The Council of the iiAunicipal 'district of hneehill #48 held
a regular meeting on July 9th, 1945, starting at 10.00 a.m
The following Councillors were present. John ' :. Olson,
John A. Ohiheuser, P,atthew Schmaltz, Hugh Parry (Reeve),
Frank C Petersen, Stanley Schmelke and C C Campbell
sir. Ohiizauser moved that the minutes of the previous
meeting on June 12th, 1945, and the minutes of the Court of
Prevision held on June 12th, 1945, be adopted Carried
Motor
Mr Parry moved that instructions be sent to the operators
graders
of the motor Graders to notify the Councillor concerned i.vehen
they start work in his division. Carried.
!,ir Schmaltz moved that the Financial Statement for the
month of June, 1945, be adopted Carried

appointed as a Committee to investigate the conditions in the
household of Carl Schmaltz, Beiseker. Carried.
Petersen
Mr. Petersen gave a brief outline of the program of
Div 5
public works he proposes to carry out in Division No 5 in 1945
Each Councillor was given copies of Form 1°A'" to be completed by
next meeting of the Council.
Mir Parry reported on the progress being made in the build-
ing of the vault at the office
Pump
'sir. Sclunaltz reported that he had endeavored to purchase
a pump for use in watering the lavins at the office, but had little
success as pumps are scarce at the present time, and are purchased
under permit He advised that the purchase of a pump be left to
some future date, when regulations have been eased
dump-
There was discussion on the matter of disposing of four or
wagons
five dump - wagons, previously owneC :, by the Municipal District of
Carbon No 278 !, =r Schmaltz moved that these wagons be sold
at Public Auction in the Village of Carbon at 2.30 p.m. on
.nugust 4th, 1945, and that S N 'right be engaged as auctioneer.

P.rr Campbell reported that he had investigated the complaint
N17- 36 -34 -22
of the Soldier Settlement that the fence on the North side of
N-�i- 36- 34 -22 -4 had been destroyed by the road crew of the municipal
District when road work was being done on the road 11r Campbell
reported that the fence was found to be encroaching on the road
allowance, and that many of the posts were broken off; that the
road crew of the 'Munic.*�pal District had :dove : :i the fence back so
that road �: ork could be done.

llr. Schmaltz moved that TYr. Campbell and 111r. King be appointed
a Committee to investigate the conditions in the Pa.smussen
household at Huxley, and report on same at next meeting of the
Council. Carried.
:ir Ohlhauser moved that the suggestion of 1.1r. Brownlee, as
given in his letter, viz that order be drawn on the estate of
Gottfred Hager for the amount of relief advanced to lirs Hager,
be aarried out, that Mr Brownlee be instructeI' to prepare the
said order, a. nd that Mr. Schmelke be authorized to present the
order to %.Irs. Hager for her signature. Carrie_'..
Secretary- Trea.surerwas instructed to inform all operators of
municipally -owned machinery that great case must be taken to
avoid accidents, especially when moving through towns and villages,
and whenever children care present.
1,,r Petersen moved that the old hotel property in the Hamlet of
Hesketh be retained by the unicipal District, and the well on the
said property reserved for the use of the residents of the said
hamlet. Carried.
I�Ir Ohlhauser moved that the action of the secretary- Treasurer
in leasing E1- 25- 28 -NO -4 to Walter Klanzuski for one year for
X50.00 be approved, and that lay -Lava to authorize same be
prepared. Carried.
Mr Schmaltz moved that authority be given for the cancellation
of that part of Read Diversion Plan 1859 in NVa- 2- 30 -25 -4, and
1,71- 11- 30 -25 -4 which has been superseded by a plan of survey made
by George Z. Pinder, .L. L C. Carried.
lair Ohlhauser moved that the Secretary- Treasurer be instructed
to interview 1.1'r Frank Paget and Er. Robert Sutherland on the
matter of leases for 1945 for NE- 25- 29 -�4 -4 and aE- 36- 29 -24 -4
in the case of 2.1r. Paget, t-tnd N10- 36- 29 -26 -4 and S..1- 1- 30 -26 -4
in the case of lair. Sutherland. Carried.
Mr Schmelke moved that the Secretary- Treasurer be instructed
to have posters printed, advising the public to order winter
supplies of coal nova, a.nd mail of supply of same to each
Councillor. Carried.
lvir Boon, representing the Provincial Department of Agriculture,
was present, and discusseL1 with the Council the matter of
setting up ".�.n .€ gricultural 'Service Board" in accordance with
the provisions of !:The agricultural Service Board net 't
%r Schmaltz moved thr-L an ).gricultural Service Board be set up
in this Municipal District Carried.
Mr. Petersen and !.'r Schmaltz were elected to represent the
Council on the said board, it J Purvis was appointed as :secretary
of the said board, and lei F Dell will represent the Department
of Municipal affairs on the said Board

said of Vice.
11'r Petersen r.loved that Chas. Fentiman be appointed as '.geed
inspector for the balance of 1945, and that he paid at the rate
of 80� per hour and 10� per mile for the use of his car Carried

