M'r Schmaltz moved that Council adjourn until 1 30 p.m. The Council re- assembled at 1.30 p.m. All members present 111r. Schmaltz reported on Committee work' 1. his interview with War Assets Corporation regarding a 11otor Truck 2. his interview with Central Alberta Sanatorium regarding accounts 3 property of the Municipal .'istrict stored in U.F.A shed at Acme Mr. Schmelke moved that Mr. Schmaltz take steps to dispose of the poison bait stored in U.F.A shed at Acme Carried Mr. Parry moved that a pump for watering the lawn be bought, and that lr. Schmaltz be appointed a Committee to purchase same. Carried. Constable Bryson, R C i;1. P., reported on the investigations and Bruneski families. interviewed the Council, and being made into the Rasmussen The Secretary - Treasurer reported that James Hudson, of Carbon, had paid 500.00 on I,1ay 22, 1945 for the purchase of 69 acres more or less of 5E- 14- 29 -23 -4, and that on Jane 5th, 1945 he had made application for the return of the said payment, as he had been unable to purchase adjacent lands. 11r. :den Lang, of Carbon, interviewed the Council, and made an offer to rent the said lands (67 acres, more or less, of ESE- 14- 29 -23 -4) for 1945 for X13.00, with the option of purchas- ing the said lands in the f all of 1945 for `.'00.00 Mr. Schmaltz moved that 1,41r. Ohlhauser and Mr. Olson be appointed a committee to investigate the said property, and report on same at next meeting of the Council Carried. A delagation consisting of James L Qua.nce, George Sommerville, James Sommerville, U. Lyster, V. paten, H. C. Currie, R. W Currie, L. Ferguson, P J Rock, J Nakaska, Peter Hugo, John Hugo, Ur. and A Waddell interviewed the Council on the matter of the route of the District HighiAiia.y from Three Hills to Drumheller Mr P. J. Rock read a petition signed by 35 ratepayers After considerable discussion, 1,1r Olson moved that the entire Council investigate the various routes proposed on June 13th, 1945 Carried Mr. Howard Jones, 1533 -27th revenue vilest, Phone 7 -3769, Cal gary, interviewed the Council on the matter of gravel contract work. Ivir Campbell moved that Alfred Gibson be paid X20.00, for the nT Freeman to travel concession of allowing .�,r Al Cassin and Iv1rs. across his lands (5f- 17- 30 -23 -4) in 1944 and 1945, in order to reach the road between Sections 17 and 8- 30 -23 -4. Carried. Mr. Campbell reported on the condition of 1virs. Lydia Adamson now a patient in the St 11aary's Hospital, Trochu. He reports that Dr. IL. J 'heart, attending physician, is to submit a written report and recommendations soon. Parry and Mr. Petersen be appointed to represent this Iunicipal District on the Provisional Board of the Three :-sills Iunicipal Hospital. Carried. Mr Schmaltz moved that the application of James Hudson for refund of his payment of $500.00 on SE- 14- 29 -23 -4 be tabled until the report of the Committee be received. Carried. Mr. Campbell reported that the fence on N�- 36- 34 -22 -4 was found to be on the road allowance when road work was done at said location in 1944 Secretary- Treasurer was instructed to notify the Soldier Settlement accordingly. Mr. Schmelke moved that the Holy Cross Hospital be offered ¢150.00 as full settlement of the Gottlieb Adam account. Carried. Mr. Campbell reported damages be given to iI by 11,Irs Ed lriilz. Mr. Schmaltz moved that the account of Calgary General Hospital for 56 00 ( Poffenroth) be paid, and the said amount charged against NE- lC-- 29- 25 -y4-. Cexried. Mr Ohlhauser moved that Gravel checkers be paid 80r/. per hour. Carried Mr. Olson gave a report on the accident in which a daughter of Ted Thomas, of Drumheller, Alta. was injured. fir. Schmaltz moved that the Secretary-Treasurer be instructed to inform 1.1r. Thomas that according to information presented to the Council, no responsibility is accepted by the Municipal District for the said accident Carried. Mr. schmaltz moved that the application of Jacob Renn for an Old Age Pension be approved. Carried. Ivlr. Petersen moved that Secretary *Treasurer be instructed to get information regarding Liability Insurance. Carried. Mr. Ohlhauser moved that correspondence be filed. Carried.. Mr Parry moved that steps be taken to purchase two fuel tanks of 500 gallon capacity each. Carried. Mr. Campbell moved that notices be posted in the Hamlets of the Municipal District ordering the removal of ashes, manure and other rubbish. Carried. Mr J. A. Ohlhamser moved that refund of ��108 51 be made to � Oscar Carlson of Trochu, the said refund representing the 1945 taxes p?.id by sir Carlson on 5_;'�- 34- 33- -25 -4, land which is the Property of his son R. E. Carlson, a soldier serving in Holland. Carried. 1.1r. Ohlhauser moved that an allowance of ;15.00 per month be authorized for Steve Simon 1% of Carbon, at the Farmers' Exchange, also that an allowance of v15 00 per month, plus a pair of work shoes be authorized for Pete Kostyniuk, of Carbon, at the Farmers' Exchange. Carried. Mr Schmelke moved that the approval of the Council be given to the application of William Toews, of Swalwell for a License as a 11otor l41echa.nic Carried. By -Law No 29 (A By -Lati ^t to rovide for the sale of N`u'd- �22- 33� -22 -4 to Thomas Lynch for 4 250.00 was given third reading. lir Ohlhauser moved that third reading of By - Law No 29 be approved. Carried. By -Law No. 32 (A -t3y_Law to provide for the purchase of a Motor- Grader) was given first reading. Ur Ohlhauser moved that first reading of By -law No 32 be approved Carried. By -Law No. 32 was given second reading fir. Schmelke moved that second reading of By -U No. 32 be approved. Carried. By -Law No 33 (A B -Law to provide for the purchase of seven turn -over scrapers was given first reading Mr. Campbell mover: that first reading of L'y -Lacr No 33 be approved. Carried. By -Law No. 33 was given second reading jir. Parry moved that second reading of By_Law No 33 be approved. Carried. Mr. Campbell reported that two bridges on the Ghost Pine Creek 1 at Kneivel's farm 2 miles north and 1 mile east of Trochu, 2 at 11artin linther's farm, 1 mile south and 1 mile west of Huxley, are in need of repairs Air. Campbell moved that the material for the repair of these bridges be purchased, and same charged to "General" public works Carried There was discussion regarding the maintenance and upkeep of the cemeteries of the 1,1unicipal District, and it was agreed that each Councillor will submit a list of the cemeteries in his division, and recommendation regarding a caretaker, to the next meeting of the Council. .sir Olson moved that Council do note adjourn.
