MUNICIPAL DISTRICT OF KNETHILL No 278, Page 1. COUNCIL MEETING ON MARCH 20, 1944 The Council of the Municipal ristrict of Kneehill No 278 held a regular meeting on Monday 1,111arch 20, 1944 The meeting was called to order at 10 00 a.m. by the Reeve, who presided Councillors present J. Olson, JC A. Ohlhauser, Gorge R. M Schmaltz, Hugh Parry (Peeve), Walker, C. C Campbell Mr. J V'allace and Per. A Evans interviewed the Council. The minutes of the meeting of the Council of the M. D of Carbon INTo. 278 held on December 28th, 1943 were read by the Secretary Treasurer :owed by J. VV' Olson that same be adopted as read Carried. The minutes of the meeting of the Council of the 11. D of Norquay No. 279 held on December 30, 1943 were read by the Secretary Treasurer Moved by J. A Ohlhauser that same be adopted as read Carried The minutes of the meeting of the Council of the Zvi. D of Ghost Pine No 308 held on December 28th, 194a were read by the Secretary Treasurer. Moved by C C Campbell that same be adopted as read. Carried The minutes of the meeting of the Council of the 11. D of Stauffer No 309 held on December 23rd, 1943 were read by the Secretary Treasurer Moved by George R ,alker that same be adopted as read. Carried. A Ohlhauser that leave of absence of three days be granted to the entire staff to attend the Refresher Course offered each summer by the University of Alberta, and that each member of the staff be paid 25 00 expenses to attend the said course. Schmaltz that the road machinery previously owned by the M D 's of Carbon and Norquay be merged into one unit, and that H J Gimbel be engaged_ as foreman with wages of tl 00 per hour Carried H. J. Gimbel accepted the position N. T. Giesbrecht and John Esau interviewed the Council. Moved by J. '',' Olson that N T Giesbrecht and John Gsau be engaged as employees with wages of 80� per hour. Carried. Ernest Filson accepted employment. Vim. Howell interviewed the Council Paul Elvin interviewed the Council 111ove by C. C. Camp- bell that Paul nlvin be engaged as employee with wages as follows (1) 90/, per hour if he (Elvin) is foreman, (2) 80� per hour if Vjm Nowell is appointed as foreman at a later date Carried Paul Elvin indicated that he would accept employment under either rate. Walter Manta interviewed the Council Moved by C C Campbell that Walter Ranta be engaged as employee at wages of 80/ per hour Carried. Moved by 11. Schmeltz that the banking business of the Municipal District of Kneehill No 278 be divi;led between the Royal Bank of Canada, and the Bank of Montreal. An amendment was moved by G. R. `Talker that the banking business of the Municipal District be done with the Treasury Branch of the Government of Q berta. An amendment to the amendment was moved by J. Olson that the banking business of the Municipal District be divided equally between the Royal Bank of Canada, and the Trea, -ury Branch of the Government of Alberta After voting, the Reeve declared the amendment to the amendment made by J 'u Olson "Carried" Moved by J A Ohlhauser that Council adjourn until 7 30 p.m. The Council re- convened at 7 30 p m All members were present. The Secretary Treasurer presented the official seal of the Municipal District for approval It was moved by J A Ohlhauser that the seal be adopted as the official seal of the Municipal District of Kneehill No. 278. Carried Moved by 11 Schmmaltz that the following be appointed as poundkeepers Thos. Schmaltz that tenders be advertised for the sale of the Municipal Office in Acme, terms cash. Carried. Moved by Pair F C Petersen that the Trochu office be closed as soon as convenient to the former Secretary Treasurer, G G King. Carried. Proved by J A Ohlhauser that the equipment end records in the Acme office be moved to Three Hills and Trochu as soon as possible. Movez by F C Petersen that Secretary be instructed to i ite to Aar McCubbin, secretary of the Ghost Pine Telephone Co. if company would consider extending its line to serve F. C. Petersen's farm Carried. There was some discussion respecting remuneration for Councillors. I'loved by 14. Schmaltz that the setting of rates of remuneration for councillors be tabled to a later meeting of the Council.
