Mr. Schmaltz moved that the letter from Edward Wilson
relief be tabled, Carried.
Mr. John Peck was present and interviewed the Council
on the mitter of arrears of taxes on 52 -5 -29- 21-»4. It was moved
by Mr. S hmaltz that the sum of $844.05 now held as proceeds of
the 1949 crop be applied in the arrears of taxes (less 25 %),
then on 4he 1949 taxes (less 5 %) and the balance of $70.41 be
accepted as payment of the Seed Grain Acct. Carried.

Moved by Mr. S. C. Schmelke that the Sunniyridge
Co. be paid 50¢ per pole for the moving of the
line. Carried.
Mr. Petersen moved that payments be made for gravel
used in 1949 as per cheques #922 to 932, inclusive. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the assignment made
by Will am Howell to the Treasury Branch 025.00 per month
for 4 months, starting in November, 19491 be accepted, and
deductions be made accordingly Carried.
Mr, H. Torgersen was present and interviewed the
Council on the matter of 1949 taxation on his property
(152 acres of NE-18- 32- 23-4). After condideration the Council
informed Mr Torgersen that no adjustment can be made in his
assessor nt for 1949; and it was moved by Mr. S. C Schmelke
that Mr Torgersen's appeal for reduction in levy be dis-
missed. Carried.
Mr. Petersen moved that the letter of the F.U.A
regardi g Drumheller Rest -Room be tabled. Carried.
Mr. Wm. Davis, Chairman of Olds School Division #31
was present, and interviewed the Council on the matter of
school buildings in Didsbury and Carstairs.

H J Gimbel, foreman of the South Camp, was present
ed that the following work should be done to the

Heavy duty track guards put on the new D-»8 engine
New pistons and cylinder sleeves put in the AD-3
Motor Grader
New crankshaft put in the IHC motor on the Adams
elevating grader
Mr. Gimbel also reported that the following repairs
made to the D..7 tractor, which will be turned over
ractor Co. in near future* Repairs to radiator, and
the oil -line in the power outlet. The Council
Mr. Gimbel to have these repairs made before the
delivered to Union Tractor Co.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the Reeve and the
Secretar,- Treasurer be authorized to interview the M D 's
of Three Eills and make an effort to settle the problem of
Medical Health Officer for the Prairie Bible Institute. Carried.
William Rilling was present, and asked the Council
to assis him in buying coal for winter, and seed for 1950
crop N action was taken in this matter.
Mr Morrison, representative of the Union Tractor
and Equi went Co., Calgary, waw present, and reported to the
Council that he had no definite information regarding the date
when auxiliary equipment for the new D-8 engine would be
available.
It was moved by Mr. Petersen that the following
adjustme t in the assessment of SE«- 3631 -»24 -4 be authorized-
SE-36-11-24-4: 1948 assessment: 151.22 acres & $3,680
194 -8q 11 135. 11 & $3,310
(This reduction in assessment being brought about
by the r moval of 5 acres for town disposal plant, and the
separate assessment of 10 acres of subdivision). Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Campbell that first reading be
given tojBy »Law No. 120 (Section 332 of the M D Act) to
provide gor compromise in the payment of arrears of taxes,

Per. F. C. Petersen reported to the Council that Mr.
)avidson had dome work to the approximate value of X50 00
ig culverts, and had accepted as full payment for his
;ain amounts of used timber from one of installations
►rt was accepted and endorsed by the Council.
The Secretary. - Treasurer was asked to secure the
endprsation of the Board of Management of the Linden Co -Op.
Dairy Limited to the application for a butcher's 1&cense from
Mr. Isaac Klassen, of Linden, Alberta.
Mr, F. C. Peterseh moved that first reading be given
to By --Law No. 121, being a By -Law to provide for the purchase of
Lot 361 Elock 8, Three Hills Plan 4304 A.H. from Douglas Lyster
for $50.00, cash Carried. (Cheque 1114 Royal Bank)
Second reading was given to By-Law No. 121, and it was
moved by Mr. Olson that same be passed and approved. Carried.
third reading was given to By -Law No. 121, and it was
moved by Mr. S. C. Schmelke that same be passed and approved
Carried.
Secretary-Treasurer reported to Council that Tony
Litvak, f Trochu, Alberta, was in need of indigent relief;
and it w s moved by Mr. F C Petersen that $b10.00 per month
in groce y allowance be granted to him Carried.
Mr. Olson and Mr. Petersen reported to the Council that
they had investigated the matter of an outlet for Mr. Carl
Steinbach (owner of E2 »23 »28- 22 -4), and they recommend that a
"Forced road" be surveyed on the south side of NWT- 23 -28- -22-4
and that Mr. Steinbach be asked to pay 40% of the cost of the
said wor (surveying, grading, etc.). If this offer is not
acceptable to Mr. Steinbach the committee recommends that a
road be built on the east side of NE-23 »28- X22 -4.
Mr. Olson reported to the Council that he had
engaged Mr. Parge of Drumheller to move Mr. Wm. Ferguson's
house upon its foundation, and that he has authorized imitation
brick siting for the outside finish of the house.
It was moved by Mr. Olson that notice be placed in
all local papers having circulation within the Municipal Dist-
rict regarding the setting up of a "T B. -free area" of this
Municipal District. Carried.