1`..r. Schmaltz moved. that refund of :1 74 be made to
George Yard and Son for 1945 taxes paid on ineral assessment
�No 5406 Carried. (This refund is made as 1945 amendments
to the assessment Act exempt all minerals from municipal
taxation
Per. Petersen moved that a Court of Revision be held on
August 13tH., 1945 at 12.00 p.m. Carried
Secretary - Treasurer was instructed to acknoviledge letter
from Highway Local of A F U and report that the road from
Grainger north to the gravel high ^ao.y has recently been main-
tained Carried
Er. Parry moved that 1.1r aclualtz be appointed a Committee
of the Council to investiggte the claim of Gehring Bros. for
damages of r*8.00 caused by black stallion, the property of
Gottfred Kimmel!, of Sunnyslope; and that the account of Emil
Fischer for '412 65 for pound - keeper's fees in disposing of the
said animal be paid Carried.

pound- keeper to operate a pound at 3E- 25- 32 -22 -4. Carried
Pair Ohlhauser moved that Council proceed to pass a Hy -Lava
authorizing the purchase of a i ton Ford truck from Canadian
1otors, Three Hills Carried.
Iar Ohlhauser mioved that refund of ;'x500.00 be made to
James Hudson, of Carbon, alto. (reference Receipt ,',= 2541),
the said amount being a deposit made by llvilr Hudson for the
purchase of land Carried.
Mr. Campbell moved that approve.1 of the Council be given to
the application of Dietrich Esau for license as a ::rotor
I :Mechanic Carried.
k. J. Purvis made an offer to buy the heater, formerly
in the i,11unicipal office, Acme, for i35.00
Mr Ohlhauser moved that this offer be accepted. Carried
Secretary- Treasurer was instructed. to carry out the
following assignments.
d 1. Send sample of the Prome Grass Seed recently received
to Dominion Seed 'ranch, Calgary, for a purity test
1j r. Order "School Lone' signs.
J 3 Write to A G Eullum, of Lougheed, Alta. for renewal
of gravel contract .

ILr Campbell moved that.
Whereas Gordon G gyring and Charles J Christie have
been appointed iissistant._:')ecretary- Treasurers, and -Illan
J Purvis has been appointed Secretary- Treasurer for the
Ivlunlcipa 1 District of Kneehill Tao 48, and
WJ�ereas these appointments are, having regard to the
normal practice of these appointments, permanent in character,
Now therefore be it resolved that the said appointments
be declare6( to be permanent in character.. and
Be it further resolved that the Reeve is hereby authorized
to sign a certificate to this effect, and forward same to the
Unemployment Con)jnission. Carried
iIr Ohlhauser moved that i.r Schmelke be appointed to
interview the executors of the George Wal ker estate on the
matter of the late 11;Ir. 'r all.er's account for Council fees.

the Council unanimously agreed that the route of the
Three Hills - Druraneller DistrzcV Highway be as outlined on
map (=-nd as per minutes of Ilay 1511h, 1945.
Third reading was given to By-Law No. 7U2 (�� By -Law to
provide for the purchase of a Motor Grader from Canada Ingot
Iron Co Ltd for '412,584.00) I.ir Ohlhauser moved that third
reading of By -Law No 32 be approved. Carried
Third reading was given to By -Law -No 33 (A By -Law to
provide for the purchase of seven turn - over "cra ers from the
Richardson 'Road Ilacuinery Co Ltd for �;1, 225 00� IIr. Schmalke
moved that third reading of By -Law No. 33 be approved.
First reading was given to By -Law Rio . 34 (k By-Law to
provide for the purchase of a 1 ton ford Truck from Canadian
Motors, Three Hills for `;:1,346 68) IIr. Ohlhauser moved that
first reading of By -Law !,do. 34 be approved Carried
Second reading was given to By- Law ?o. 34 ".ir Schmaltz
movea that second reading of By -Law No 34 be approved. Carried
First reading was given to By -La,14 �o 35 (k By -Law to
provide for the purchase of a Snow -Plow attachment for an
Austin `western b-1-99 I,'otor Grader) Mr Petersen moved that
first reading of By -Law No 35 be approved. Carried.
Second reading was given to By -Law No. 35 I.r Olson
moved that second reading of By -Ijaw No 35 be approved Carried
Er Ohlhauser move. that each division be charged
for the use of any municipal machinery the actual amount paid
for ;rages while the said machinery is used in the division
plus 40% of labor to cover expense for fuel, oii, repairs,
etc , except that in the case of Iaotor Graders, the division
be charged u2 00 per hour for use of same Carried
It was moved by Iir. Petersen that C E. Ruby be appointed
as caretaker of the Sarcee Butte Cemetery; that ;airs J ivicarthur
be appointed as caretaker of the Huxley Cemetery, that the
charges of lots in any 1-1-unicipal Cemetery be :10.00 for double
lots and r5 00 for single lots, that, the cabetakers be paid
y',;;3 00 for each double lot sold, and �'2 00 for each single lot
