The Council of the Yunicipal District of Kneehill #48
held a r gular meeting on Monday the 10th day of January, 1949,
startinglat 10.00 a.*n
Councillors present: John W Olson, John A. Ohlhauser,
Matthew chmaltz, Hugh Parry, F C. Petersen, S. C. Schmelke and
C. C. Ca .pbell.
It was moved by I!r. Ohlhauser that the minutes of the
last meeting of the Council be adopted Carried

for the
onth of December, 1948.

The ,Secretary - Treasurer was instructed
to change
the
location
of the Poll at Twining from Chester Parkerts house
to
H. Loosmorels
house in Twining.
Mr. Olson reported to the Council that he had attended
the heari g and investigation held by Thos, W. Bennett, Judge
of the J enile Court into the affairs of the family of William
Ferguson, of the Orkney district- the said hearing being held in
Drumhelle on December 20th, 194. The report shows that the
three chi dren were found to be neglected children and were taken
to the Dr eller Municipal Hospital and The Salvation Army Citadel,
Drumhelle , for treatment and care. It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz
that Mr, lson and Mr. Purvis be appointed a Committee to keep in
touch wit this family, and to report on same at later meeting of
the Counc 1. Carried
It was moved by Mr. Campbell that the following accounts
incurred n behalf of the Ferguson family be paid:

!The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to get informa-
tion on the matter of Building By -Law for use in the hamlets of
the Munic''ipal District.
It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the #212 Caterpillar
in
Motor Grader be offered for sale for $87500 00, ano advertised Carried.

The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to investigate
the re si ence of Iu1r. . John F Cunningham, applicant for Old Age
Pension Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Campbell treat $4.00 poll tax paid
in 1948 by W. A. Barnes and J D Barnes be refunded: as informa-
tion has been given that these parties became owners of assessable
property on Aug. 26th, 1948. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Olson that the application of Mrs.
Rosie Sc artzenberger for Mothers' Allowance be approved, and
recommen ati.on made that an allowance of $50.00 per month be paid
to her. Carried.
'It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the Council approve
of the proposal made by the Clerk of the City of Drumheller that
the Bala ce of $100.70 now in the account of the Local Ration
Board belgiven as a contribution to the Community Chest. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Campbell that approval be given to the
application of W. A. 1Vlittelmeijer for a Confectionery license.
Carried.
Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that approval be given tc the
application of George Keim for a Hardware License. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Petersen that Correspondence be filed for
future re�Cerence. Carried.
It was moved by Yr Schmelke that:
WHEREAS no other source of electric power is available
to the Hallets of Torrington and Wimborne; and
WHEREAS Canadian Utilities Limited have made application
to serve these Hamlets,
The Municipal District of Kneehill #48 hereby expressly
consents to the granting of a permit to Canadian Utilities Limited
to serve the Hamlets of Torrington and Wimborne at the rates sub-
mitted a along the route covered by the maps submitted to the
Municipa District by Canadian Utilities Limited. Carried.
Mr. C. J. Christie reported to the Council that he had
investigated conditions in the home of 1rs. Bruneski, Drumheller,
on J60�. 4th, 1949. It was moved by 14r. Campbell that recommendation
Jan. be made to the Mothers' Allowance Branch that Mrs. Br��n-
eskits a lowance be kept at $14.00 per month. Carried

Elvin's account
Mr. G. G. King, Assistant Secretary - Treasurer, submitted
the Pay4sheets for the month of December, 1948; and it was moved
by Mr. etersen that the Pay - sheets which have been approved by
the Councillor concerned be now passed for payment. Carried.
11 It was moved by Mr. J. W. Olson that the following
amounts be charged the Divisions for Snow - plowing*
Patrol and V Plow. $3.00 per hour
Patrol & Rotary Plow: $5.00 per hour
Caterpillars & Dozers. $4.00 per hour
Also that an additional allocation for Snow- plowing
be given consideration for any Division that can show special
conditions to warrant the same. Carried.
Mr. W. D. Gentleman, Field Supervisor, interviewed the
Council, and discussed Grasshopper control, and the seeding of
road allowances with Grass -seed.
Mr. Fleetham, respresentative of Costello Equipment
Co. Ltd* interviewed the Council and showed a film of Tourna-
pulls ir operation.
Mr. C. J. Christie, Assistant Secretary- Treasurer,
submitt d the accounts; and it was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that
