The Council of the Municipal District of Kneehill No. 48
sgular meeting on December 10th, 1945 at 10.00 a.m.
Councillors present. Mr. Olson, Mr. Ohlhauser, Mr.
Schmaltz, Mr. Parry (Reeve), Mr Petersen, Mr. Schmelke and Mr.
Campbell.
Mr. Olson drew attention to the fact that there were
certain omissions to the minutes of the meeting of Nov. 12, 1945•
1. That the account for the gravel used on the "Rosebud
North" project be paid at the rate of 8� per yard.
2. That the application for an Old Age Pension submitted
by Mr. Wn. H. Maupin be approved.
Mr. Olson moved that the minutes of the meeting held on
November 12th, 1945 be adopted with the above additions. Carried.
Mr Ohlhauser moved that E. M. Fetroe be paid 5f per yd.
for "taking out gravel ", and that cheque for 455 yds. of gravel
be issued accordingly. Carried.
Mr. Petersen moved that the Secretary take steps to get
a permit to move the sheet -metal tool -house now at Carbon
from its present location to the office site in the Town of
Three Hills. Carried.
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that each division be charged for
any sign taken from the present supply at the office, or ordered
in the f ture. Carried.

Sr Schmaltz moved that the semi - annual report of
Mrs. Lavo e's finances, etc. required by the Mothers' Allowance
Dept. be nvestigated by the R. C. M. P. Carried.
r. Petersen moved that Alex Reub's account for $ 35.15
due to th Holy Cross Hospital be paid. Carried.
r. Schmaltz moved that Dr. J. D. Milne be advised, that
in the op pion of the Council, Ernest Wilson is able to pay his
daughter' account of N125.00 Carried.

Mr. Schmaltz moved that a grant of $15.00 be given
Kat Muir for clothing, and that Mr. Ohlhauser investigate
case and report at next meeting of the Council. Carried.
Mr. Schmalke moved that a tire be purchased for the
"M -99" M tor- Grader. Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that Mr. Olson and Mr Ohlhauser
represen this Municipal District at the meeting re Old People's
Home to a held on Dec. 14, 1945, Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that a License be granted to the
Linden H me, Swalwell. Carried.
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that the letter advising that the
compromise settlement of the Seed Grain indebtedness of this
Municipal District to the Provincial Government has been approved
be laced on file for reference, and the compromise settlement
of �8vOOO,OO be ratified by the Council. Carried,
Mr. Campbell moved that the Secretary - Treasurer be
instructed to proceed with the collection of the out - standing
seed grain accounts, and that the following discounts be auth-
orized to bgiven on the gross amounts owing,

To other Ratepayers a discount of 25% Carried.
Mr. Olson moved that approval of the Council be given
to the a plication for an Old Age Pension submitted by Ralph
T. R. Th mas. Carried.
Mr. Havens and Mr. Waldock, representing the Prairie
Bible Institute, addressed the Council on the matter of tax
exemptiot for the property of the Institute, and made an
appeal that the Council approve the brief which the Institute
intends to present to the Provincial Legislature for tax exemption.
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that the matter be tabled until the
next mee ing of the Council. Carried.
!Albert Staite, operator of the 1TM -9911 motor - grader,
intervielfed the Council on certain changes to be made to the
snow-plow attachment. Mr Schmaltz moved that the machine be
sent to Carbon, so that the required work can be done in the
Municipal District's shop. Carried.
Mrs Hurry and Mrs. McGowan, representing the Trochu
Hospital Aid Society, interviewed the Council, and made an
appeal om behalf of the organization. Mr. Ohlhauser moved that
a grant of $100.00 be given to the Trochu Hospital Aid Society.
Carried.
The Council gave consideration to the case of Mrs.
Lydia Ad son, now a patient in the Banff Mineral Springs
Hospital Mr. Campbell moved that we get in touch with Dr.
Dean Rob nson, regarding Mrs. Ademson's condition, and also
that ste s be taken to have Mrs. Adamson admitted to The
Sunset L dge Home for Women, Calgary Carried.
Mr. Schma ;tz moved that an electric drill be purchased
for use In the Carbon shop. Carried.
�Mr Schmaltz moved that Mr. J. J. Miller be paid
.x$500.00 n account of assessment work. Carried.

