The Council of the Municipal District of Kneehill #48 held a regular meeting on Tuesday October 15th, 1946, starting at 10.00 a.m. Councillors present J. W. Olson, J. A Ohlhauser, Y. Schma tz, H. Parry, F. C. Petersen, S. C Srchmelke and C. C. C pbell. Mr. Schmaltz moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be adopted. Carried. The Secretary-Treasurer read the Financial Statement for the lonth of September, 1946. Mr Campbell moved that the Convent of Our Lady of Charity e given a grant of $'100.00, and that the Council proceed o pass a By _ Lt;w to provide for the same Carried. Mr. Campbell moved that the payment of �,n100 00 made by the Three Hills Hospital District in the account of 11 Irs Ranostajlbe accepted, and that the Holy Cross Hospital be paid their account of $200.00 Carried. Page 2.. moved that Mr Ohlhauser be appointed interview Mr. E Corbett of the Canadian matter of gravel taken from NE- 15- 27 -24 -4. Mr. Schmelke moved that the Council approve the application of Jacob F. Toews for a license to sell gasoline and oil, also tobacco in connection with his garage business at Linde, Alberta. Carried. Mr Olson reported that Mr. E T Lowen, who recently purchase SE- 27- 28 -21 -4 from the C. P. R wants to have a sub -way cattle pass built on the road diversion across the said land Mr. Schmlatz moved that Mr Olson and Mr. Ohlhauser be appointed to investigate this matter Carried. Mr Schmltz moved that F. J Schmaltz be informed that the gasoline storage tank which he obtained from the Somth camp is for sale for its original cost 0,47.09). Carried. *• "r Ohlhauser moved that Mr. Campbell be appointed to inspect the house in Huxley in which Mrs Rasmussen lives, and make a report on its condition and value at a future meet- ing of the Council. Carried. Five residents of Division 7, viz. Mr. Ness, Mr. Lemay, Mr Smythe, Mr. Kaiser and Mr. Cirankewitsch, interviewed the Council on the matter of the gravelling of the following roads' Range 23, Range 23, 1. Road between Sections 9 -4 and 10 -32 Tp. 33, Vest 4 11. ( 2 miles) 2. Road on the south side of Sections 2 -3, Tp. 33, West 4 M (2 miles) 3. Road between NVI -34 and NE- 33- 32 -23 -4 (2 mile). $750.00 has been subscribed by these men, and others, for the gravelling of these roads, and they requested the Council make application to the Provincial Government for a. grant under the policy by which the Government contributes one third, the ratepayers one third, and the Municipal District one third of the cost of approved projacts 114r. Campbell moved that applica- tion be made for a Government Grant accordingly Carried. Mr. John VJ'alter Ross, and Mr J. P. Ferguson inter- viewed the Council on the matter of an accident at the bridge between Sections °2 and 27, Tp 33, Rge. 24, on Sept. 12, 1946 They asked for payment of damages as follows' 1. To John V;alter Ross damages to machinery 334.68 2. To John Francis Ross. claim for personal injuries & disability 278.45 After considerable discussion, 4-r. Ross and 111r. Ferguson were informed that the Council wished to take the matter under consider�yltion, and that the decision of the Council is withheld until sole future date. Mr. Bampfield, Pair. Paul Elvin interviewed the Council, and requested a refund of $30.00 on the purchase price of the Chevrolat truck wh ch he bought from the Municipal District This refund was requ sted because of the numerous repairs he has had to make to he truck since purchasing it. Mr. Ohlhauser moved that ref nd of $30.00 be paid to Paul Elvin Carried. Mr. W Pastorchik interviewed the Council on the matter o custom work done for him by the employees and equipmen of the Municipal ?district. Mr. F C. Petersen moved th t the account of Pastorchik and Nottal for custom work be et at 4287.00, that the account of 'd W Davidson for Gust m work be set at .$227.00. I j Mr. Campbell moved that the pay - sheets for the month of September, 1946, which have been approved by the Councillor concerned, be now passed for payment Carried. Recommendation of Public i'orks to be undertaken in Division 1, 2 and 6 (Form A) were read, and it was moved by Mr. 01so� that same be accepted and approved by the Council Carried.! Pair. Campbell moved that the approval of the Council be given to the application of James Szarka, C. P. R Section - man at Allingham, to have his wife and family brought to Canada from Hun4ary. Carried. The Secretary - Treasurer reported that he had accepted $3471,35 as settlement of the arrears of taxes owing on NVt- 5- 30-24w4, which is :leased by Mr. C. VI Allsopp from the Department of Lands and Mine . Mr. Campbell moved that this settlement be approved, and authcpization given for the cancellation of the balance of $548.55. Carried. 1K Mr. G. Be usic for ��300.00). Pf.r Ohlhauser moved that the third reading of this by -law be passed Carried. Mr. Petersen moved that C C Campbell and John E. Frere be appointed to the provisional board of the Trochu Munic- ipal Hospital District. Carried Mr. Schmelke moved that William Stroyan be appointed to the p ovisional board of the trochu Municipal Hospital District Carried Mr. Olson moved that Andrew Armstrong, Drumheller, be paid $50.00 as compensation in full for the hauling of gravel in 1946 icross his land (Slid- 22- 29- 21 -4). Carried. Mr. Vim. R Suelzle, Carbon, interviewed the Council, and requ sted that he be granted a Tax Consolidation agreement for the ayment of the arrears of taxes on SIB- 3- 28 -23 -4. It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that Tax Consolidation agreement be granted 1 Carried. Mr C. J. Christie, Assistant Secretary- Treasurer, read the accounts, and it was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that the followin accounts be passed, and ordered paid.
