It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the Financial State-
ment be approved. Carried.
The Secretary - Treasurer reported to the Council that
Mr. John Selta, who has been an indigent responsibility of this
Municipal District in The Linden Home, has been expelled for
unruly conduct. The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to take
steps to have him placed in The Salvation Army Home, Gleichen.

Umbrite as Field Supervisor be accepted with regret.

It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that Mr. S. J. Cannings
i, Alta. be appointed as representative of this Municipal
on the Board of the Drumheller Health Unit, Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Schmelke that approval be given to
the application of Mr. L. Walsh for a License to operate a
Butcher usiness in the Hamlet of Swalwell. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the Holy Cross Hospital
be informed that investigations are being made into the matter of
Miss Eva Schmaltzts account of $170040 Carried,
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that recommendation be made
to The S perintendent of Mothers' Allowance that the allowance
paid to Mrs. Emma Dobler be increased to $45,00 per month for the
wJnter m nths. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Campbell that S. H. Danforth, Trochu,
be given contract to install hot -air heating plant in the Three
Hills shop for $900.00 (not i4cluding extension hot -air pipe)
Carried.
The Council adjourned from 12,15 to 1.15 for lunch.
Mr. P. J. Rock, Drumheller, was present, and discussed
with the Council the matter of work on the Orkney School road,
and the 'Dinosaur Trail ".
Mr. C. W. Poole, Carbon, was present, and discussed
with the Council the matter of hiring municipal machinery to
construct a drainage ditch to drain a 30 acre slough on
NW-5-29-423-4. It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the Department
of Water Resources be asked to investigate this matter and to
furnish he Council with a report of their findings. Lrried.
The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to request
the Department of Water Resources to make similar investigations
into sloughs on WJ - 22- 28•.25•.4 (owned by Philip Hixt) ,
on NE-23-28-25.4 �owned by Gottlieb Berreth), and erosion
in watercourse on NE -10 -31 -22.4 (owned by D. Kaechele).
Mr. Philip Nault, Electrical Contractor, and H. J. Gimbel,
road foreman, were present, and discussed with the Council the
electric wiring job for the Three Hills shop. After considerable
discussion, it was moved by Y -r. Schmaltz that contract be given
to Mr. Philip Nault for this work, costs to be on basis of $1.00
per hour for labor, plus necessary equipment. Carried.
Mr. D. Kaeckele, Mr. R. Campbell, Mr. L. Morel and Mr.
Walter Dawn were present, and discussed with the Council the matter
of drainage in vicinity of NE- 10- 31 -22 -4 (Sarcee Butte school).
They asked that provision be made to divert the water from
S�- 14.31 22 -4 into three separate water courses. Council promised
matter w uld be investigated, and some appropriate action taken.
Council lso agreed to have a crossing built on creek near Mr.
R. Campb 11's Mr, L. Morel agreed to back - sloping on road on
West sid of SW- 15- 31 -22 -4
Mr. John Atkinson, Carbon, interviewed the Council
re heavy:lumber (Inla.nd Fir) which he can deliver for approximately
$85.00 p�r M Board feet.
1Mr. Richard Rempfer reported that muskrats are damaging
a grade across a slough south of Torrington, and asked Council
to recommend that he be given a License to trap them. It was
moved by Mr. Schmaltz that this recommendation be made to the
Game Branch, Dept. of Lands and Mines; also similar recommendation
for Mr. qonrad Buchert to trap muskrats on slough in NE- 7- 33. -24.

