The Council of the Municipal District of Kneehill No. 48
held a r gular meeting on Monday, January 14th, 1946.
Councillors present* John W. Olson, John A Ohlhauser,
Matthew ISchmaltz, Hugh Parry, F. C. Petersen, Stanley Schmelke
and C C Campbell.
Mr Schmaltz moved that the minutes of the previous
meeting te approved. Carried.

Mr. Olson moved that approval be given to the application

Mr. Campbell moved that the account of Gottlieb Adam
(deceased) for x;86.75 with the Holy Cross Hospital be paid. Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that the Secretary - Treasurer be

Mr. Schmaltz moved that the letter from the Prairie

IMr. Olson moved that a reserve bid of $3,500.00 be set

Mr. Schmelke moved that a reserve bid of :500.00 be
set on SA-22-30-22-4. Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that a reserve bid of ;4,500.00 be

Mr. Ohlhauser moved that Mr. J. J. Miller be appointed
to conduct as Assessment of the Hamlet of Swalwell. Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that Mr. Christie be instructed to
bring the Inventory of Tools up -to -date, and to present same for
considers ion at a later meeting of the Council Carried.
Secretary- Treasurer was instructed to acknowledge
the lette from Dr. Robinson, and advise him that Mrs. Adamson
is to be ept as a patient at the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital.
Secretary- Treasurer was instructed to acknowledge
the letter from The Salvation Army respecting Mr. Dan Gordon, and
to accept the notice of increase to $50.00 per month for the
maintenance of Mr. Gordon in The Eventide Home.

Mr. Ohlhauser submitted a report on the circumstances of
Muir, an indigent responsibility of this Municipal
Mr. Ohlhauser's report is that airs Muir resides at
Ave. Wiest, Calgary; that she has a small room in a
Ouse for which she pays w8.00 per month rent, that she

present allowance of 430.00 per month be continued.
The Secretary- Treasurer was instructed to inform the
Drumhell r Municipal Hospital Board that the number of old people
who might be expected to be lodged in the proposed home be given
as "Ten"
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that the approval of the Council
be given to the issuing of Cheque No. 1601 for ""130.00, payable
to Edgar J. Thomas, of Drumheller, and being payment in full
for all claims for damages arising out of an accident on May 8,
1945, in which Mr. Thomas' child was injured by a machine of
this Municipal District. Carried.
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that the approval of the Council
be given to the application of Mrs. Delvin Tetz to operate
a Restaurant business and Gasoline Service Station at NE- 10- 28 -23 -4.
Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that the Council ratify the sale of
the "30" Caterpillar tractor, and attached snow -plow to Atkinson
Bros. fo $1,850.00 Carried.
Mr. James Hanger interviewed the Council on the matter
of the grading of a road to his farm, being Section 10- 32 -24 -4.
Mr. Fleetham, representing Costello Equipment Co.
interviewed the Council.
Mr. George Keiver, Mr Thos. Ellis, Mr. Gus Schmidt and
Mr. ClarGInce Tunney interviewed the Council, and expressed their
oppositi n to the petition of The Prairie Bible Institute for
exemptio from taxes on the real and personal property of the said
Institut .

Mr. Schmaltz moved that Mr. Edgar Wise be requested to

Mr. Olson moved that Mrs. Bertha Peck be requested to
sign a lase for SI- 5- 29 -21 -4 for the year 1946 for one -third of
the crop Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that steps be taken to dispose
of the 1636 Chevrolet 2 ton truck, and to purchase a new 1 ton
truck, and that Mr Ohlhauser be authorized to carry on negotiations
with trunk dealers at Carbon, Alta. for this purpose. Carried.

Mr. Ohlhauser moved that a cheque for X8.35 be issued
to Peter riesen, of Torrington, Alta in order to bring payment
for gravel to 6� per yard. Carried.
Mr. Olhlahuser moved that an account for 11 hours work
at $4.00 per hour be submitted to the Provincial Government to
cover the cost of removing snow from the road from Grainger corner
to Carbon, and from Carbon south to Drumheller highway Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that Sidney Bramley and Norman
Ohlhauser be paid at the rate of 70� per hour, for work on the
snow-plow. Carried.
Mr. Olson moved that the rates of pay for tractors
used for snow - plowing be $1.50, X1.75 and $2.00 per hour,
depending upon the size of the tractor, and $2.25 per hour for
Caterpillar tractors. Carried.
