Campbell, Mr. J. W Olson moved that Mr. Hugh Parry be elected Reeve for 1949. Carried, Mr. M Schmaltz moved that nominations be closed. Carried. Mr. C. C. Campbell moved that Mr. M. Schmaltz be elected as Deputy Reeve for first six months of 1949. Carried. Mr. J. A. Ohlhauser moved that the Minutes of the last Council 14eeting be adopted and approved. Carried. Davidson for renewal of Restaurant Licenseiin Hamlet of Sunnyslope. Carried. Moved by Mr. F C Petersen that recommendation be made to the Director of Surveys, Department of Public Works, Edmonton, Alberta, that a portion of Survey No, 1307 M. D. (SW-26-31-24-4) be cancelled, the said portion being that area marked iln green on the plan submitted by J. H. Holloway, Directo of Surveys, and filed in Municipal District records. Carried. (Reference, Surveys File). Also ¢#33 survey. Mr Walter Pastorchik was present, and discussed with the Council the matter of a foot - bridge built by him across the Ghost Pine Creek on Sec. 9- 31 -22 -4. He reports that the bridge is of benefit to other people, and asked the Council to palt him for the cost of construction. It was moved by Mr. M. Schmaltz that this matter be taken up with the District Engineer of the Department of Public Works, and the local board of Sarcee School. Carried Mr. J. A. Ohlhauser moved that the Council authorize the lifting and cessation of the Ban on Municipal roads on Saturday the 2nd day of April, 1949 at 1.00 p.m. Carried. The claim of R A Muench for damages of $26. 75 to his tru k was read to the Council. It was moved by Mr. M. Schmalt that this claim be refused; and that Mr. Muench be so advi I ed. Carried. It was moved by Mr. J. W. Olson that the a6fer of the Provincial Government to make a grant of 3sO00 to the building and gravelling of the "Dinosaur Trails' project, being the road leading north 22 miles from Orkney School; then east 11 miles; then no�th- easterly about 12 miles to the Morrin Ferry; be accepted. Carried. Moved by Mr. J. A. Ohlhauser that Mr. F. C. Petersen, Mr, J. Olson, Mr, H. J. Gimbel and Mr. Wm. Howell be appointed to to i vestigate this project, a nd make an appraisal of the cos is and other problems involved, and report on same to next meeting of the Council. Carried, Mr. M. Campbell, reported on their trip to the Leduc oil - fields where they saw Tournadozer machines in operation. Mr. E. Petersen moved that application be made to .neial Government for a grant of $20,000 to be earned ender the "60 -40" plan. Carried. Mr, J. W. Olson moved that application be made to the Provinci 1 Government for an out -right grant in 1949 of $3,000 for the three Hills - Drumheller road. Carried. Mr. S. C. Schmalke moved that application be made to the Ppovineial Government for an out -right grant of $3,000 in 1949 on the Olds- Trochu road (Olds Town - line). Carried, The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to request the Dist�ict Engineer, Department of Public Works, to attend the next council meeting. It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the office staff be paid the following salaries in 1949: A. J Purvis, Secretary - Treasurer, $3,000; C. J. Christie, Assistant Secretary - Treasurer $2,600, and G. G. King, Assistant Secretary- Treasurer, $29600. Carried. It was moved by Mr, J. W. Olson that the Municipal District' donate to the Swalwell and District Curling Club and Communit Centre Lots 9, 10, 40, 41 and 42, Block 6, Swalwell as a sit for a curling rink and community centre; also that applieat on be made to the Board of Public Utility Commissioners for the lancellation of 55 feet of lane lying between lots 9 & 10 and lot 112. Carried. The Secretary - Treasurer reported to the Council that during the years 1936 to 1948 inclusive taxes on lot 11, Block 2, Allin ham, had been paid by Simon Megli on an assessment basis, a d that during the same period taxes on a business tax basis ha been paid by Chas. S. Cook; that Chas. S Cook had purchasei the property from Simon Megli in 1936 under an agree- ment for sale; that the sum of $104.33 was due to Simon Megli for over payment of taxes on the said property. It was moved by Mr. Campbell that refund of $104.33 be made to Simon Megli. Carried. (Cheque 4431 Treasury Branch). Moved by Mr. J A. Ohlhauser that Robertson, Anderson and Co.,;Red Deer, be appointed Auditors for 1949, and that they be paid 0650.00 for 1949 audit fees. Carried. Moved by Mr. Campbell that C. J.
