It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the report submitted
J. Dormer on the delegation from this area to the Dept.
Works re Highway No. 21 be accepted. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Olson that Mr. C. J. Christie, Asst.
Secretary- Treasurer, be appointed to make semi - annual inspections
and reports on recipients of Mothers' Allowance, Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the Secretary- Treasurer
be inst eted to notify the two foremen of the road camps that
each for man and sub - foreman is to have a Chauffeur's license
issued bl► Province of Alberta. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the insurance be
renewed n the agencies of Mr. S. F. Torrance of insurance on
the Cate *pillar RD -8 tractor, the Holt D -8 tractor, the I. H. C.
TD -18 tractor, the Caterpillar RD -7 tractor, and the 1948 Chev-
rolet 1 on truck. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Olson that the Secretary - Treasurer
be inst cted to complete the questionairre submitted by the
A. A. M. D. regarding Liability Insurance. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Schmelke that two members of the
staff be given leave of absence to attend the Secretary's Conven-
tion in Edmonton on June 16 -19, 1948, and that $30.00 expenses
be authoilized for each delegate. Carried.
It was moved %M by Mr. Hugh Parry that the Council
approve he sale of gravel chute in the Spragg gravel -pit to
Pat Spra g for $10.00 Carried.
The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to acknowledge
the appl cation for employment submitted by Mr. Henry Ganske, of
,Torringt .
The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to make reserv-
ations f the members of the Council to attend the 1948 Municipal
C in Calgary in November, 1948. ($35.00 deposit paid).
It was moved by Mr. Campbell that the application of
Mr. Wm, A. Young to b13v Lots 13, 14, 152 16 and 17, Block 2,
Hamlet of Huxley, for t25.00 be accepted; and that first reading
of By -La No. 98 be passed. Carried.
I Mr. Schmelke moved that second reading of By -Law No. 98
be passedl. Carried.
JIt was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Mr. Campbell be
appointed to investigate the matter of garbage disposal in the
Hamlet of Huxley, and report at a later meeting of the Council.
Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that the staff seek the advice of
Mr. J. E. Brownlee on the matter of the application of the
Prairie B ble Institute for refund of 1945 taxes- and if Mr,
Brownlee idvises so, that the refund be paid ($89.50). Carried.

It was moved by Mr, Campbell that the application of
Bogner, of Vulcan, Alberta, for assistance in providing
too young sisters be accepted, and that he be paid $15.00
., effective immediately. Carried.
Mr. Fleetham, representing Costello Equipment Co.,
Calgary, interviewed the Council.
Mr. J. D. McLeod, and Mr. A. Helm, representing Waterous
Limited, Edmonton, interviewed the Council, and discussed the
matter of an account of $98.78 for service to the Allis- Chalmers
Motor Grader (Invoice No. 24983). Mr. McLeod informed the
Council �hat he would investigate this matter, and would report
on same.
'; Mr. Sylvest, of Ponoka, Concrete culvert manufacturer,
interviewed the Council.
Mr, R. E. McKay, representing Armco Drainage and Metal
Products, Edmonton, interviewed the Council. It was moved by
Mr. Ohlhauser that the following order of metal culverts from
Armco Drainage & Metal Products be confirmed:

Mr, J. L. Dundas interviewed the Council, and lodged
a complaint that his car had been damaged by reason of a large
rock being left on the road west of the Stuart School. Mr.
Dundas was informed that the patrol -man on that section of road
would be intervewed, and that the decision of the Council will
be withh ld until the patrol -man's report is recel.vede
Mr. Parry moved that the Secretary - Treasurer be
instructed to notify the patrol -men to exercise care in the
operatiai of the machines under their control; to see that
any rock thrown up by the machines are rolled off the road;
and that care is taken at railway crossings so that no gravel
or stone are left on the railway crossing. Carried.
Mr. C. J. Christie, Asst. Secretary - Treasurer,
reported to the Council that he had interviewed Mr. John
Peck regarding the matter of his lease of NW- 17-28 -21 -4 in
the year 1947. The report shows that there are 80 bushels of
wheat stored in a granary on the farm; this grain belongs to
the Municipal District under the terms of the 1947 lease and
Mr. Peck will market it soon; that there is still 50 acres
of the 1 47 crop to be threshedt but due to the lateness of
the seas n it may not be possible to thresh it; that Mr. Christie
had sec ed from Mr. Peck a lease of the said land for 1948 on
the usua one third basis. It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that
this rep rt be accepted. Carried.
Mr. Campbell reported that he had investigated the
Lammle property in Huxley (Lot 1, Block 4). His report was
that Lammle is willing to sell the propertyt and Mr. Campbell
is of the opinion that Mr. Hogg will buy it. It was moved by
Mr. Petersen that this report be accepted. Carried.
The Council gave consideration to the complaint of
W. A. Saunders regarding the need for a culvert at NW- 8- 32. -22 -4
and Mr. F. C. Petersen agreed to look after this matter when
time pernitted.

The Council met as a Court of Revision at 2,00 p.m.
on June 14 1948. Councillors present: Mr. J. W. Olson,
Mr. J. A. bhlhauser, Mr. Matt. Schmaltz, Mr, Hugh Parry,
Mr. F. C. Petersen, Mr. S. C Schmelke and Mr. C. C. Camp-
bell .
Mr. Parry presided, and A. J. Purvis acted as
Secretary, Mr. C. J. Christie, Assessor was present, and
reported on his investigations and appraisals of the various
parcels mentioned in the appeals to the Court of Revision.
The Court of Revision dealt with the following
appeals, and in the manner indicated:

siderati n by the Court of Revision on June 14th, 1946, be now
approved and accepted by the Court of Revision. Carried,

It was moved by Mr. J. W. Olson that the operators of
xber maintainers be paid wages of 850 per hour. Carried.
It was moved by Mr. Matt, Schmaltz that the following
charges made for custom work done in 1948 by the machinery
of the M icipal District:
1. RD -81s, RD -7, and TD -18 tractors: $12.00 per hour,
except on Community projects for which charge $6,00
per hour.
2. Caterpillar #12 Patrol, Allis - Chalmers Patrol
and Austin - Western Patrol: $5,00 per hour
3. Caterpillar #212 Patrol: $4.00 per hour
4. Huber maintainers: $3,00 per hour Curried,
It was moved by Mr. C. C, Campbell that the following
charges b made to the Divisions in 1948 for work done by the
machiner of the Municipal District:
Huber Maintainers: $2.00 per hour
3 large patrols: $3,00 per hour
#212 Patrol: $2,50 per hour. Carried*
The Council adjouned from 6.05 p.m. to 7.45 p.m, for
supper.
Mr. Matt. Schmaltz moved that more information be
secured on the Elmer Schmidt account at the Calgary General
Hospital. Carried.
Mr, F. C. Petersen moved that $10.00 per month relief
be paid to Mrs. Benusick, Sr., effective immediatelyq Carried.
Mr. H. Parry moved that inlaid linoleum be purchased
for the floor of the main room of the Office. Carried.
Mr. Schmelke moved that Mr, Parry be appointed to
arrange for the above. Curried.
Mr, Matt. Schmaltz moved that the sum of $103.20 be
paid to a Executors of the estate of the late Abraham Loewen
as payme in full for 3.44 acres of land taken for reed
diversi0 in South -west corner of SW-15-30-25-4, Carried,
Mr, Matt Schmaltz reported to the Council that he has
made arrangements with Chandler & Smith, Boiseker, for the
construction of a Bunk -car, of ply -wood construction and insul-
ated, size of main room 8t x 12 , tool room 81 x 6t, platform
8' x 21.; chassis and tires have been purchased. It was moved
by Mr. Oihhauser that this report be accepted. Carried.
