held a r gular meeting on Monday the 13th day of December, 1948,
starting at 10.00 a,m.

Shyka for $78.50 in the Calgary General Hospital be paid. Carried.
Correspondence from The Prairie Bible Institute and the
Calgary eneral Hospital shows that Mrs, Caroline Petrie is a
resident of the Town of Three Hills, and a student at The Prairie

Bible Institute. It was moved by Yr Ohlhauser that
the Secretary. - Treasurer be instructed to inform the Calgary
General 4ospital that this Municipal District disclaims any
responsi ility for the hospital account of Mrs, C. Petrie for
reasons �tated above Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the Holy Cuoss
Hospital be advised of the financial position of Mr. Frank
Ranostaj, of Three Hills, Alta Carried.
Moved by Mr. Petersen that the account of the Ghost
Pine Mut al Telephone Co. for re- setting poles $48.00 be paid.
Carried.
Moved by Mr. Campbell that payment of the 1948 requis-
ition of $340.00 be made to the Drumheller Health Unit, and said
payment e added to the 1949 requisition for the 1949 levy on the
area of the said Health Unit. Carried.
Mr. W. D. Gentleman, Field Supervisor, was present,
and interviewed the Council on the matter of selling a quantity
of green feed on the farm of Mr. P. H Goertzen (Nz & SE- 13- 31 -26)
the said lands being under the control of the Agricultural Serv-
ice Boa�,he of this Municipal District. Mr. Gentleman was instructed
to sell said green -feed at market prices.
Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that recommendation be made to
the Supervisor of Mothers' Allowance that the monthly allowance
paid to Mrs. Emma Dobler be increased to $50.00, effective at
once, Carried.
Moved by Mr. Schmelke that recommendation be made to the
Game Bra ch, Department of Lands and Mines, Edmonton, that the
permits to trap muskrats issued to Richard Rempfer, Torrington,
and Konrad Buchert, Trochu, be extended to Feb. 28th, 1949.

Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that approval be given to the
application of Mr. Abraham Reimer, of Swalwell, Alta for an Old
Age Pens on. Carried,
The Secretary - Treasurer re orted to the Council as
follows: On or about Nov 10th, 194 Emil Berreth forwarded
blank cheque marked "Not to Exceed $320.00" in payment of taxes.
Cheque was returned to Berreth by the Secretary - Treasurer as net
amount of taxes was $357.10;on Nov. 25th, 1948 Cheque was returned
made out for $357.10 and same was applied on taxes (without
discount) leaving a balance of $14.38 unpaid. It was moved by
Mr. Ohlhauser that payment of $14.38�be made to Emil Berreth, and
applied in payment of the balance of taxes owing. Carried.

It was moved by Mr. Campbell that Mr.. Parry and Mr. M.
Schmaltz be appointed a Committee to engage a Lawyer to act for
the Municipal District in the case of Jack Ceefied's claim for
damages in truck accident on November 4th, 1948 at the Lawrence
bridge on the Lone Pine Creek. Carried.
The Council adjourned for Lunch at 12.45 p.m. and
resumed business at 1.45 p.m,

Three ladies representing The Trochu Hospital Aid Soc-
iety (Mrs. Jensen, Mrs. Meehan and Mrs. Walsh) interviewed the
Council, and made an appeal for a grant to the said Society.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that a grant of $50.00 be made to
this Society in 1948; and in view of the fact that the Trochu
Hospital is now supported by taxation, this grant to be the final
grant fr m the Municipal District, Carried,
Mr. C. W. Edwards, Mr. F. 0. Nelson, Mr. Louis Matus,
Mr. Erte Mullinger, Mr. F. P. Braconnier and Mr. DL J. Brodner
interviewed the Council on the matter of gravelling the road
seven miles south from NE corner of 32- 31 -23 -4. It was reported
to the Council that $17585 has been subscribed for the gravelling
(under t e '--way plan) of this route, also that $500 has been
subscrib d for the gravelling of the four miles south of the NE
corner o 31 -31 -23..4 It is evident that there is a difference
of opini n on the routes to be gravelled, and Mr. Parry and Mr.
Petterse agreed to meet with the parties interested, and endeavor
to come o a decision on the route.
Corp. Kirkeberg, of the R. C. M. P. (Trochu detachment)
was pres nt, and reported to the Council that he had made some
investig tions into the matter of Edward Buchert's non-support
of his w fe and family. The report shows that Edward Buchert is
now livi g in Vancouver, B. E.; that he has contributed $80.00
to the 01pport of his wife and family in 1948; that he had made
a promise to Vancouver R. C. Y. P. that he would contribute 2561o'
of his earnings to wife and family. It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz
that Secretary-Treasurer be instructed to write to Mrs. Edward
Buchert, and advise her to take steps to compel her husband to
contribute more to the support of herself and her family.