Mr. Fred W. Yanke for an Old Age Pension.
It was moved By. Mr. Campbell that this Yunicipal
District agrees to pay the costs, in excess of $650.00, of
replacing bridge in NE- 31- 33 -22 -4 with metal culvert, and
that Dept. of Public Works be advised accordingly. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Mr. Ohlhauser be
appointe to investigate the accident to Mrs. I. U. McLennan
and to r port at next Council Meeting. Carried,
1It was moved by Mr. Petersen that a grant of $100.00
in 1948 e paid to the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity, of
Edmonton. Alta, Carried,
It was moved by Mr. Parry that $552.40 be paid to
the Department of Public Works; this being the costs, in
excess of $650,00, for the culvert pipe supplied for the Linden
cheese factory job. Carried.
Mr. W. D. Postill, of Trochu, was present, and discussed
with Council the matter of the public using his lands as a road
It was m ved by Mr. Campbell that $60.00 be paid to Mr. We D.
Postill is full settlement of all claims for damages and compensa-
tion to ecember 31st, 1948. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Holy Cross Hospital be
advised that the Prairie Bible Institute is olligated to look
after tha hospital accounts of its residents, and that the account
of Mrs. aroline Petrie is not accepted by the Municipal District.
Carried.
Moved by Mr. Parry that approval be given to the appli-
cation of Mrs. Thelka Heuer, Linden Home, Swalwell, for an Old
Age Pens on. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Schmelke that Mr. Campbell be appointed
to investigate the offer of Mr. Carl Knudsen to purchase SE4- of
10-34-224.4 for $200.00, and to report on same at next meeting of
the Council. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that correspondence be filed.
Carried.
The Secretary - Treasurer reported to the Council that
an appli ation for reduction in assessmnt of the Sunnyslope
flour mill has been received from Mr. J J Schartner. It was
moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Mr. Schartner be ad %vised that his
appeal for re- assessment was received too late to come before
the 1948 Court of Revision, and that no reduction in assess-
ment can be granted for 1948 Carried.
Moved by Mr. Petersen that insurance on the Ti'dball
house in Swalwell be placed in the agencies of Mr. C J. Christie.
Carried.
Mr. Petersen reported to the Council that, due to the
lateness of the season, it will not be possible to make any
improve nts in the Equity elevator road in 1948.
It was decided to leave the matter of a Snow -Wing
attachme t for the M -99 Motor Grader until after the Municipal
Convention.
The Secretary - Treasurer reported that a cheque for
$87.06 g ven by Thos. P. Matus in payment of taxes was refused
by the B nk as "N.S.F." Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Secretary -
Treasure be instructed to enforce payment of this cheque Carried,

It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Mr. Peterseb be
,ed to have a stock -bile of gravel taken from the
River at the Morrin Ferry, providing same can be
id and piled for a maximum cost of 50¢ per yard,
costs of this work be charged in 1948 to General
and each project be charged for gravel used from
;k -pile at actual cost of securing same. Carried.
Mr. Olson reported that he and H. J. Gimbel had
investigated the matter of cancellation of part of the road
diversion in SE- 17- 29- 22•-41 and he recommends that the portion
of the road diversion now marked in red on Municipal plan
No. C-59 be cancelled. Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that report be
accepted and recommendation made to Director of Surveys for
cancellation of said road diversion.
Mr. Campbell reported that he had investigated conditions
in the ousehold of Mrs. Rasmussen, Hurley, and recommends that
additio al assistance be given her for the winter months.
It was oved by Mr. Schmaltz that 5 tons of coal be furnished
Mrs. Ra mussen. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Petersen that the Sunnyslope Board of
Trade and Canadian Utilities be informed that a maximum of
4 street lights will be authorized for Sunnyslope streets
Carried.
Mr, G. G. King, Assistant Secretary - Treasurer,
submitted the pay- sheets, and it was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser
that the pay - sheets which have been approved by the Councillor
ccncern d be now passed for payment,, Carried.
Business from pay- sheets:
Send Jacob Friesin an account for $75.00 for grav-
elling,
Moved by Mr. Schmelke that J. H. Guttridge's pay -sheet
be pass d for $14 00 road dragging, balance of pay -sheet not
passed for payment. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that Morgan and Johnson be paid
40¢ per yd. for hauling on dead hauls on Sunnyslope, Friesin
and Hai ing jobs. Carried. (Eslinger to be paid at same rates).
Moved by Mr. Petersen that payment be made to Emil
Weisenburger for rent of car: 40 days @ $5.00 per day, and $2.50
per day after that time. Carried.
Mr, J. G. Umbrite read the minutes of the last meeting
of the Agricultural Service Board, and promised assistance to
his successor
Mr. G. G King submitted the offer of Alex. Benusic
of Big Valley, Alta. to purchase NE- 13- 32 -22 -4 for $300`00•
$150.00 in fall of 1948, and $150.00 in fall of 1949; also
a repor on the revenue from said land for last four years.
It was oved by Mr. Petersen that Alex. Benusic be advised that
said la d will be sold to him, subject to approval of D. M. A.,
upon pa ent by him of $300.00 by Dec. 81 1948. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Petersen that the following amounts be
authorized as payment for gravel used in 1948:

ment before Dec. 13, 1948 be sent to all parties owing the Municipal
District for work done by the municipal machinery and crews.
