Mr. Campbell moved that approval be given to the
application of Mrs. Isabelle Iflurray for an Old Age Pension,
on condition that it be found that she qualifies as a resident
of this Yunicipal District. Carried.
' Mr Ohlhauser moved that Mrs. Goodrich be informed
that, due to an amendment to The Municipal Districts Act in
1947, she is not eligible for refund of poll tax, as requested
in her letter of Aug. 27, 1947. Carried.
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that the Secretary- Treasurer be
instruct d to inform the Secretary - Treasurers of Drumheller,
Stettler and Red Deer School Divisions that poll taxes of $4.00
for each teacher in their employ must be deducted from salary
and remi ted to this office. Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that the Secretary - Treasurer be
instructed to circularize all farmers of the Municipal District
for a list of their employees who have resided iij the Municipal
District for at least 60 days and who are over 21 years of age,
and that the Secretary - Treasurer be instructed to levy poll taxes
on all sitch employees as per Section 320 of The M D Act.
Carried.
I Mr. Ohlhauser moved that A J Purvis be sent to the
1947 Contention of the A. A. M. D.'s as a visitor. Carried.
Mr. Schmelke moved that the 1947 fee of $120.00 in
the A. A. M. D.'s be paid. Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that the following equipment be
purchase from the Union Tractor & Equipment Co., Calgary•
1. Leanin wheel control for No. 12 Caterpillar
Motor Grader: cost 9 85.00
2. Snow Plow and Snow Vying attachment for No. 12
Caterpil ar Motor Grader: cost $2,140.00
and that the Council proceed to pass a By. -Lain to
provide for the said purchases. Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that first reading Yj6 of By --Law
No. 80 b passed. Carried.
Mr. Petersen moved that second reading of By -Law
No. 80 be passed. Carried.
Mr. Schmelke moved that third reading of By -Law
No. 80 b passed. Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that the application of Eineider
and Bose, of Huxley, for a License to operate a coffee -shop
in Huxley be approved, Carried.
Mr Olson moved that previous motion regarding the
sale of the "Norquay" safe be rescinded, and that the Secretary
be instructed to sell same for $25.00, or accept any reason-
able offer, Carried.
Mr Petersen moved that Mr. Campbell be appointed to
make arrangements for the transportation of Mrs. Tony Litvak
from Trochu Hospital to Central Alberta Sanatorium, Bowness.
Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that Mr. Schmelke be appointed
to investiggte the complaint of Mr. Ellergodt regarding
obstructions on side -walks in Torrington. Carried,

Mr Schmelke moved that the application of Mr.
oole for an Old Age Pension be approved. Carried.
Mr. Olson moved that the offer of Mr. H J Poole
to settle the hail taxes on 5E- 30- 33 -25 -4 for $ 50.75 be
accepte Carried.
The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to inform
Mr. Alb rt Heuther that we have no information of any school
specializing in the training of invalid persons.
NIr. Schmaltz moved that an order for 50 sets of
Motor G ader Blades be placed with Armco Drainage and Metal
Product of Canada Limited. Carried

Mr. R. E. MacKay, representing Armco Drainage and
Metal P oducts, interviewed the Council.
Mr. Bothwell, representing Union Tractor and Equip-
ment Co interviewed the Council.
Mr. Helm, representing 4aterous Limited, interviewed
the Council.
Mr. Olson moved that the following machinery be
purchas d from Waterous Limited, Calgary, Alberta:
One "AD" Allis- Chalmers Motor Grader* Cost $11,460.00
and ext a equipment as follows:

Total cost $ 14,302.00
and that the Council proceed to pass a by -law to
provide for the said purchase. Carried.
Mr. Olson moved that first reading of By -Law No. 82
be passed. Carried.
Mr. Schmelke moved that second reading of By -Law
No 82 le passed. Carried.
Mr. Petersen moved that third reading of By -Law No 82
be passed. Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that payment of $14.00 be made to
I,Mr. Bru e Ramsay as full settlement for claim for damages to
car on July 4th, 1947. Carried.
Mir. Campbell moved that the application of Mrs. Kate
Muir for an Old Age Pension.9 be approved. Carried.

Mr. Campbell moved that first reading of By -Law
No. 83 A By -Law to provide for the sale of Lot 31, Block 4,
Huxley, to David W. Murray for $15.00) be passed. Carried.
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that second reading of By -Law

Mr. Petersen moved that first reading of By -Law
No. 84 A By -Law to provide for the building of a machine
shop injThree Hills for $5,000) be passed. Carried.

Mr. Schmaltz moved that the building committee
be inst ucted to proceed with the construction of the Machine
Shop in Three Hills, the type of construction to be Cement
blocks, and Psi Helton and L. Edwards to be engaged as
builder . Carried.

r. Petersen moved that the Secretary be instructed
new Allis- Chalmers Motor Grader ,�for $10,000 00:
in the gencies of C J Christie, if fleet rate is available;
otherwi e in the agencies of S. F. Torrance. Carried.
Third reading was given to By -Law No. 76. It was
moved b Yr J. W. Olson thaat third reading of By -Law No 76
be pass d. Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that approximately 0.60 acres of
land be purchased from S.E. -10 -29 -25_4 (owned by E. J. C. Boake)
for ext a land for road diversion, and. that the land so purchased
be paid for at the rate of $50.00 per acre, that the land be
surveye , and fence be constructed by the Municipal District
on the ew location Carried.
1 Mr. Petersen moved that the relief allowance of Mrs.
Olive Hiller be increased to $15.00 per month. Carried,
Mr. Schmaltz moved that the order placed with the
Union Tractor and Harvester Co. for a medium -sized Motor- Grader
be cancelled. Carried.
Mr. Petersen moved that the Consolidation Agreement
for the payment of the arrears of taxes on NE- 16- 34 -24 -4
(owned ly S. B. Hepburn) be approved. Carried.
I Mr. G G. King, Asst. Secretary - Treasurer, submitted
the Pubic Works Statement for the consideration of the Council.

I Mr. J G. Umbrite, Field Supervisor, interviewed the
Council, and reported on the "Larson" case. It was moved by
Mr. T/0�yyq that the said report be accepted. Carried.

Mr. Parry, M. Schmaltz and A. J. Purvis gave a report
on the v4ork done by the Committee appointed to deal with the
matter cjf a Dam on the Three Hills Creek in. 5E- 27- 31 -2

The rep rt shows that the Committee interviewed Mir Harold
Millicar, Barrilter, on Aug. 15. that they interviewed Mr. J. W.
Judge, Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs on Aug. 19, and
Mr. BenRussell, Director of Water Resources on Aug. 20;
that tho Reeve and Secretary - Treasurer have signed, on behalf
of the Municipal District, an application to the Dominion Govt.
