The Council of the Municipal District of Kneehill No. 48 held a regular meeting on Monday September 9th, 1946 at 10.00 a.m. Councillors present' J. W. Olson, J A Ohlhauser, M. Schmalltz, H. Parry, F. C. Petersen, S. C. Schmelke and C C Campbell.; Mr. Ohlhauser moved that the minutes of the last Council meeting be adopted. Carried. The Secretary- Treasurer read the Financial Statement for month of August, 1946: adopted. Campbell moved that the Financial Statement be Carried. j Mr. Schmelke moved that the Reeve and Secretary - Treasurer! be authorized to borrow from the Royal Bank of Canada, Three Hills, such amounts, to a maximum of $20,000.00, as are nejcessary to meet the expenses of the Municipal Dist- rict until such time as taxes are collected. Page 2. Mr. Campbell moved that $5.00 per month for personal comforts be paid to Mrs. Adlia Fleming. Carried. Mr. Petersen moved that the letter and account of the Holy Cross Hospital (Mrs Frank Ranostaj : $544.15) be turned over the Board of Three Hills Hospital District for consideration. Carried. Mr. Schmelke moved that the approval of the Council be given to the application of L Walsh for a License to operate a restauiant, confectionery and tobacco business in Hamlet of Torringtmn. Carried. Mr. Olson moved that the insurance policy on the office and contents issued by the Alberta Government Insurance Office be accepted, and payment of the premium of $27.00 authorized Carried Mr. Schmaltz moved that the seven councillors and secretary- treasurer attend the 1946 Convention of the A. A. M. D. In Calgary on Nov. 18, 19 & 20th, 1946, and that each be paid $35.00 expenses. Carried. G. G. Mr. Petersen moved that the pay - sheets for the month 1946, which have been approved by the Councillor be now passed for payment. Carried. Spragg Mr. Ohlhauser moved that Pat Spragg, E. B. Cullum, Cullum F. Toews and Edward Bitz be paid at the rate of 59C per yard for Bitz gravel used for road building. Carried. Mr. Schmelke moved that Peter Friesin be paid 6� per yard for gravel used for road building. Carried. Hunter Bishop V Salvation Army Mr. Olson gave a report on his investigations into the complaint made by R. W. Hunter that he had no access to his land f( Part S2 -5-30-21-4) Mr. Petersen reported on his investigations into the claim of T. F. Bishop for damages to truck. Mr. Campbell moved that the Municipal District disclaim any responsibility for damages, and that Mr. Bishop be informed accordingly Carried Major Buckley, representing The Salvation Army, interviewed the Council. Mr. Schmelke moved that a grant of $600.00 be made to The Salvation Army in 1946. Carried. Elvin truck By -law 63 Seefried By -law 64 McKay Umbrite Bridges J COUNCIL MEETING HELD SEPT. 9th, 1946. Mr. Schmaltz moved that the sale of the old Chevrolet 2 ton truck to Paul Elvin for $350.00 be approved, and that the Council proceed to pass a By -Law to provide for the said trans- action. iCarried. moved Mr Schmaltz that first reading be given to By -Law No. 63 (A B -Law to provide for the sale of Chevrolet Truck to Paul Elvin. Carried. Mr. Schmelke moved that second reading be given to By -Law No. 63. Carried. Mr. Ohlhauser moved that third reading be given to By -Law No. 63. Carried. The Secretary - Treasurer reported the sale of Lot 18, Block "P", Wimborne, to W E Seefried for $75.00, cash. Mr. Schmelke moved that this transaction be approved by the Council, and that Council proceed to pass a By -Law to provide for same. Carried. First, second and third readings were given to By -Law No 64 (A By -Law to provide for the sale of Lot 18, Block 11P11 in Hamlet of Wimborne to W E Seefried). Mr. Schmelke moved that first reading of By -Law No. 64 be passed. Carried. Mr. Campbell moved that second reading of By -Law No. 64 be passe. Carried. Mr Ohlhauser moved that third reading of By -Law No 64 be passed. Carried. Mr. Parry reported on a request made by Mrs. Edward McKay for, the construction of a cattle pass between sections 11 and 14- 31 -25 -4 No action was taken in this matter J G Umbrite, Field Supervisor, reported on his work and activities of the Agricultural Service Board. Mr. Schmaltz moved that the Field Supervisor be instructed to send a circular letter to all ratepayers on the matter of weed control on roads. Carried.
