Mr. Ohlhauser moved that the minutes of the last meeting b adopted with the following correction to Page 3 of the mi utes of the meeting of December 9th, 1946. "Mr. Olson moved that Mrs. Bruneski continue to receive alrelief allowance of $15.00 per month." Carried. Oxley be refunded $4.00 poll tax, collected and remitted by the Wheatland School Division No 40 Carried. It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that a grant of X10.00 be made tte e Alberta Assocation of Municipal Districts, the said grant to used by the A A. M D. in its campaign to urge upon the Provi cial Government the necessity for the Provincial Govern- ment to assume a greater share of the costs of elementary and secondary education. Carried. COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 13th, 1947, Page 2. It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the correspondence be filed. Carried. Mr. Hawreliak, representing the Canadian Utilities Limited, interviewed the Council, and exhibited plans and blue- prints of the proposed extension of the Company's transmission lines in ownships 28 and 29, Ranges 20 and 21, Vest of the 4th Meridian. He requested the Council to give its approval to the said prop sed extension of lines. It was moved by Mr. Olson that the Council of the Municipal District of Kneehill No. 48 consents and recommends that the Board of Public Utility Commissioners grant its approval to the supply of electrical power by the Canadian Utilities Ltd. within the area of Townships 28 and 29, Range 20 and 21, Nest of the 4th Meridian (which constitutes a part of the Municipal Dist@ rict of K eehill No. 48), as outlined in the Canadian Utilities Limited pan of the proposed "Rural Area No 511. Carried. A. E. Staite interviewed the Council, and requested a testimo ial as to his employment with the Municipal District. The Secretary- Treasurer was instructed to furnish this test- imonial. At 12.45 p.m. it was moved by Mr. Petersen that Council adjourn. Carried. The Council re- assembled at 2.15 p.m. All members in attendance. Mr. Inkster, representative of the Union Tractor and Equipment Company, Calgary, interviewed the Council. He informed the Council that the cost of a "4400" Diesel Motor for the Cater- pillar Elevating Grader would be approximately ,$2,700.00 It was moved by Mr Schmaltz that the following motion, which is recorded on Page 5 of the minutes of the meet- ing held 'n August l2th, 1946. "Mr. Schmaltz moved that the Council place an order with the Vnion Tractor and Equipment Company for a No. 12 Caterpillar Motor Grader with the Union Tractor and Equipment Company, ;o take delivery as soon as the Company can supply the same" . be rescinded, and that an order be placed with the Union Tractor and Equipment Company for "212" Motor Grader, (equipped frith Tandem Drive, lights, starter, l2ft. blade and one 2 ft. right -hand extension, hood doors, cab heater and V -type sc�rifier for the sum of 07,805.00 F 0. B. Calgary. Carried. Mrs. Hurry and Mrs Walsh of Troehu, representing the Trochu Ho'pitel Aid Society, interviewed the Council, and made an appealfor a grant for the said :society. It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the office staff ;ted to interview Mr. A. C. Smith, manager of the ophones at Three Hills, and endeavor to secure the .on of phone in the home of H. J. Gimbel, Carbon. Mr. Schmaltz moved that Mrs. Lydia Adamson be requested to attend the next meeting of the Council. Carried. Mr Campbell reported that he had investigated the possibility of buying a small house for Mrs. Adamson in Elnora, but house had been sold. Mr. Campbell and fir. King reported on their invest- igations into the matter of the recovery of two horses, which had been Oold at pound sale by G. V. Cranston, and redeemed by L. A. Andierson of Newcastle, Alberta. The report showed. 'p39.60 to 1. That L. A. Anderson paid the Municipal District cover the following* Pound expenses 18.70 Due Pound- keeper to vent brand 2.00 Due Jack Lynch, purchaser 10% of purchase price 1.20 Feed and Maintenance 17.70 39.60 2. That the said Jack Lynch paid the Municipal Dist - rict $30.00 in cash, and also surrendered to the Municipal Dist - rict the moneys due him from L. A. Anderson ($18.90) as listed above, plus the sum of X112.00 which was the amount paid by Jack Lynch for the horses at the pound sale. I 3. That the Committee agreed that the Municipal Dist- rict should pay Mrs. Lester Gibson $60.00, and Mrs. Chas. H. Morse $10.00, the said amounts being compensation for the surrenderiof the horses they had purchased from Jack Lynch. 4. That the Committee agreed that the Municipal Dist- rict shoo d pay G. V. Cranston, pound - keeper, $5.00 for his work in bringing the horses back to the pound, also $2.00 for venting the brands. Mr. Schmelke moved that the report of the Committee be accept�d, and that payments to Mrs. Lester Gibson 060.00) and to Mr 6. Chas. H. Morse 010.00), and to G. V. Cranston ($7.00) be authorized. Carried. First, second and third readings were given to By -Law No. 66 (L By -Law to provide for payment of grants in 1946 to charitable institutions). i Moved by Mr. Petersen that By-Law No. 66 be given first reading. Carried. I Moved by 11r. Campbell that By -Law No. 66 be given second reading. Carried. Moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that By -Law No. 66 be now given third reading and finally passed. Carried. COUNCIL MEETING HELD JANUARY 13th. 1947 Page 6. First and Second readings were given to By -Law No. 67 (A By -Law to provide for the compromise of payment of arrears of taxes on NW- 5- 30- 24 -4). Mr. Schmaltz moved that first reading be given to By -Law Noi. 67. Carried. Mr. Petersen moved that second reading be given to By -Law No. 67. Carried. First and Second readings were given to By -Law No. 68 (A Bye- Law'to provide for the payment of Arrears of Taxes in Instalmenks . ) Moved by Mr. Campbell that first reading of By -Law No. 68 be :approved. Carried. Moved by Mr. Schmelke that second reading of By -Law No. 68 be approved. Carried. Mr. John G. 11mbrite, :Meld Supervisor, interviewed the Council aid gave a report of his work in 1946. The report showed that the following work had been done in 1946. 1. 680 farms were visited. 2. Weed Control. 3. Bait - mixing station operated at Carbon. 4. Grain Plots. 5, Junior Graid Clubs, 6. Soil Erosion. 7. Articles in local papers written by Supervisor. 8. Meetings with Boards of Trade. 9. Fields days and demonstrations. Mr. Schmaltz moved that the report of the Field Supervisor be accepted. Carried. A representative of the Cruikshank Road Machinery Co. interviewed the Council. Mr. G. G. King, A st. Secretary - Treasurer, submiited the pay - sheets for the consideration of the Council. It was moved by Mr. Schmaltz that the pay - sheets which have been approved by the Councillor concerned, be paid. Carried. Mr. Petersen moved that Mr. King be instructed to .order a supply of "Machine Repair Reports ". Carried. Moved by Lfr. Schmaltz that Council do now adjourn.
