The Council of the Municipal District of Kneehill #48 held a special meeting on Monday the 6th day of June, 19499, The Council assembled at 10.00 a.m. on the road allow. ance on the West side of Sec. 12- 31 -23 -4, and there inpected the work being done by the Tournadozer mach- ine, which has been placed on trial order. Councillors present: J. A. Ohlhauser, Matt. Schmaltz, Hugh Parry, F. C. Petersen, S. C. Schmelke and C. C. Campbell. Councillor absent: J. W. Olson. At 1.30 p.m. the Six Councillors named above assembled in the Municipal Office for the transaction of busi- ness, It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the minutes of the previous council meeting (on May 9th and 10th, 1949) be adopted and approved. Carried. The Secretary - Treasurer submitted the Financial State- ment for the month of May, 1949: Receipts: Bank balances May 1st, 1949: 43, 362. 12 Cash on hand it It 'i 139. 29 Receipts in May, 1949: 619 097. 69 0. Public Works re: 1949 grants It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the account of Emil Fischer for $16925 pound - keeper's fees be paid. Carried. It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that Mr. George Beagrie be advised that Lot 361 Blk. 4, Swalwell, may be bought for $20.00. Carried. It was moved by Mr. Schmelke that the Council approve of the application of Ludwig Ganske for a License to retail Sporting Goods, Bicycles & accessories, Jewelry and shoe repairs at Torrington, Alberta. Carried. It was moved by Mr. Petersen that the account of John Prohl for $12.50 pound - keeper's fees be paid. Carried. It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that Application be made to the Department of Public Works to have the following roads named as District Highways: 1. From Carbon Cemetery North via. Mount Vernon School to NE corner of 35-11 »23-4: 15 miles 2. From SE corner of 4- 32 -22 -4 north to NE corner of 9 -33- 22•-4: 8 miles 3. From NW corner of 19- 33 -26 -4 east to Highway #21: 19 miles 4. From NE corner of 8.-29 -24.4 south to Highway #9. 6 miles 5. From NE corner of 34-29 -25.4 south to SE corner of 3- 28-25 -4: 12 miles 6. From NE corner of 20- 29 -26 -4 south to SW corner of 4.•28- 26-4• 8 miles 7. From NE corner of SE-8-29-23.4 south 5� miles to Highway #9 Carried. It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Mr. C. C. Campbell be authorized to interview Mr. Robert Hogg re the matter of work for this Municipal District, Carried. It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the Child Welfare officer of this Municipal District, Mr. J. A. Findlay be instructed to meet with Mr. C. F. Lohrke, Child Welfare Officer of the Village of Beiseker, and that they be asked to investigate conditions in the house- hold of Carl Schmaltz, Beiseker. Carried. Anthony DeBoer interviewed the Council. Third reading was given to By-Law No. 113, being a By -Law to provide for the sale of Lots 37 & 38, Block 4, Swalwell, to Mr. G. W. Wacker. It was moved by Mr. Petersen that third reading of this by -law be passed and approved. Carried, The Secretary - Treasurer reported on his interview with G. W. H. Millican, and The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Co., Calgary regarding the Ceefried, Fuller and Richardson accidents. It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the account of Millican and Millican for $50.00 legal fees be paid. Carried. Mr, C. J. Christie, Asst. Secretary - Treasurer, submitted the accounts, and it was moved by Mr. C. C. Campbell that the following accounts be passed for payment: T-4516 Drumheller S.
