held a regular meeting on July 14, 1947, starting at 10.00 a.m.

approved by the Council. Carried.

Board to surrender the uncollected hail tax arrears
nicipal District for the sum of $2,606.80 be accepted,
payment be authorized accordingly. Carried.
Mr Schmaltz moved that compensation for lands taken
diversions at the rate of $50.00 per acre be offered

4 Mr. Ohlhauser moved that Secretary - Treasurer be
authorizd'd to sign the permit authorizing the Canadian Utilities
to erectan electric power line on the west side of the Hamlet
of Swalwell to serve the farm on Geo Fyten (Ne- 4- 30- 24-4).
Carried.
Mr. Schmelke moved that the Reeve be empowered to
sign theagreement with the Provincial Government providing
for a gra t of $6,025.00 to be earned on "one -third - two - third"
basis on12 projects enumerated in the agreement. Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that the Reeve be empowered to
sign the agreement with the Provincial Government providing for
a Grant f $1,000.00 to be earned on the 1150 -50" basis on the
Tolman F rry road east of Trochu. Carried.
I Mr. Schmaltz moved that a letter be sent to the
Dept. of Oublic Works pointing out the dangerous condition
of many ridges in the Municipal District, and informing the
Departmelt that unless replacements and repairs are made soon
it can bed expected that there will be accidents and damages
to vehicles; also that copies of this letter be mailed to
the M. L. A s who represent this Municipal District in the
Provincial Legislature. Carried.

requesting the Municipal District to accept a partial requisi-
tion for 1947 for $ 21054.00 Mr. Schmaltz moved that the
Council ere agreeable to advance this amount as a loan (providing
authorit3 for same is received from Minister of Health), but
the Coun it object to accepting a requisition at this time,
due to the fact that the taxes for 1947 have been levied7 and
records 9f same made up. Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that Mr. Ohlhauser be appointed
a Committee to deal with the problem of providing relief for
Mrs. KatE Shyjka, Carbon. Carried.
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that F C. Petersen I J. W. Olson
and H J Gimbel be appointed a Committee to investigate the
problem cf securing a supply of gravel for road work in the
(area adj cent to Dunphy. Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that Mr. Parryq S C Schmelke
and H. J Gimbel be appointed a Committee to investiagte the
problem f supply of gravel for road work in the area adjacent
to Allin� ham. Carried.

The Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to inform
guson and Glenn Farrow that work on the building of
ay on 5E -29- 33-22 -4 has been delayed due to shortage
alp but that work will be commenced in near future as
are now available.
Mr. Campbell moved that the correspondence be filed

i It was moved by Mr. Schmelke that the Municipal District
purchase from Industrial Equipment & Supply Limited, one I.H.C.
"A" Tractor and No. 18 Highway Mower, equipped with lights,
starter,lradiator shutter, heat indicator, foot feed, sickle
grinder 4nd sickle holder, for $1,393.00, cash FOB Calgary
and thatlCouncil proceed to pass a By -Law to provide for
said purdhase. Carried
Mr. Schmelke moved that first reading of By -Law No. 78
be passed. Carried
Mr. Campbell moved that second reading of By -Law No. 78
be passed. Carried.
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that third reading of By -Law No. 78
be passed. Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that Mr. Schmaltz be appointed to
engage a man to operate the above tractor and mower. Carried.
Mr. Ohlhauser reported to the Council what has been
done in the case of Mrs. Jane Price, Carbon. His report shows
that the,Committee of Mr, Parry, J. A. Ohlhauser and A J Purvis
intervie ed J P. Ferguson, Barrister; that it was decided it
was beyond the powers of the Council to advance money to provide
for Mrs ;Price's transportation back to England; that she is
now being cared for by The Salvation Army's Grace Maternity
Home, Calgary, and her son is in the Booth Memorial Children's
Home, Ca�gary. Mr. Petersen moved that the report be accepted.
Carried.
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that in future the insurance on
the equi ment in the South camp be insured through the agencies
of S. F.;Torrance, Carbon, and that the equipment of the North
camp be nsured through the agencies of C. J. Christie, Three

Moved by Mr. Olson that the matter of making settle-
ment for road diversions (recorded on Page 1) be tabled until
a later meeting of the Council. �'arried.
Mrs. Enzie A J. Purvis reported that he had issued an emergent
order for $15.00 relief for Mrs. Jacob Enzie, Torrington.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that this order be approved, and that the
Council recommend to the Mothers' Allowance Branch that an
allowance of $25.00 per month be issued to her. Carried.

Mr. Gottlieb Maerz interviewed the Council on the
matter of the Three Hills West road, also gopher control.
Mr. Oscar Carlson and Mr. B. Williams interviewed
the Coocil re gravelling of road from SW- 3- 33 -25 -4 and
4 miles north. Mr. Schmelke moved that this project be made
No. 1 orb the 1948 list of grovernment grant projects. Carried.
Mr. V Gustafson, Mr. J. Lee and Mr. V. Kester
interviewed the Council re condition of road from SW corner
of 1 -32 24 -4 six miles north. to Olds Town Line.
Mr. Helm, representing Waterous Limited interviewed
the Council,
Secretary was instructed to comply immediately with
instructions to order a snow -plow and wing attachment for the
Caterpi lar Motor Grader No, 12.
Mr. J. G. Umbrite, Field Supervisor, discussed with
the council the matter of the judgement of bIr. Justice OtConnor
in whicl the Municipal District of Wetaskiwin was found at
fault ir proceedings under The Agricultural Service Act.
Moved by Mr. Schmelke that the Municipal District
assume half of the cost of spraying Toad Flax on Silversidets
road (adjacent to Sections 21 & 28- 32- 25 -4). Carried.
W J. Kocher., representing Cruikshank Road Machinery
interviewed the Council.
