Edward Schaffer interviewed the Council on the
matter o road diversion in NW- 31- 31-25 -4. This diversion is
no longer needed as a road, as the road has been built on the
road allowance on the north side of Sec. 31 -31- 25.4. It was
moved by Mr. Schmelke that Mr. Schaffer be offered the land
in the road diversion as compensation for borrow pit and other
damages t the time the road on the north side of Sec. 31- »31 --25 -4
was built, also that the diversion (Survey No. 6927) be cancelled
and area added to the title of NW -31-31 -25-4, on condition that
Mr. Schaffer repair the fence on the north side of NW- 31- 31- 25-4.
Carried. Mr. Schaffer accepted this offer of settlement.

Mr. Claude Webb and Mr. B. 0. Brown, of Acme Board of
erviewed the Council on the matter of snow - removal
winter months. They requested that one of the Municipal
motor -- graders with snow -plow be stationed at Acme.
r. Schmaltz that this request be granted, and steps
arry out same. 1,arried.
I Mr. G. G. King, Asst. Secretary- Treasurer, submitted
the work - sheets, and it was moved by Mr, F. C. Petersen that same
be passed for payment. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the D -7 tractor be
released to the Union Tractor and Equipment Co Calgary, Alberta,
as per agreement, on condition that the said company give a
written guarantee to supply this Municipal District with a similar
machine, free of cost, at any time it is required until the
auxiliar equipment for the new D -8 engine (Bull -dozer and
cable co trol unit) is delivered by the Union Tractor and Equip-
ment Co. Carried,
Mr. K P Jensen, representing Industrial Road Equip-
ment Limited was present and interviewed the Council. He report-
ed that D -1� International Tractors are now available. It was
moved by Mr. C C Campbell that this Municipal District purchase
from Industrial Road Equipment Limited, Calgary, Alberta, one
TD-r18 In ernational Crawler Tractor, equipped with wide guage,
lights, tarter, etc, for the sum of $12,618.00, F.O.B. Calgary,
Alberta, to be paid for in the following manner:
1. By the delivery to the Industrial Road Equipment
Limited cf one used TD -18 International Tractor, Serial No.
TDR -2692 for which there shall be allowed the sum of $4,500,00
and
2. By the payment of $8,118.00, cash. Carried.
First, second and third readings given to By-Law No.
122 to p oxide for this purchase, and it was moved by Mr. Camp-
bell thal said readings be passed and approved. 'arried.
Mr. Fleetham, representing Costello Euipment Co., and
Mr, Forr ster, representing Cruickshank Road Machinery Co were
present d interviewed the Council.
Mr. Paget, Mr. Hay and Mr. Lapp, representing the
Swalwell Board of Trade, interviewed the Council on the matter
of fire Irotection for the hamlet. They were instructed to
have the Swalwell Board of Trade meet with Mr. Ohlhauser on this
matter.
I Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the following arrangements
and appointments be made for the annual meeting of ratepayers
and norm ation for councillors
