Moved by Mr. Parry that approval be given to the applica ion of Sam Toews for a License to operate a shoe repair shop at Linden. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the Contract between the Municip 1 District and the Drumheller Municipal Hospital Dist- rict be accepted, and the Reeve and Secretary - Treasurer author- ized to sign the same, when the amendments mentioned in Mr. V1il on's letter of Nov. 177 1947, viz. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that $40.00 Convention expenses be paid to each member of the Council and to the Secretary- Treasurer. Carried. Mrs. Speelman and Miss Fortier, representing the Trochu Bospital Aid Society, interviewed the Council, and made an appeal for assistance to their Society. Moved by Mr. Peter- sen that a grant of $$100.00 be made to the Trochu Hospital Aid Society. Carried. Mr. R E McKay, representing Armco Metal and Drain- age Products, interviewed the Council, and it was moved by Mr Ohl. user that an order be placed for the following cul- verts: Co. He assured the it not intended to transfer any lands other than farm ad that the Industrial Area #42 will continue to be ble for the maintenance of the hill roads leading the Red Deer River. Moved by Mr. Schmaltz that a consisting of Mr. Parry, J. W. Olson, C J. Christie . Umbrite be appointed to investigate this matter, rt on same to a later meeting of the Council. Carried. Two representatives of the Union Tractor and Equip - any interviewed the Council Yr. G. G. King, Asst. Sec. Treas. submitted the pay - sheets and the public works statements Moved by Mr. Schmelke that the pay- sheets be passed for payment. Carried. Moved by Mr. Petersen that the public works statement be approved. Carried, Moved by Mr. Petersen that the Secretary- Treasurer be instructed to notify Ernest Wilson that his services are no longer required by the Municipal District. Carried. Mr, J. G. Umbrite, Field Supervisor, gave a report an his w Iork in 1947; the said report dealing with the following matters. (a) spraying road allowances; (b) good co- operation given by farmers; (c) educational meetings to be held during the winter. Moved by Mr. Olson that the report be accepted with pleasure, Carried. Mr. Olson moved that steps be taken to get particulars of prices of lumber purchased in large quantities, and have a report cn same submitted to the next meeting of the Council. Carried Mr. Petersen reported that he would be absent for two or tree months, and it was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that Mr. Par be authorized to look after Division No. 5 during Mr. Peterse s absence. Carried. x /�-' f N J FORM 149-P- Special Council Meeting Mr. Schmaltz moved that of a roa south of Sections 32 & donated by the farmers concerned, bear the expense of surveying and held Dec. 8th, 1947, Page 4. the Council approve the opening 33- 28- -26 -4: the land to be the Municipal District to building of road. Carried. Moved by Mr, Campbell that rented storage for the "99 -M" Motor Grader can be secured from J. P. Ferschweiler for $30.00 per month during the winter months. Mr. Campbell moved that thiS space be rented. Carried. Mr. Campbell moved that W. D. Postill be paid $10.00 per year for the years 1946 and 1947 for right -of -way across 51 -11 -33 22.4. Carried. Mr. Schmaltz moved that Council proceed to pass a By -law to provide for the payment of grants to the fol3owing charities in 1947: Salvation Army- Sisters of Charity Swalwell Union Cemetery National Institute for the Blind Trochu Hospital Aid Society 1946 1947 Total 700.00 1001,00 100.00 1150.00 100.00 100.00 11250.00 Carried. Mr. Schmaltz moved that first reading of By -Law #88 be approved. Carried. Mr. Petersen moved that second reading of By -Law #88 be approved, Carried, be app Garret $ 925.00 and that from the the said Mr. Ohlhauser movedc that third reading of By -Law #88 d. Carried. Mr. Schmaltz moved that an order be placed with tors, Carbon, for a 1 ton Chevrolet truck. Carried. Mr. Campbell moved that Gallelli and Sons be paid for work done at the Tolman Ferry, east of Trochu, steps be taken to collect one half of the said amount Provincial Government as part of the work of installing ferry. Carried. Mr Petersen moved that the above payment of $925.00 be charg d to the General account of the M. D. Carried.