Mr. Campbell moved that recommendation be made to the
Superintendent of Mothers' Allowance, Edmonton, that the allowance
paid to Mrs. Rasmussen of Huxley, Alberta, be increased at once
to $50.00 per month. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that Mr. Wm. D. Gentleman
be engage as Field Supervisor of this Municipal District, from
December 1st, 1948, that he be paid an annual salary of $2,400,
also that he paid 10¢ per mile for use of his car when used in
the disc arge of his duties. Carried.
It was moved by liar. Ohlhauser that correspondence be
filed fo reference. Carried.
The Secretary - Treasurer submitted the Report of the
Ins�ector of the Department of Municipal Affairs, as made on
October 21st, 1948. It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that said
Report be acknowledged by letter to Deputy minister of Municipal
Affairs; also that Inspection Branch be advised that the
recommen ations in the said report have been duly noted. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the following
arrangements and appointments be made for the annual meeting
of rate - payers in February, 1949:
Date of Meeting: February 21st, 1949. (Monday).
Place of Meeting: Lyric Theatre, Three Hills, Alta.
Returning Officer: R. C Milligen, Sunnyslope, Alta.
Polling places and Deputy Returning Officers:

in the Holy Cross Hospital for $150 00 be paid. Carried,
It was moved by Mr. F. C. Petersen that the offer of
Knudsen, of Huxley, Alberta, to buy SE-1 of 10- 34- -22. -4

It was moved by Mr. S. C. Schmelke that second reading
of By -Law No. 104 be now passed and approved. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. J. A. Ohlhauser that Councillors be
paid Six Dollars per day for attending meeting, plus 10¢ per mile
for use cf car; also that Councillors be paid Five Dollars per
day for supervising road work, plus 10¢ per mile for use of car.
Carried.
It was moved by Mr. M. Schmaltz that first reading be
approved to By -Law No. 105 (A By -Law to provide for the payment
in 1948 f Grants to the following charitable and agricultural
societie : The �alvation Army: $800.00,1 Sisters of Our Lady of
Charity 100.00: Canadian National Institute for the Blind $150.00:
The Beuls h Home '$100.00:V'Drumheller Agricultural Society $75.00:

Moved by Mr. Schmelke that payment of $413.33 to

Mr. G. G. King, Asst. Secretary-Treasurer, submitted the
Pay-sheets for the month of November, and it was moved by Y'r. C. C.
Campbell that the pay- sheets which have been approved by the
Councill r concerned be now passed for payment. Carried.

'Mr. J. G. Umbrite was present, interviewed the Council,
and gave quoitation on Fire Insurance on the Municipal Machine
shop: 96¢ on the building, and $1,22 on the contents.
Mr. J. A. Ohlhauser gave a report on his investigations
into the accident to Mrs. I. U. McLennan of Swalwell, who was
injured by falling on loose plank in the side -walk in Swalwell.
It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the Municipal District pay
the doctor's bill (Dr. H. M. Elliott, Swalwell) in this case.

It was moved by Mr. Matt. Schmaltz that an order be
placed with Waterous Limited, Calgary, Alberta, for a npw "AD-4"
Allis-Chalmers Motor Grader, equipped with cab, scarifier, lights
(no snow plow) cost- $16,323.00 Carried.

placed w th Richardson Road Mchinery Company, Saskatoon, Sask.
for Richardson Rotary Shovel Plow, Model 872 M, equip ed with
a Genera Motors Diesel auxiliary engine 88 HP, Cost 6,400.00

It was moved by Mr. S. C. Schmelke that William Howell
be added to the Committee in charge of the building of the Three

placed with Armco Drainage and Metal Products of Canada Limited,
South Edmonton, Alberta, for a Snow -wing attachment for tjae
Austin-Western Motor Grader Carried.
Municipal District buy
It was moved by Mr. J. A. Ohlhauser thattLots 10 & 11,
Block 5, Village of Carbon (Plan No. 4387 P) from Mr. H. J. Gimbel
for Two Hundred 00 /100 Dollars ($200.00), the said lots being
required as an addition to the yard of the Municipal Machine Shop;
and that Council now pass first reading of By -Law No. 107 to
provide for said purchase. Carried.

Treasure be instructed to prepare a supplementary report of the
Municipal District's business in 1948, the said report to be
mailed w th the Financial Statement and to provide information
on the f flowing topics: Agricultural Service Board activities,