lIt was reported to the Council that E. R. Peterson
of Hesk4h, Alta. wishes to buy Lots 5 & 6, Block 1, in
Hesketh,jand that he has sent a cheque for W15.00 in payment
for these lots. Proved by Mr. Schmelke that Mr. Peterson be
informedithat the said lots are not for sale, having been
reservedjso that the well on the said lots can be used by the
Community, and that his cheque for 415.00 be returned to him.

lIt was moved by Mr. Schmelke that approval of the
Council be given to the application of Mr. C. S. Blenhorn
to operate of Butcher business in the Hamlet of Wimborne at
Lot 5, Block 1. Carried.
Secretary - Treasurer reported on the advisability of
the Municipal District acquiring acreage from NE- 27- 33 -26 -4
for a nuisance ground for the Hamlet of Wimborne Mr. Olson
moved th4t Mr Schmelke be given authority to investigate this
matter, jnd to decide how much land should be acquired for
this purjose. Carried.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that the account of Mrs. Mary
Maerz four $71.35 with the Calgary Hospital Board be paid,
and that steps be taken to collect same from her husband
Mr. AdamlMaerz, Three Hills. Carried.

.The Council discussed the letter from The Salvation
Army Home regarding Dan Gordon, and Mr. Campbell was requested
to get information regarding Mr. Gordon's age. The Secretary -
Treasure� was instructed to notify the Salvation Army Home to
take app opriate action to deal with Mr Gordon's mental con-
dition.
.A statement from Mike Golat, Ghost Pine Creek, was
read, in;whieh he asks for financial assistance from the Mun-
icipal District to finance an operation, and promises to re -pay
same as 0oon as possible. Mr. Petersen moved that this state-
ment be iaccepted, and that the Municipal District assume res-
ponsibil'ty for financing Mr. Golat's operation. Carried.

!Mr. Petersen and Mr. Schmelke reported on their
investigjtion into the matter of enlarging the L'limborne
town -sits Mr. Petersen moved the Dept of Public - Viorks be
informed',that the Municipal District is willing to take over
Block "P�, have it re- surveyed into lots, and sell the said
lots for` sites of dwelling houses Carried.
Mr Schmaltz moved that steps be taken to have
Block "R11 in the said Hamlet cancelled as e. park area, and
that the Municipal District undettake to have it re- surveyed
into lots for business purposes. Carried.

(A By -La to provide for the sale of Lot 22, Block 5, Hamlet
of Huxle to Joseph Kepp.) Mr. Campbell moved that first reading
of By -La No. 42 be approved. Carried.
'Mr. Schmaltz moved that second reading of By -Law No. 42
be appro4d. Carried.
'The Secretary - Treasurer read a letter from Stark
Keinick, in which he offers to buy Lot 11, Block 1, Hamlet
of Heske h for $250.00. It was moved by Mr. Ohlhauser that
this offer be accepted, on condition that payment of the full
purchase price is made on or before Dec 202 1945, Carried,
Mr. Olson reported on the steps taken to arrange a
settleme t of the claim for damages made by Mr. Ted Thomas of
Drumhell r, Alberta.
Mr. Schmaltz moved that C J Christie be appointed
as Appraiser of the lands being offered for sale at the Tax
Sale on Jan. 14, 1946, and that A. J. Purvis be auctioneer
of the SiLid sale Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that J. G. Umbrite, Gleichen, Alta.
be engag d as Field -man of this Municipal District, to start
his duti s on Jan. 2, 1946; and that he be paid $1,700 per
annum, and an allowance of 109� per mile for use of car. Carried.
Mr. Ohlhauser reported that an offer had been received
from Mr. Hugh J. Cruikshank, Cal ary to purchase the "77"
Austin-Western Motor Grader for 5,000.00 It was moved by
Mr. Olson that this offer be accepted, and that Mr. Ohlhauser
be autho ized to negotiate the sale of the machine accordingly.
Carried.
Mr. Ohlhauser moved that the steps be taken to have
the entire area of the Municipal District of Kneehill No. 48
declared a "T B. Free Area ", and that the Council proceed to
pass a By-Law to provide for this matter Carried.
