The Council of the Municipal District of Kneehill #48
held a regular meeting on Monday the 13th day of June
1949, starting at 10.00 a.m.
Councillors present: Mr. J. W. Olson, Mr. J. A. Ohlh-
auser, Mr. Matt. Schmaltz, Mr. Hugh Parry, Mr. F. C.
Petersen, Mr. S. C. Schmelke and Mr. C C. Campbell.
It was moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that the minutes of
the meeting held on June 6th, 1949 be adopted. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that approval of the
Council be granted to the application of Mr. Donald L.
Smith, of Three Hills, for a License to operate a
gasoline pump at his premises at the Three Hills Air-
port. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that application be
made to a Judge of the District Court for a decision
on the responsibility of this Municipal District or
the Village of Beiseker to provide for the Carl Schmaltz
family. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that all business trans-
acted at the special meeting held on June 6th, 1949, be
approved and accepted. Carried.
Mr. J. W. Olson reported on his investigations into the
affairs of the Wm. R. Ferguson family- Living conditions
have recently been investigated by Mr. Pow, of the Child
Welfare Bureau; Mr, Pow is unwilling to allow older
children to return home until house is made more comfort-
able; plans are under way to move house from its present
location to lands owned by 'dim. R. Ferguson at NE- 23-29.
21-4. It was moved by Mr. Matt, Schmaltz that the
report be accepted, and payment of $200.00 for moving
of house be authorized. Carried.
The Council adjourned for dinner at 12.15, and resumed
business at 1.30 p.m.
Wm. and Harold Richfadson interviewed the Council on
the matter of an accident in which their truck was
involved. They produced a bill for $174.00 repairs,
AM1$X0$ and other damage and loss, and asked Council
to pay same. It was moved b Mr. Matt. Schmaltz that
compensation for the sum of 100.00 be offered in
settlement of this claim. Carried. This offer of
settlement was refused.

It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the material for
the repair of the following bridges be charged to
"General account" of the Municipal District:
Floyd Coulee: 16-29 -24..4
Anton Hagel. North of 19 -28 -26..4
South of Allingham- 26 & 27- 31 -26 »4
Bechthold: Between 6.»28 -23 & 1.28 -24
mile east of Three Hills rural school. 12- 31 -24 -4
mile west of Prairie Valley School: 29- 31 -26 -4
1 mile east of Smouse creek school: 29 & 30- 32 -26 »4

Moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that Mr. C. C. Campbell be
authorized to investigate the offer of Mr. E. F. Moran
to buy platform scale at Huxley for $30.00 Carried
Mr. Fleetham, representative of Costello Equipmxt Co.
interviewed the Council, and discussed the matter of
the Tournadozer machine now on trial order.
Moved by Mr. Petersen that the order for purchase of
this machine be cancelled. Carried.
Moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that next regular meeting
of the Council be held on Friday July 8th, 1949 at 10.00
a.m. Carried.
Mr. Gus. Schmidt of Three Hills, was present, and
discussed with the Council the matter of subdivision of
part of SE -36•- 31.24..4, and proposed addition of
this subdivision to the Town of Three Hills. It was
moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that the application of
the Town of Three Hills for the approval of the Munic-
ipal District be tabled until next meeting of the
Council. Carried.
Moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that Mr. C. C. Campbell
be authorized to investigate conditions in home of
Mrs. Kessel, Hurley, Carried,
Mr. Jensen, representing Industrial & Road Equipment
Limited, interviewed the Council; also Mr. Yorgan
representing Waterous Limited.
The Council examined the pay- sheets for month of
May, 1949, and it was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that
the pay - sheets which have been approved by the Councillor
concerned bjr now passed for payment. Carried.
Mr. C. J. Christie, Asst. Secretary - Treasurer,
submitted the accounts, and it was moved by Mr. J. A.
Ohlhauser that the following accounts be paid:

ouncil the allocation of Govt. Grants for roads in 1949.
It was moved by Mr. J. W. Olson that the Reeve and
Secretary - .Treasurer be authorized to sign Art /icles of
Agreement with the Provincial Govermmnt, providing
for Government Grants on the 1160. -40" basis at the

The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed by the
Council to request the Provincial Departmnt of
Public. Works to replace bridges at the following
locations with steel culverts.
(Frank Pagetts) North of Sec. 36- 29 -24 -4
(North Side of 20-31-22-4),L-mile south of
Ghost Pine Store. 0 feet of 36 inch culvert.
Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Matt. Schmaltz that the next
meeting of the Council be held on Tuesday June 21st
1949, at 10.00 a,m. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. S. C. Schmelke that Council do
now adjourn. Carried.
