Mr. Campbell moved that the minutes of the previous

Mr Schmaltz moved that the Financial Statement for
1946, be adopted. Carried.
Mr N. Boese, Mr. F. J. Tricker and Mr. 141 Powers,
s from the Hamlet of Swalwell, interviewed the Council,
sted that the road from Swalwell West to its junction
Acme - Carstairs road be improved by grading and gravell-
Schmaltz moved that the entire Council inspect the

Mr. Parry reported on the work of the Committee
appoints to consider the Torrington well. Mr. Schmelke moved
that ten ers be advertised for the drilling of a new well in

casing. Carried.

Mr Ohlhauser moved that the Reeve and Secretary-

Ireasurer be authorized to pay the first quarterly instalment
of the r quisitions submitted by the various School Districts
and Scho l Divisions and Hospital Districts. Carried.
Mr. Olson reported that Mrs. Fleming, an indigent
responsi ility of this Municipal District, has been lodged in
The Lind En Home, Swalwell, since Feb 12, 1946.

Mr. Schmelke moved that the Transfer of Lot "P'l,
Hamlet, be registered at the Land Titles Office Carried.
Mr. Petersen moved that a further review of Tp. 31,
Westv4 M. be requested of the P F. A. A. office,
y Sections 16, 21, 22, 23 and 24 in the said township.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that recommendation be made to
the Supt of Mothers' Allowance that $40.00 per month be paid
to Mrs. ivonne Lavoie, of Bircham, Alta. Carried.
Mr. Schmalke moved that one yearts extension be
given to the Consolidation Contract of Mrs. Edith Morse on
N2 -32 -34 21 -4 and N2- 33- 34 -21 -4. Carried.
Mr Ohlhauser moved that R. G. Sayler be informed that
the Muni ipal District Council made application to have P.F.A.A.
awards paid on the 1945 crop in all of Tp. 29, Rge. 22, W. 4 M
and that the P F.A.k. office made awards in only a part of the
said township. Carried.
Mr Ohlhauser moved that the premium of $40.00 on
the Fide ity Bond of A J. Purvis with thh Canadian Indemnity
Co. be p id. Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that recommendation be made to
the Administrator of Estates to pay the Arnold Patterson
account of $792.13 direct to the Provincial Mental Hospital
out of the funds in the estate of the said Arnold Patterson
Carried.
Mr Petersen moved that a grant of $p100.00 be made
to The 4ulqh Home, Edmonton. Carried.
Mr Parry moved that a message be sent by telephone
to the B and of Olds School Division No 31, thanking them
for the nvitation to attend their budget meeting today. Carried.
Secretary was instructed to request Shaw's, Midnapore,
to submi their prices for the crushing and loading of gravel.

The Secretary read the Brief which was prepared on
;r of re- organization of the Boundaries of Municipal
�, School Divisions and Hospital Districts. Mr. Schmaltz
Lt clause "4" of the said brief be changed to read.
"Recommendation is made that the Provincial Government
be requested to assume 50% of the cost of education, the balanee
to be raised by direct taxation on land through the same methods
now employed". Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that the brief, as amended, be
accepted I and that copies of same be forwarded to the Joint
Committee of the Departments of Municipal Affairs and Education,
also to the Alberta Assocation of Municipal Districts. Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that steps be taken to get a
complete report on the accident in which Alfred Wulff was
injured, and that said report be sent to The Workmen's Comp-
ensation Board. Carried.
Mr. Petersen moved that Mr. Schmaltz and Mr. Umbrite
be appointed to attend the Convention of Agricultural Service
Boards tD be held in Edmonton on March 26, 27 and 28, 1946.
Carried.
Mr Petersen moved that recommendation be made to
the Department of Public Works that a Ban be placed on trucks
carrying loads of more than one -half rated capacity, the said
ban to be made effective as soon as possible on all roads of
this Municipal District. Carried.
Secretary was instructed to invite all of the 1945
employee of the Municipal District to attend the Council
meeting n April 5th, 1946 at 2.00 p m.
Mr. Schmalke moved that approval to given to the
applicat on of P. Daubert, Torrington, to operate a Butcher
business in the Hamlet of Torrington, .Alta. Carried.
Mr Schmelke moved that Wm. Howell, foreman, be instructed
to have tracks on the R. D. 8 tractor repaired. Carried.
Mr Ohlhauser requested that the R.D.7 tractor and
bull-dozer be rented to the Committee of the Baptist Church,
the said machine to be used for excavating basement
Mr. Schmaltz moved that $4.00 per hour be charged for rental
of said equipment. Carried.

Mr. Christie presented the accounts,-b-9 payment. It
by Mr. Campbell that Dr. Hartman be offered $150 00
ettlement for his account for services to Mrs. Stelter.

listed at the Carbon shop, and it was moved by Mr. Schmaltz
that said report be accepted and filed for future reference.
Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that Mr. G. G King be instructed
to condu t an investigation re yields in Tp. 34, Rge. 23,
W. 4 M. ior P F. A A purposes. Carried.
Mr Schmelke moved that application be made to the
Provinci 1 Government for a grant of $18,000 00 to be earned
on the u ual 50 -50 basis for road building in 1946. Carried.
Moved by Mr. Schmelke that Council adjourn Carried
