The Council of the Municipal District of Kneehill #48
held a meeting on Friday the 8th day of July, 1949, starting
at 10.00 a.m.

It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the minutes of the
last Co cil Meeting be adopted with the following correction
to the m nute on Page 3:

The Secretary- Treasurer submitted the Financial State-
ment for month of June, 1949:

It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the Financial State-
ment be 4dopted and approved. Carried.
(Mr. Ohl.hauser reported to the Council that the trans-
mission Df the "AD -3" Motor Grader is giving trouble, and
recomme ed that a delegation of the Council interview Waterous
Limited, Calgary in the matter of an adjustment and settle-
ment for same. �JzIX`J$AX It was moved by Mr. Petersen that
Mr. Ohl user and Mr. Schmaltz be appointed to interview
Waterous;Limited in this matter. Carried.

It was moved by Mr. C. C. Campbell that Mr. R. W.

In the matter of the petition of residents of the
Ghost Pi re area for a bridge at 9/16 -31- 22•-47 it was moved by
Mr. Matt4 Schmaltz that Mr. F. C. Petersen be instructed to
investig to this matters and report at next meeting of the
Council. Carried.

It was moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that the approval
of the Council be given to the application of Jos. Frolek for
License o install and retail Lightning rods and equipment.
Carried.
Moved by Mr. C. C. Campbell that the insurance on
the four municipal engines and the Chevrolet truck be renewed
in the a encies of Mr. S. F. Torrance, Carbon. Carried.
Mr. R. W. Currie was present, and submitted a petition
signed by 18 ratepayers of the Orkney area, asking for the gravel-
ing of S rcee Butte School - Orkney School road. The Secretary-
Treasure was instructed to file said petition with the 1950
public w rks business.
Mr. Fred Metz and Mr. J. J. Smith interviewed the
Council cn the matter of tax exemption for the I. 0. 0. F. hall
in Sunny lope. They were advised to file an appeal on assess -
ment, which would be heard by the Court of Revision.
Moved by Mr. J. A. Ohihauser that Russell Snell be
paid for 2,884 yds. gravel @ 10¢ per yd. Carried.
Moved by Mr. S. C. Schmelke that Edward Ehrman be
paid $20C.00 on gravel account. Carried.
Moved by Mr. J. A. Ohlbuser that 12¢ per yd. be paid
in 1949 for screening of gravel. Carried.
Mr. G. G. King, Asst. Secretary - Treasurer, submitted
the labo pay - sheets and gravel work- sheetst and it was moved
by Mr. J. A. Ohihauser that the accounts approved by the Councilor
concerned be now passed for payment. Carried.
The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to advise Mr.
J. A. Findlay of Judge McDonald's ruling re Carl Schmaltz family,
and to instruct Mr. Findlay to follow up the re- establishment
of the cbildren of the said family as per The Child Welfare Act.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Carl Schmaltz be
informed that the Council will not allow persons, other than
members of the Carl Schmaltz family to reside or loiter in
the house occupied by the said famiiy. Carried.

The Council adjourned at 4.30 p.m. and resumed busi-

Wm. Howell was present, and discussed with the Council
r of transportation in the "North Camp ". It was moved

Messrs. Costello & Fleetham met with the Council,
regarding Tournadozer equipment, and offered to demonstrate
machinery during coming winter and spring of 1950.
Mr. S. C. Schmelke moved that the 11212" Caterpillar
Motor Grader be sold to Costello Equipment Co. Calgary for
$7,300,00, cash, and that first reading of by -law to provide
for same be now passed and approved. Carried.
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that second reading of by -law ,.
