meeting on Tuesday October 12th, 1948, starting
Councillors present: J. W. Olson, J. A. Ohlhauser,
H. Parry, F. C. Petersen, So C. Schmelke and C. C. Campbell.
Councillor absent: M. Schmaltz,
Moved by Mr. Olson that the minutes of the previous
Council Meeting be approved, Carried.

for the month of September, 1948:

Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the Financial Statement
d, Carried.
Mr. Olson and Mr. Ohlhauser gave a report of their
investigations into the matter of an outlet for NE- 21- •2922 -4
(owned by Gordon McCracken) to the Carbon East road to Dry
Canyon. They reported that Mr. McCracken has agreed to buy
suffici t land from owner of NW- 21- 29 -22 -4 for a road across
the Nor h east corner of said quarter section, and recommend
that th Municipal District build about # mile of road along
north s de of NW- 21- 2924.•4 to complete the outlet. Moved
by Mr, ampbell that report be accepted, and building of said
road authorized, Carried.
Moved by Mr. Campbell that Secretary - Treasurer be
instructed to take the necessary steps to compel Edward Buchert
to provide for his wife and family, now residing in Trochu.
Carried
Mr. Petersen reported that he had been interviewed by
Mrs. Ma ercak on the matter of her account with the Municipal
Distric for aid and relief. Mr. Petersen moved that Mrs.
Magerc be informed that the Municipal District will accept
$300.00 from her ($150.00 in fall of 1948 and $150.00 in fall
of 19491 as full settlement of her account. Carried.
The Secretary - Treasurer reported that an advance of
$150.00 was made to Mr. Burdett Benedict, of Wimborne, on
Nov. 19, 1945 for treatment for child. Mr. Petersen moved
that steps be taken to collect this account. Carried.
Mr. Hickey, representing R. P. Kirk & Co., interviewed
the Co cil on the matter of a heating plant for the Municipal
Distric machine shop in Three Hills. (Quotation: Furnace
and fan outfit installed: $19315.00; Stoker: $750.00 extra).

It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that Mr. G. G. King,
;retary- Treasurer, be instructed to get quotations on
;ing plant from Urch Sheet Metal Works, Drumheller,
S. H. Danforth, Trochu; and that the building Comm-
tange for the work to to completed by one of the three

H. J. Gimbel, Foreman, was present, and discussed
with the Council matters relating to his work.
Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that a set of sleeves and
pistons for the Allis - Chalmers Motor Grader be ordered,
also a set of tracks for the RD-7 Tractor and a set of tracks
for the RD -8 Tractor. Carried.
Mr. R. E. MacKay, representing Armco Ingot Iron Co.,
interviewed the Council. Moved by Mr, Petersen that an order
be placed with Armco Ingot Iron Co, for the following culverts
(to be delivered in January, 1949):

Mr. Xavier de Beaudrap and Mr, Steve Mucka interviewed
the Council on the matter of the improvement of the roads in their
neighborhood.
The Secretary - Treasurer reported to the Council that
I. E. Pr ce is in default of payments in his agreement with the
Municipa District, Mr. Ohlhauser reported that I. E. Price
is vvrki g steady, and that he will see Price and endeavor to get
him to p y the Municipal District as required by his agreement.
Moved by Mr, Ohlhauser that the following payments
be made to employees of the period July 15 to Dec. 31, 1947
(in accordance with Holidays with Pay Orders No. 5 and 6:

Friesin with the Holy Cross Hospital for $14,00 be paid. Carried.
Moved by Mr, Schmalke that Mr* Petersen be delegated
in look Into the matter of a stock -pile of gravel from the Red
Deer River at the Morrin Ferry; also that Mr. Ohlhauser make
similar Investigations on the Kneehill Creek in the Carbon area.
Carried.
It was moved by Mr* Campbell: Resolved that for the
purpose of certifying employment by the Municipal District of
Kneehill No. 48 as permanent in accordance with Paragraph (1)
of Part 31 of the First Schedule to the Unemployment Insurance
Act and cf special orders made by the Unemployment Insurance
Commissi n thereunder the following bey and they are hereby
authoriz d to issue certificates to:
H. J. Gimbel (foreman), William Howell (foreman),
J. G. Um rite (field supervisor), G. G. King (asst. Secretary-
Treasurer), C. J. Christie (Asst, Secretary - Treasurer), and
A. J. Purvis (Secretary - Treasurer). Carried.
Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the seed grain account
charged o Emil Lang on NW -24-38 -22.4 for $332 :22 be cancelled;
also tha the Seed Grain Liens registered on the said land be
withdra . Carried.
Mr. Parry moved that approval be given to the appli-
cation o Mr, Isaac Klassen for a License to operate a General
Store in the Hamlet of Linden, Carried*

Moved by Mr. Olson that the Reeve and Secretary - Treasurer
-ized to sign a contract with the Canadian Utilities Ltd.
oupplying of stx street lights in the Hamlet of Sunnyslope.
Moved by Mrs Parry that the Secretary - Treasurer be in-
structed to write to the Department of Public Works and draw to
their at ention that they undertook to bear the entire cost of
replacin the bridge at the Linden Cheese Factory (NW- 20- 30 -25 -4)
with met 1 culvert pipe, and that we request the said Department
to withd aw its account for $552,40 (Being the total cost of
$1,202, less $650.00). Carriedo,
Moved by Mr. Schmelke that $150.00 be paid to the
owner of ISE- 4- J3 -26 -4 for 2.53 acres of land taken for Torrington
Nuisance Grounds. Carried.

Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that $50.00 compensation be
paid to Gilbert M. Jennings for sustained by him on NW- 9 -30 -23
by the grading crew tearing down his fence and damaging grain
crops. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Campbell that Secretary - Treasurer be
instructed to make application for a 72 inch metal culvert
60 feet long to replace a bridge at road diversion in NE
corner of N4- 31 -33- 22.4. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that Mr. Parry be delegated
to investigate the matter of the residence of Mrs. Thelka
Hever in this Municipal District (re: Application for Old
Age Pension). Carried.
Moved by Mr. Schmelke that following correction be
made to pay -sheet 6 -297: J. Lehman $13.50 instead of J. Lachman
$13.50. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that correspondence be filed
for references Carried.
Moved by Mr. Petersen that $150.00 be paid to the
Town of Trochu as payment for rading of the road along the
south side of Sec. 17- 33 -23 -4 Trochu outlet to H. W. #21).
Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that a payment of $150.00 on
arrears be accepted from Harry Griffiths, owner of SW -35 -34-24
and upon payment of this amount, the Municipal District agrees
to make no further demands until fall of 1949. Carried.
Mr. Morrison, representing Union Tractor and Equiprmt
Co. irate dewed the Council. Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that
al cat on be made to the Dominion Government for permit to
to purch se a D -8 tractor and #12 Motor Grader, Carried,
Mr. Forrester, representing Cruikshank Road Machinery
Coo, and Mr. Fleetham representing Costello Equipnent Co.,
interviewed the Council.
Mr. G. G. King$ Asst. Secretary - Treasurer, submitted
the pay- heets, and it was moved by Mr. Campbell that the pay -
sheets ;;ich have been approved by the Councillor concerned,
be now passed for payment. Carried.
Mr. Petersen moved that payment for gravel used in
1948 be made as follows:
Gideon Tinlin, Victoria, B. Co: 8¢ per yd.
Wm. Edwards, Drumheller, Alta.: $60.00 compensation
for damages to crop.
